Itunes 64bit Vista

Hi guys,
I bought a new comp 2 weeks ago downloaded the latest version of ITunes (7.3) it worked fine yet I couldn't get it to burn anything (no big deal).
Two days later, I had ITunes running went away from the computer for a while and when I came back ITunes had closed???? Tried to re-open ITunes and it said DEP or something was stopping it from opening. I have now turned off DEP yet it gives me a different error problem APPCRASH.
Quicktime will not open either.
I am running 64bit Vista and have heard of numerous program combatability issues. I really don't want to install XP though is there a patch or something that is ready to enable ITunes to work on VISTA.
Does anyone know why;
-ITunes worked for 2 days then died???
-Quicktime doesn't work either???
-Burning didn't work originally???
IS there a date for when a patch or solution for this problem is meant to be fixed, have tried contacting Dell, Microsoft, Apple and have had 1 unhelpful response from Microsoft.

We are all just users here and we do not know what Apple plans until they announce them.
However there is a clue that Apple may be working on 64 bit support in a mysterious error message produced by iTunes which referes to a 64 bit version - which does not currently exist.

  • 64bit Vista and iTunes/iPhone

My new PC has Vista 64bit on it. I installed the 64bit iTunes and it seemed to install correctly but it doesn't recognize the iPhone. My iPod connects fine but the iPhone doesn't. I was on the phone with Apple tech support about an hour and finally they said it was a Microsoft issue and not theirs. Has anyone else had this problem? I really think it has something to do with the iTunes 64bit driver.

Just got my 3Gs in the mail and I am having the same problem.

  • Audible, iTunes and Vista 64bit

Hi everyone, I'm moving to a new computer tomorrow that has Vista 64bit on it. I know that iTunes is now compatible, but I have a lot of audiobooks from Audible and to listen to them I know I'll have to authorise my new computer. I've had a look through the help pages on audible's site and it says that there is a problem with iTunes that stops you from authorising your computer on a 64 bit vista machine: http://audible-uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/aid/3666/kw/vista%2064/rid/166
The thing is, some of the info on audible's website can be quite old so I'm not sure if this problem has been addressed yet or not. Has anyone managed to authorise a 64bit vista system for audible content? If not, can anyone think of any work arounds? (other than keeping the old computer around until the problem is fixed!)
    Cheers
    Nicola

I had Vista 64 and now Windows 7 64 and no issues--and there is a 64 bit version of iTunes too. All works well.

  • I have the 64bit version of itunes. When I connect my iphone5 it says that I don't have the correct software and that I need to install itunes 64bit! And I can go no further! Help!

I have the 64bit version of itunes on windows 7. When I connect my iphone5 it says that I don't have the correct software and that I need to install itunes 64bit! And I can go no further! I've uninstalled and reinstalled but it makes no difference. I have no access to other computers so at the moment I don't have a backup for my iphone should anything go wrong.
    Please Help!

    Hello ekbowers,
It sounds like you have installed the 64 bit version of iTunes, but you continue to the get an error message that suggests to download the 64 bit version any time you connect your iPhone 5.  I understand that you have already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, but sometimes you may need to uninstall additional components related to iTunes to completely remove it from your system.
I recommend following the steps in this article to completely uninstall iTunes:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Once you have completely uninstalled iTunes, you can download the 65 bit version of iTunes for Windows here:
    iTunes 11.0.4 for Windows 64

  • Download iTunes to Vista

Has anyone had any problems downloading iTunes to a new laptop that has Windows Vista on it? I get the iTunes and the Quicktime downloaded but when I hook up my phone to the USB port it tells me that the required software is not there. I was able to download the proper software to my ancient desktop that runs WinXP Pro and finally was able to activate my iphone. I was even on the phone with the support fellow at 800-my iphone, working with my laptop and desktop and still we couldn't get the laptop to work right. Any ideas?

I have an HP Laptop (comes with their QuickPlay software), running Vista Ultimate 64bit version. I've got iTunes running on it just fine. There is a minor hiccup once in a blue moon, but generally runs well.
You can't burn CDs though on the 64bit Vista OS, that and you can't have an iPhone synch up or even activate on it either.
One year now since I found out about the iPhone, and I'm still waiting for Apple to finally come out and support this OS.

  • Does Apple have a Data Execution Prevention (DEP) compatible version of iTunes for Vista?

I have followed instructions found on the Apple Support boards for the past 3 days regarding  the fact that DEP will not allow the iTunes updates to operate on Windows Vista.  I wish I had a dollar for every time I have uninstalled adn reinstalled iTunes, only to get the same results.  It instally correctly, but will not open.  It gets shut down by DEP every time.  YOU CAN'T TURN OFF DEP FOR iTUNES IN VISTA!!!  I don't care what the instructions from Apple and Microsoft say, it can't be done.
So, does anybody know if Apple has a version of the iTunes that is compatible with DEP?  Or, are that hopefully at least working on one?  My iPhone and iPod are useless.

Have you downloaded and installed Windows Vista Service Pack 1 yet?
This may assist you with that you are running into. If you have already done this let me know. Could still potentially be something going on with the Apple Software.
If this is the case the link below describes how to fully clean out Apple Software. Possible file that belongs to Apple may of become corrupted and thus causing iTunes not to launch Properly.
But before you check the article out. Have you right clicked on the iTunes Application and chose Run as Administrator?
You can also right click on the iTunes App, Select Properties, and select Compatibility Mode - And make sure that is not turned on and set for something else. As this could potentially be running in a different mode.

