ITunes 7.0.1 freezes when syncing to iPod - any thoughts?

I have a click-wheel iPod that's always synced fine with iTunes on my laptop. Upgraded to iTunes 7 to work with my girlfriends new 2nd gen Nano. Her iPod syned fine - no problems. When I connect my iPod it seems okay - and transfering Podcasts to it worked fine, but it deleted all my music from the iPod and now iTunes freezes when I try to sync the music back to it.
Any thoughts???
Thanks
Jon

  • Itunes 11.1.4 freezes when syncing with iphone

Itunes 11.1.4 Periodically freezes when not syncing.  always freezes when starting to sync Iphone or ipad.  sometimes gets far enough to see Message: "ITunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services.  Reconnect or try again later"  Trying again later does not help.  This did not happen with previous version of Itunes (for years)

    Hello Zach,
It sounds like you are getting this error message when connecting your phone after a recent update. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article to help you get a resolution:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
Start with the first steps to test iTunes in Safe Mode, and if needed, there is additional troubleshooting therein.
    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
    Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • Itunes freezes when syncing with ipod

My itunes is freezing when i try to sync with itunes. Manual management does not cause freezing, but automatic syncing causes it to freeze after five or fewer podcasts / songs are transferred. The ipod is brand new, and ready to use. I've tried all the normal steps, such as reinstalling software, ect. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the response. I have installed, reinstalled the latest itunes, ran the diagnostics, looked through troubleshooting guides and forums before posting on this forum. Aside from Itunes freezing up in automatic syncing, both itunes and ipod seems to run normally.
Could this be a problem with the library or some type of miscellaneous file? Any suggestions?

  • ITunes freezing when syncing to iPod Classic 80 GB

I have had significant problems with songs and audiobooks skipping on my iPod (software version 1.1.2) recently so I decided to try to reset it.  I have done a hard reset and restored it, however, now iTunes (v 10.2.2.12) is freezing while trying to sync to my iPod.  I have already gotten past the point that it asks me to name it and there are a few random songs that have been synced, however, once it syncs for a few moments, iTunes completely stops responding and I have to close it through the task manager.  If I don't close out of it, however, it will eventually give me an error saying that it couldn't sync the specific song it was on and that it is finished syncing (even though there are thousands more waiting to be synced).  The error codes have been -1303 and -69 but I've not been able to find anything relevant.  Can anyone help with this?

    Hi,
Try the general tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2830.
The article will walk you through testing in another user account but you can also try isolating the issue by testing with an alternate iTunes library, as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589.

  • ITunes 11.1.1 freezes when I connect iPod Video

Ever since installing iTunes 11 on Windows 7 laptop, I can't plug in my iPod Video (5G) without crashing iTunes.  Every update to iTunes does the same, including 11.1.1.  My iPod works fine.  iTunes 10 works fine (on a different computer).  No way am I putting 11 on the other computer until this is resolved.

Well, I'm pleased to say that I solved the problem (but not the mystery).  I tried all our Apple iDevices on my laptop (with iTunes 11.1.1), and they all worked OK, except the abovementioned 5G Video (including another 5G Video that I had).  When the 2nd 5G Video worked, I realized the problem lied with the 1st iPod, so I did a "Restore" (to original settings), and that seemed to do the trick.  I didn't think to do this before because the iPod worked fine otherwise, and worked with the old iTunes 10.7.
But here's the rub:  I HAD to use the old iTunes 10 to do the restore...because iTunes 11 crashed before I could do a Restore.  So, the mystery may never be solved, but at least all is now working.

  • ITunes and computer freezes when syncing

My iPod and iTunes work fine separately, but when I sync my iPod, it'll sync a couple songs/photos/videos and then suddenly freeze which freezes my entire task bar. I use windows vista and itunes 7.6.1 and I haven't had this problem before.. What's the deal?

