ITunes 7.0.1 Search - Reduced functionality

I used to be able to search the Comment field on the Info page of song tracks. Anyone any idea why this feature has been removed and there is a quick way to fix it?

Plain and simple, iTunes 7 is crap. I upgraded - may I should say downgraded with how it works - to 7.0.1 and it crashed as soon as I pressed the play button. Really giving a lot of thought to going back to 6.0.5.
jharkin and mpacific, I turned gapless playback off. It did lessen the number of crashes I have now. If you turn on crossfade playback only albums set for gapless playback will use the feature. Maybe you have already tried this...
Really what is the point to gapless playback? We already have "join CD tracks" so why do we need gapless playback? Hmm...maybe I'm missing something.
All this iTunes 7 crap really stinks. I feel like I'm stuck in a bad dream, dealing with Microsoft and can't wake up.

iTunes crashes when doing a power search. I get a Microsoft Visual C Runtime Library Error message: Program C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe R6025. Pure virtual functional call. If I select ok, Windows 7 pops up with iTunes has stopped working and then it shuts iTunes down. Anyone else every have this issue. Any ideas on a fix?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

I have version 5.7 and every time I opened it I was told that updates are available and to click on the icon to access these. Instead it just took me to the
adobe page with nowhere visible to update. I then sought to download lightroom cc and this is when I could not access the 'develop' section due to reduced
functionality It was apparent that my photos had been put in cc but no way to access them unless I wanted to subscribe.
I have since remedied the problem as my original lightroom 5.7 icon is still available on the desktop and have gone back to that. I do feel that this is a bit
of a rip off and an unnecessary waste of my time though.

Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
Turn the Phone On...

ITunes no longer automatically searching Grace Note DB

For some reason my iTunes has stopped automatically searching for song titles in the Grace Note DB. It gets the songs when I tell it to retireve them but no longer does it as soon as I put the disc in the machine.
I am running on Windows XP and haven't downloaded iTunes 7.0 yet.

Have a look at the iTunes Edit menu > Advanced tab > Importing sub-tab and see if Automatically retrieve CD track names from internet is checked or not.

How to use search/find function in a whole book?

Hi,
New to indesign... working on a book file which comprises 25 chapters.
I'd like to do a final proof to ensure all double spaces have gone, all quote marks are right etc
Instead of opening each chapter and using "search/find" through each chapter, can i tell the "search/find" function through the whole book?

Apparently Adobe thought that would be more appreciated than a book-wide Search/Replace.

The "Book" feature doesn't even get mentioned under "Sorry, we didn't change that at all." Also make sure to read the comments -- it seems lots of people really want more book features.

Bank statement upload - change posting rule with search pattern function

Hi Experts,
I am trying to set up electronic bank statement. When clearing customer accounts I have some cases where the posting rule should be changed.
I have for example the following text somewhere in the reference field:
CASHPOOL.
If found, I would like the posting rule changed so only GL-area is posted and not a clearing on customer account required.
I set this up in the search pattern
C > G
A > L
S > 0
H > 1
P
O
O
L
GL01 is the posting rule, that only posts area 1.
I have assigned this pattern to the specific external code and also activated it. In the simulation function in the definition of the pattern I get the result (2 hits).
However, when reading the statement (FF_5) nothing is changed and also in simulation transaction FEBSTS or in statement post-processing I do not see anything.
Does anyone know whether I could get around this with the search pattern functionality here? What and how would I need to set it up to cover those case as above?

we have assigned the search string as well as the external transaction in global EBS settings to 031 algorithm`(customer from document nubmer), as in normal cases customer invoices are to be cleared here and this is working fine.
For this search pattern here with GL01 we would like to change the rule.
However, my tests with statement does not work for that. The rule stays as is.
So, from your words I read that I need to have here a second rule that changes the algorithm? Is this possible, what would I need to set so the original use is still working out (that customer items are cleared).

Hyperion Planning search member function error

Hi,
We have a Oracle EPM 11.1.1.3 64 bit implementation on windows 2003 R2 servers. Users are authenticated externally through shared services. For only one user the planning search member function doesn't work correctly.
When the user clicks on the search member function in a data form, he gets redirected to the login page.
Please note that this just happens for only one user irrespective of the machine from where he logs on. For all other 500 or so users the search function works fine.

