ITunes 7.0.1 installation overwrites registry data
iTunes 7.0.1 overwrites registry information in WindowsXP that causes the DVD device driver to be considered corrupted and the DVD device to no longer be recognized. This is for a Dell Inspiron E1505, but I imagine the problem is more universal.
Install at your own risk, but if you do and your DVD is no longer recognized, delete the UpperLimits and LowerLimits within the class for the DVD player and reboot.
When you fix this, note that when you access iTunes, then the iTunes player tells you to reinstall 7.0.1 if you want to import or burn to the DVD player.
This needs to be fixed ASAP by the Apple engineers.

are you getting a Code 41 error message next to your optical drives in Device Manager? if so, the standard treatment on PCs for that (even in cases where Easy CD Creator has not been installed on the PC) is given here:
(MS) CD-ROM access is missing and messages cite error Code 31, Code 32, Code 19, Code 39, or Code 41 after you remove Easy CD Creator in Windows XP

Encore 2.0 installation overwrites registry
After loading the Production Suite Premium package over a clean install of Win XP64 (running on a AMD 3400-equipped laptop, 100Gb 7200 rpm HD, 1 Gb RAM) and rebooting, my system "lost" the DVD/CD recorder (HL-DT-ST DVDRW GCA-4080N). Device Manager indicated that all the drivers were present, including PxHlpa64.sys installed by Encore, but returned an error message stating the device could not be found. Uninstalling the device and performing a PNP search/install returned an error message indicating registry corruption.
I wiped the system and redid the clean install, followed by an install of Prod Studio. The DVD was again "lost." I checked the registry and discovered that installing Encore deleted the entry "DeviceName CdRom0" from the hardware registry.
I wiped the system again for a clean OS install, and reinstalled the complete Prod Studio minus Encore. No "lost" DVD now...Hi Neil,
I just recommended that he export the registry key that contained the device in question. Then after installing Encore, if the device recognition went fruit-shaped again (I love that phrase), he could merge the exported registry key into the registry and see if that solved his problem.
As for insight as to why the device went away in the first place, my head is still sore from all the scratching.

ITunes 12.1.1 installation errors and resolution (Win 7, 64 bit)
I am providing all of the installation errors I had experienced
and all of the methods I had tried until I finally came up with a solution.
Hopefully the details will help you see if your situation has similarities
which hopefully will make this post helpful in terms of a solution.
PART ONE: INSTALLATION ERRORS
I received the following installation errors
when attempting to update to 12.1.1
and later once I uninstalled and attempted to reinstall 12.1.1.
I used this link for the download:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/?cid=wwa-us-kwg-music-itu
> itunes 6464setup.exe
I then tried this link:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1614
> itunes 12.1.1 64 bit
Again 6464 in the name.
After uninstalling the iunes,
I discovered under add/remove programs:
apple application support 32 bit
and apple support update
I deleted these and restarted the PC.
I then tried reinstalling a NEW version
from the second link above.
Opened download iTunes 6464setup.exe >
Windows installer> iTunes > welcome to itunes
> next > installation options > install > user account control
> yes > next > (error message via pop-up window):
ERROR MESSAGE ONE
"An error occurred during installation of assembly Microsoft VC80 CRT Type ="win32",

SIDE NOTE
There was a USB cable connected to the PC to charge the iPhone,
but the iPhone was not connected. I detached the USB cable from the PC in case it's relevant.
(I did not reattach the USB cable until I finally got a copy of itunes to install. You will see later in this post below.).
I then clicked Retry.
ERROR MESSAGE 2 AGAIN
I received the identical 'Apple Mobile Device Service' error as above.
I then clicked Ignore.
iTunes > Status
> User Account Control pop-up window)
> Do you want to allow to install Apple iTunes>
Yes >
> Congratulations > Finish
> (iTunes pop-up error window):
> iTunes Helper
ERROR MESSAGE 3

