ITunes 7.0.2 does not play sometimes

Hello,
Today I had a problem with iTunes 7.0.2 after security update nr. 8:
iTunes opens but if I want to play anything (Podcast, mp3, aac, ...) the play symbol moves to the "Pause" sign but it does not play - the clock stays at 0:00 and does not move.
Opening the file with Quicktime from finder "plays" but no audio signal is produced.
After logout and login, the clock starts but there is also no audio signal produced from iTunes.
After doing the "Windows" solution (rebooting again) all seems to be OK (iTunes works again) but I have a bad feeling about this. Has anyone similar problems or can point to the failure reason?
MacBook Pro 2,33 Ghz Mac OS X (10.4.8) 2 GB RAM

Same Problem with 4GB HP Ipod mini. Summary tab doesn't show up after connecting thru USB. Same on another PC I have with latest iTunes 7. I can copy and delete to the IPOD through My Computer. Another video iPod works fine....Anyone know where to ship for service?

ITunes 7.6 Bug: Does not play music from Intelligent Playlists

Since I upgraded to iTunes 7.6 I can no longer play music from my intelligent playlists. Whenever I try it will remove the song from the playlist instead of playing it.
Has anybody else experienced this and maybe found a solution?
And if not, how can I downgrade to iTunes 7.5?

... and one other thing: I had to re-activate my computer repeatedly to be able to listen to the music bought in the iTunes store. After several vain attempts it finally worked when I accessed the piece directly in my music library instead of from a playlist. However, my computer was re-activated as a new pc although it had been activiated already before the upgrade.
And as to changing the infos - in my case to Soundtrack - this works only as long as the intelligent playlist tries to actually play he song. Then the info changes back automatically to the former status - in my case the German "Filmmusik" (meaning soundtrack in German).
So it seems that this is simply a localisation (or purely German?) problem with iTunes getting mixed-up with the non-English and English definitions. I now have changed all genre infos to "Filmmusik" instead of Soundtrack, and voila, it is working. - Very strange, indeed.
Anyway, for the time being I will not mark this thread as solved as I am not sure that this is the permanent solution.

Itunes 7 loads but does not play

upgraded today and itunes 7 loaded fine did its gap analysis thing. but when i select a track it just doesnt play - like it is on pause. when i quit itunes i get this message:

Your error says it all. And so has the forum in multiple threads if you search. Trash the OSS 3D plugin.

When i updated the new itunes all my music does not play all the way. some of the song is missing. how do i fix this problem

Does the music play properly in iTunes? You may need to backup and then immediately restore the device.

ITunes Playlist(multiple songs) Does Not Play During Slide Show in IDVD5

I have a Itunes playlist that contail 3 songs. They play in Iphoto during the slideshow. However, only the first song plays in IDVD 5 andnot the others. But during preview all the songsplay. Anyone have any ideas.

If you look around the forums, you'll see this is a relatively common problem. Although it makes no sense that Apple lets this continue, a couple options are to Export/Share the slideshow to Full-Quality DV (a Quicktime movie) and:
- import into iMovie and add the songs, or
- use Quicktime Pro ($30) to open your songs, then copy and paste them into the slideshow QT file.

All of the sudden iTunes not playing (sometimes)

Out of the blue I have found the oddest behavior from iTunes.
Songs just do not play.
All button work, everything seems in order, but when I press the play button the playhead does not move. I can scrub into the song, but when I release it does not play. It is as if it is in pause, but it is not?
I restart fixes the issue.
I have never had any problems with iTunes, before I start re-installing or trashing the prefs and .plist I was hoping for some feedback.
If I open an audio file in any other program it plays just fine.
No other odd behavior that I have seen

ITunes player does not play songs since upgrading to 10.5.1; not fixed with 10.5.2 upgrade. What now?

After upgrading iTunes on my laptop to version 10.5.1, my player will NOT play any songs. My Library seems intact and no songs appear to be missing, but no song will play --not a song downloaded from iTunes Store, nor a song downloaded from a CD. I was hoping version 10.5.2 would fix this, but apparently not. Still not working. Songs do play on my iPod and on my iPhone and I can transfer songs from my laptop to my devices; I can also download Apps to my laptop through the iTunes Store, etc.--all other functions of iTunes seem to be okay, only the player is not working. (My laptop is an hp Probook with Intel i5 chip, Windows 7 Pro OS.)

Does it look like the song is playing at the top of iTunes? Can you see the timer moving?
Also, make sure the volume slider isn't all the way to the left (mute).

ITunes 11.1.5.5 on my Windows 7 PC does not play songs

WIndows 7 64 bit, iTunes does not play music

I have new computer WIndows 7 64 bit, I installed the iTunes successfully and can open it. But when I click on the music, they just don't play the music at all. I have tried uninstall and reinstall the itunes, but it still does not work.

I could not find an option to "report a problem".
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entry, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)

It seems like iTunes on your Mac is not playing songs at all, and the play counter is stuck at 0:00.

Certainly you can use your iPad, start iTunes, sign-in to iTunes Store and turn-on iTunes Match. Provided you use the same Apple Id as the library that you initially enabled iTunes Match on you will see all the Songs available. These can then be played.

Itunes does not play on windows 8

All of my songs were backed up on an external hard drive, but when I loaded them onto my windows 8 computer after authorizing that computer, it does not play the songs.

itunes is still not compactible with windows 8, so wait for some ime till new version of itunes launches which is compactible with windows 8.

ITunes shows mp3 Files in library but does not play them?

I am having trouble with my library. I have a number of tracks in my iTunes folder which show up in my library, however when I click on them, nothing at all happens. The Diamond does not move and the track does not play.
This is odd, as other tracks on the album, and which are included in the album folder do play, but iTunes has decided it won't play some of the tracks.
Interestingly, the tracks it does play all show up with the album artwork if I view the folder, however the ones it does not play only show up with the MP3 file icon. And just to throw another twist in, I can play the files which iTunes wont play, in cover flow...
So how do I gt iTunes to play all the songs again? Will rebuilding my library work?
And finally, iTunes has categorised a load of album files in an "unknown" folder, despite these files having full artist, album, genre etc information in their tag. Can I get iTunes to put these into the correct albums somehow?

As for the files not playing, you might want to check their permissions. Select the mp3 files in your finder, go to File>Get Info, look under Sharing & Permissions, and make sure you have Read & Write
privileges.