Can this user drill into this dimension using SmartView/Classic add-in?
IOW, is this a weird security issue that only manifests itself in POV dropdowns, or does the security work when trying to retrieve when in rows.
If you create another username with the same security, does it behave the same way?

Can't find any samples myself either, so the only pointer we/i have is the userguide...and i assume you already tried the example call they use in there (XPath Extension Functions - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.6.3))
have to test it myself too to find out how it works...

Search & Replace function in Files?

Does there exist a "Search & Replace String" function for Files IO? ...preferable RandomAccessFile.
Or do I have to make my own parser from scratch.
Anyone know of free code that exists somewhere? This seems like a function that someone must have made at least or has a use for.

The JDeveloper Editor provides Search & Replace functionality for files.
What I typically do is
Select menu: Search | Search Source Path...
Enter Search String and Change Source path
and other fields and press Start
Then the Navigator displays a Search tab which lists all files with the matching string.
Double click on first file in navigator and
select menu Search | Replace
In this dialog enter your search, replace, and other options-
In the Options, If you do not want to be prompted, do not check the Prompt on replace option.
Select the Scope of Global
Selectg the Origin of Entire
When you are ready press the Multiple button to make multiple replacements.
When you are done with this file,
Press Ctrl-S to Save the file
Press Ctrl-F4 to close the window
Double click on the Next File
Press Ctrl-R to invoke the Search | Replace dialog.
You should not need to change any options.
Press Alt-M to select the Multiple Button!
While this may seem more complex then a simple Sed / Perl / Python script, it is more controllable, flexible and user friendly.
Besides, you may learn a few JDeveloper tricks.

Reduced Functionality Mode - Office 2013

Is it possible to force Office 2013 (volume license) into a Reduced Functionality Mode straight away without having to wait out the 30-day trial?
I have a fairly niche application with regular imaging and I'd like my default images to have read-only Office installed. Hardware that needs editing can then have a product key entered to activate and unlock.

Reduced functionality?

I can't believe there would be reduced functionality when moving from Acrobat 7 to Acrobat 8, so it must be that I am overlooking something.
In Acrobat 7, on my desktop computer, I easily created a footer using 36 pt. Arial Black Italic. When I tried to edit the footer in Acrobat 8, on my work computer, I cannot get get the italic effect. It simply isn't listed, even though it is an available font on that computer.
I was willing to take the easy way out and finalize the document on my home computer with version 7, but ...
In the same document, on my work computer with Acrobat 8, I formatted a page number in the header with two arrow characters available in charmap. When I get back to my home computer and Acrobat 7, those same two characters will not appear. They show only as a black box, which usually means that they are not available to the printer. The characters will print in all other applications such as Page Maker, Word, WordPerfect, etc.
What gives here? With two different versions available, you would think that I could accomplish the desired effect for this document.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Search menu function is not working in one of my HRMS 9.1 (PT: 8.52.09 application.
Verity installed and executed the build registry search index aswell.
Please let me know if I miss something on configuring the search menu function.

Personally I did not have to make any psappsrv.cfg changes for this particular 9.1 env or any other changes that I can remember. Is PS_HOME = PS_CFG_HOME though?
If you didn't specifically set PS_CFG_HOME to PS_HOME it defaults to something like $HOME/psft and the files would need to be there instead.
If you run psadmin what's it show as the Config Home?
If I unset PS_CFG_HOME i get

Config Home: /home/psoft/psft/pt/8.52And the files would need to be there rather than $PS_HOME/data/....
Now you could override that in your psappsrv.cfg file with
EMPLOYEE=PS_HOME/data/search PS_HOME I dont think can be used here as a variable... it needs to be the full path. the location here must lead directly to the EMPLOYEE directory
In 8.52 there are also some alternatives to this older style above.

In the past I've used shares or nfs mounts to have the process scheduler write directly to the appserver. But you could check out the new search server option too.