I have this exact same problem and cannot figure out a solution to it. It has happened twice to me.
First time it happened was around Christmas. All of a sudden, I could not sync the iPod any more as my system froze when attempting to do so. iPod and iTunes worked fine apart. I dug through the whole system and could never get it to work. The only thing that I could do was to move everything to a different box. I lost all of my history in doing that, though.
Now, in the past couple of days, the same issue has started again on the 2nd box. I've reinstalled iTunes, I've started everything with a base config (only required system services running), I've tried old iTunes libraries...nothing works, it still syncs for a bit and then everything freezes. I enabled disk use and then ran a disk check on the iPod. It found some errors and corrected them. I guess I could erase the iPode to factory standards and then try syncing again, but I did this when the issue occurred the first time and it didn't solve the problem.
Any insight anyone can give into this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • ITunes 10.3.1 freezing when adding new tracks (library located on external HD)

Installed the new iTunes 10.3 beta earlier and tried to add new songs into my library. However, it takes approx 30 mins to add 4 songs and sometimes it simply won't even add and just freezes. I tried updating to 10.3.1 and the problem persists. I haven't seen anyone post this problem, the closest I have found are others' iTunes freezing when syncing with iOS devices. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but my library is located on an external HD and the option to "Copy to iTunes library" is ticked. However, I doubt that's the main problem since if I actually wait it out and add only 1,2 songs at a time it still works, although it just takes a random amount of time to add (5+ minutes per song).
I'm hoping someone has a solution or can identify this as a bug? I've been considering downgrading to iTunes 10.2.2 so I can actually add songs to my library (but can't seem to find a link anywhere to 10.2.2). If someone could provide a link to 10.2.2, it would be incredibly helpful as well. Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
finally worked! I found this post and it has finally worked I understand it is the same as WHATHECK's answer so thanks WHATHECK!
You have to be certain that you have backed up your Library's and Playlists and that you are doing the one in the root (if like me you use a HD any old library/playlists instead of deleting them put them some were safe just incase and make sure you are re-creating the library from your root folder i.e user/music/itunes
    Anyone trying thishttps://discussions.apple.com/message/15093132#15093132
    Good luck!
Seriously thinking of not updating itunes next time...

  • 60G Ipod, new iTunes locks up my computer when syncing?

What the heck???!!! i have a 60G photo ipod and after updating w/the new iTunes 7 software my computer immediatly freezes when syncing. I already tried reseting ipod, also restored ipod no use. I've got 20G of music i want to download to ipod and i can't?
    Can someone help please?
    Thanks!

I also am having problems updating my 60GB ipod photo.
With itunes 6 it would take 5-10 minutes to update.
I waited until 7.0.1 was released thinking that the patch would have addressed the bugs in v7. However now my ipod takes 2.5 hours to update (even when no changes have been made). This performance can not be blamed on any other software as itunes is the only app that has been updated.
Itunes uses 85% of my CPU for around 2 hours before any ipod activity occurs. So it may appear that it has hung but will eventually get there. The PC is unusable though during this time.
I can't believe apple didn't detect these issues during testing.
Does anyone know if apple are addressing/acknowledging this problem and when an update/workaround is likely to be released.
Spending 2.5 hours every day to update my ipod is not acceptable.

The other responder gave you a program that will transfer stuff from your iPod to your new computer.  You can transfer iTunes purchaces to your new computer by:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
After you move your stuff to your new computer you will have to let iTunes erase your iPod and then sync with the stuff that is now in your iTunes library.  You will loose app data though.

  • Since I downloaded iTunes 11, I get a message when syncing my iPod that some of my songs were not copied because they are not authorized on this computer,  I go to Store Authorize This Computer, a message pops up telling me that this computer is already.

Since I downloaded iTunes 11, I get a message when syncing my iPod that some of my songs were not copied because they are not authorized on this computer,  I go to Store> Authorize This Computer, a message pops up telling me that this computer is already.

So I am unclear, did you purchase these songs or import them from a cd?
If you imported them and still have the CD try importing them again and see if they work the delete the others.
Or if you purchased from itunes re-dowwnload and see if they work. Maybe they are corrupted files and this should resove it.

  • ITunes displays -48 error message when syncing iPod Nano on Windows XP

My girlfriend's mom's iPod Nano ran out of charge while jogging so she decided to charge it on her daughter's iHome. The next day she went to use her iPod but it was totally empty of all music and files. When she tried to sync it to iTunes, she received an eror message stating, "An unknown error has occurred (-48)" from iTunes and a Windows message stating that some iPod folder/file was corrupted.
If anyone receives such a message, I was able to correct it by:
-Plugging in your iPod to your PC
    -Ignore the error messages
    -Go to My Computer
-Find your iPod's drive letter (ie. G:)
-Right-click on it and select Properties
-Go to Tools Tab >Error-checking and select Check Now
You should be able to sync your iPod as before. I do not claim to be an expert so be warned that it may not work for you. Good luck!