Not with your current user id.
Far too much uneccesary information in your post, which only confuses things, a vast amount!
    Let's start with iTunes.
Have you updated iTunes to 11.1.5, because the previous version did appear to have an issue about seeing iPods?
With iTunes 11.1.5 installed, look in Edit/Preferences/Devices, (or use the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key) and make sure that the box named Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically does not have a tick in the box.
Once you have doen those two things, check to see if the iPod is seen by iTunes.

By the way, what does IOS mean? (I thought IO stood for operating system, but am flummoxed by the S on the end.
    Really?
OS stands for Operating System. (In computer speak, IO means Input/Output.)
iOS originally stood for iPhone Operating System, but it now refers to the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPod Classic, which you have listed in your profile as your iPod, does not use iOS.
I assume that you have been listening to the Podcast in your iTunes on the computer as you cannot transfer it to your iPod. It's what I'd do.

  • Itunes and vista error message

I just purchased a new computer with vista and now my ipod/itunes won't work. i have upgraded to the itunes 7.1 (i think) and at first- my itunes synced with my ipod nano, and now it won't...error message (-50) An unknown error occured. And then it says: The disk could not be read from or written to. Why? I purchased more songs from itunes and I can't get them on my ipod...any ideas?

iTunes not working in Vista is a bunch of bull...I personally rag on Apple for not releasing a "comaptible" (I put that in quotes because it really does work...I'll explain in a moment) version of iTunes upon release of Vista...considering that many Apple customers run Windows...
Anyway, I bought my laptop in November before Vista even launched...I had an Express Upgrade to Vista...the trick to getting iTunes to work on Vista is a clean install of Vista onto the hard drive. When I clean installed my copy of Vista, iTunes was the first program I installed onto my computer. The results were interesting:
    1. Aero does work with both iTunes and Quicktime. The actual iTunes and Quicktime program themselves don't utilize the Aero interface, but Aero doesn't turn off for the rest of the computer.
    2. iTunes is fully compatible with Vista. All my songs play and my iPod updates just fine.
    3. Purchased music does play in Vista. All my movies, TV shows, and music I bought from iTunes play after iTunes prompts me to authorize my computer...somehow iTunes even knew that I removed my old copy of XP and it must've deauthorized my iTunes from XP because authorizing iTunes in Vista didn't take up an extra authorization of my allowed five.
To do a clean install of Vista follow the directions from this web site. You MUST HAVE A COPY OF YOUR VISTA OPERATING SYSTEM CD WITH THE PRODUCT KEY AND YOUR COMPUTER'S DRIVERS THAT CAME WITH YOUR SYSTEM!!! These are important in case Vista isn't able to use some hardware on your computer upon install, but Vista now has most drivers already installed...when I installed Vista on my Dell the only driver I had to download from Dell's web site was for my Bluetooth device.

    It worked before.

Open Disk Utility via Spotlight or in the Applications folder stored within the Utilities folder. Close all applications and 3rd party software and choose "Repair Disk Permissions." Reboot the computer when finished, and test to see if the issue is resolved.

  • Java SDK ME on 64bit Vista?

I'm trying to pick up some programming skills in Java so that I can make apps for my phone, I require Java SDK ME to do so. I've seen a lot of people saying that Java SDK ME won't work on 64bit Vista and they're right, it doesn't. However, some people said there was a way to make it work, but they didn't seem to be very good at giving instructions so I'm still lost.
At the moment, I have no Java developer tools installed because none of them worked. Could someone point me in the right direction to getting Java SDK ME to work on 64bit Vista?

    Hopefully this can help you:

  • ITunes with Vista

I have Windows Vista ultimate installed on a PC.
When I connect my iPod Video windows warns that this device needs to be scanned. I have refused to allow it to do so. iTunes will sometimes recognize the iPod is connected, sometimes not, sometimes it will freeze.
Same Hardware with XP Pro installed never had a single issue in the 6 months I've owned the iPod.
    thanks,
    dot19408
    Frankenx86   Windows XP Pro

I also have undocumented issues with iTunes 7.1.1 and my 80GB 5th gen iPod. I waited patiently for 7.1.1 (it would not work at all with previous version of iTunes and Vista) and even when I installed 7.1.1 it would not recognise the iPod was connected, or if it did it would crash and blue screen Windows.
What I fond worked was to restore the iPod back to factory settings (make sure you have a good back up of your music, either in iTunes on your PC or better still on both your PC and a extra backup. This will effectively completely wipe your iPod. I then found conecting it back to iTunes that it recognised it quickly and synced the music quickly, i.e. it worked as expected.
However, trying to sync the Vista My Pictures folder with my iPod is impossible. I have about 5,000 pictures and it takes about 1-2 minutes per picture to optimise the pictures before syncing. As you can imagine, I have not let this function complete, an in mot cases it still crashes my PC. Something is no working still, maybe related to the recognised USB support issue for iTunes that Microsoft is still working on.
    Does anyon have any ideas?