> iTunes
b)
"Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.
Please uninstall iTunes and install iTunes again.
Error 2 (Windows Error 2)"
> OK > OK
ERROR MESSAGE 4
I received all of these errors above
when I had tried a fresh install before returning to the forum to search for answers.
When I had first tried a fresh install, I didn't get as far as the Congrats.
I only got as far as the first and second error listed above
("An error occurred during installation of assembly Microsoft VC80 CRT Type ="win32"...
AND Service 'Apple Mobile Device Service' (Apple Mobile Device Service").
Clicked on iTunes icon on desktop
ERROR MESSAGE 5
I receive the (iTunes pop-up error message window)
error 2 windows error 2 (identical to what's listed listed under 3b).
PART 2 - INSTALLATION RESOLUTION
The issue finally is resolved.
HERE IT IS!!!
1) Uninstall iTunes
2) check remaining Apple programs
(click control panel > programs > uninstall)
> check the listed Apple programs
Apple Application Support 32 bit,
Apple Mobile Device Support,
Apple Software Update,
Bonjour
3) Locate and save the correct file version of iTunes for your OS and System.
In my case, it's Win 7.
You must check for the System Type.
Computer > right click to properties > system type.
In my case its 64 bit.
The 32 bit installer is named iTunesSetup.exe,
while the 64 bit installer is named iTunes64Setup.exe.
I learned that some folks had experienced issues with
the 64 bit installer on the Apple site whether it's
because they had downloaded the 32 bit
when they needed the 64 and therefore
couldn't complete the install or in my case,
what appears to perhaps be a corrupted file that stated 6464 in the .exe file name.
This lead me to believe that finding the file with the correct file name and
correct file size to prove it authentic for that version would likely be part of
the solution if not the solution. File Hippo is one suggested means to locate the file.
I locate the iTunes download "iTunes64Setup.exe" that matched the size of the file
to a valid copy of that version of ITunes and I set it aside.
4) I then made sure that all old copies
and remnants of iTunes and Apple software
has been uninstalled by checking add/remove.
Then C: program files
and then C: program files (x86),
then running CC Cleaner,
then cleaning the registry using CC Cleaner
and then checking Tools under CC Cleaner.
***I discovered under Tools that there were remaining Apple files listed
after the uninstall of iTunes and other files had taken place under iTunes***
I visit tools under CC Cleaner and deleted the remaining Apple files
including Apple Application Support, Mobile Device Support, and Bonjour,
***but I leave the Apple Software Update folder as is, in tact***
under C: Program files (x86) and Tools of CC Cleaner and under Add/Remove.
5) I restart the computer, install the new copy of iTunes 12.1.1 (64 bit),
iTunes64Setup.exe, and it installed with zero errors.
Hope someone will find this useful. Good luck.Try the "for older video cards" version.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Hi
I;m having so itunes match issues.
I ran itunes match. I';ve since foumd, I think:
a) if incorrect genre etc data has been uploaded to icloud, I cannot find how to delete it and reupload correct song and data. I am presently assuming that once songs are matched, the meta-data, genre, etc etc thats uploaded is now treated as 'the master' by itunes.
Question: if I want to change the genre on a track, whats the correct way to overwrite the data held in the icloud? if I delete the track i just bring down the old incorrect genres again!
b) I've deleted from the icloud all my music tracks (select all, delete, Y to delete tracks from icloud). I have turned off itunes match on my ipad, iphone, appletv mac and windows pc. I've deleted the itunes library files too from mac and pc in desperation. But hours /days later, when I turn on itunes match on mac or pc, it tells me i still have 9k tracks in icloud. All with the old, wrong meta-data ready to mess up my [now-corrected] files back on my pc!
I cannot delete them no matter what I do. The number of tracks in the cloud was 12k, now 9k so its reducing, by about 1500 tracks a day.
does it really take itunes servers that long to delete the tracks I've asked it to delete, or am i seeing garbage data?
is there a quicker way of deleting all my itunes match library, songs and data? Thanks for the helpful replies.
My original intention was to 'upgrade' some of my tracks. In those cases, I'd iTunes matched, and the process was completed.
I later downloaded those new tracks but found during that process, the tracks I was downloading had the old metadata.
I guess the idea there is to update the local genres, 'update iTunes match' and wait. How long, I don't know but that's the current solution, yes ?
Thing is I was trying to get my local library updated and, as I thought it, back in order, but was finding my local genre updates were being overwritten. I had a lot of tracks that kept on stating they could be downloaded so I thought the new files hadn't been copied down...
I think I was trying to get match to do too many things at once.
Deleting my tracks in the cloud? Was an act of desperation to start over with all known good genres locally and to re- upload, start over. I'd read in some forum or other to do that, I guess that was wrong,
Ok so I will.. Err,
A wait and see how long it takes to delete my tracks in the cloud ie let it complete the process I'd already started.
B Correct my local tracks genres
C Wait til those changes propagate up to the iCloud ( or whatever the right term is)
Q1: How long should I wait for A and C to complete?
Q2: Is it 100% definite that local genre changes will get copied up to the cloud, when I 'update iTunes match'?
I don't see any animated cloud icon, but I will watch for it!
Thanks again

ADK Installation root registry not found?
Hi,
I am trying to image some machines in one location and for some reason we aren't able to. Basically it just PXE boots, finds it in the collection and then it is stopped with a command prompt open "x:\sms\bin\x64>" and doesn't do anything after

every time i download itunes it says some of my registry keys are missing. i tried downloading again but same thing happens. what can i do to fix this.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component, such as Apple Application Support, won't install normally.

How does iCloud manage app data( like whatsapp) ? Does it overwrite the data everytime I backup to I cloud with the data on the phone when i backup or it merges the data from previous backups with the new data?
You need to subscribe to iTunes Match to store your music on iCloud:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/
To transfer iTunes Store purchases made on your phone to your computer, connect your phone then choose "Transfer purchases..." from the File menu in iTunes.
Photostream transfers photos taken on your iOS devices to other devices and your computer. For troubleshooting Photostream see: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3989 -

what can be goes wrong with my steps to receive the above error?? i tried in windows XP and Vista, and i getting the same error message as above.
Your urgent help and advise is needed plssssssss.......
Many thanks in advance. The URL doesn't seem correct: http://domain.com/form60java/oracle/forms/registry/Registry.dat
I'm expecting a slash (/) between forms60 and java. Have a look in the formsweb.cfg if any paths are misconfigured.
Also, try if the URL with the slash:
http://domain.com/form60/java/oracle/forms/registry/Registry.dat
does work when you just paste it in a browser. It should download the Registry.dat file -

And also did not resolve the error then appealed to the Deployment Guide in página157 --http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/products/forms/htdocs/install/Materials/doc/EN/B14032_02.pdf
A.2.3.6 FRM-92120
Cause:
This is a server configuration error, which occurs when the client is unable to find the
file Registry.dat on the middle tier.
Solution:
When this error occurs, check if the file Registry.dat is present on the middle tier in the
directory ORACLE_HOME/forms/java/oracle/forms/registry. If it is not
present, then it needs to be placed.
In a running Forms application, if you suddenly come across this error, there is a
possibility that the HTTP server has gone down. You may verify this by typing the
Diagnosing Server Crashes with Stack Traces
A-8 Deployment Guide
URL http://myserver.com:NNNN in your browser. Here you need to replace
myserver.com with your host name and NNNN with your HTTP server’s port
number. If your browser says that it could not connect to the server, then your HTTP
server is down and you need to contact your system administrator to bring it up.
When the HTTP server is up and running, on giving the URL
http://myserver.com:NNNN your browser will show the “OracleAS welcome”.

also had no positive effect.
I test in different browsers, different machines, the Jinitiator removed and installed again.
The versions I'm using are
EBS - R12.0.4
Java 1.6.0_15
Browsers - IE 8 e Mozzila Firefox 3.0
Can someone suggest something else.
Extremely grateful for any suggestion.Hi,
What changes have been done recently?
Did AutoConfig complete successfully on all tiers?
If SSL has been enabled recently, please run SSL diagnostics tests and make sure all runs successfully -- Search "My Oracle Support" for "SSL Diagnostics R12".
Enable debug and see if you get more details about the error -- See (Note: 422419.1 - R12, 12.1.1 - How To Enable and Collect Debug for HTTP, OC4J and OPMN) and (Note: 438652.1 - R12: Forms Runtime Diagnostics (FRD), Tracing And Logging For Forms In Oracle Applications).

when i go to sync my apps with my computer it tells me ''are you sure you want to sync apps ? all exsisting apps and there data on (iphone) will be replaced with the apps on this itunes library'' does this mean all my data will be lost if i continue ?
Regarding your broken, previously authorized computer, here's how that works:
You would authorize your new computer -- maybe you've done that already. Then you will have two computers authorized. Apple allows you to have up to five computers authorized at any time. If you get to five, you can then go to your account details in iTunes and remove all authorizations.
Bear in mind this is not saying you can synch to more tham one library. Razmee209 and gdgmacguy's comments above are correct. But if Apple only allowed you to authorize one computer at a time, then having a broken computer would mean you could no longer use your Apple ID with iTunes. -
I have backed up my old phone to itunes, however, when I try to restore data to my new phone it is saying the password is incorrect but I can get into my itunes account with my password so I am doing something wrong?
I'm having this EXACT same problem with my iPhone 4, and I have the same computer stats (I have a Samsung Series 7)

I have this question too
No, that would not work.
Verizon would not accept an Apple iTunes Gift Card for payment on your data plan and Apple would not accept a Verizon Gift Card for payment in the App Store or iTunes.
They are two different vendors that only accept their own gift cards in their own stores. -
I have an ipod touch and am trying to update ios to 5.1 from 4.2.1. When I connect to itunes, it says it is up to date but it is not. How do I update?
Please verify the model number from the back. If it is A1288, it is a 2nd generation unit and can not be upgraded beyond 4.2.1

I am running Windows 7 64bit. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and ran the installer. This message pops up, I click OK and the installation continues. Then, when I try to launch iTunes I get this: "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 5)". I have also received this error message even when the installation hasn't had any problems. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, repaired my .net framework, uninstalled all components following the steps in Article: HT1923 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 all to no avail. It still won't run. It was working perfectly before I updated it to 10.7. After that it all went to crap. I even tried installing the previous version and still get this error message. Any suggestions?
Okay ... so it's not one of the cases of bodged up ACLs on the Apple folder in Common Files. (That's been underlying a few of the recalcitrant E7W5s.
Just in case, let's try the fixit from the following document:
