ITunes 7.0.2 doesn't install, iTunes store is strange, and more...

Clicking "Support" brings me to the Japanese apple web site.
When I try to install 7.0.2 I get this message: This installation cannot directly upgrade the version of iPod software found on this computer. Please uninstall the iPod software and try again.
I've uninstalled the iPod software, removed iTunes and QuickTime, I physically deleted all the folder from the Program File directory, restarted, then used a registry cleaner, and tried again.
I can't even find anything named "iPod" in my Add/Remove Programs list, nor in the Program Files folder (although the old version of iTunes does still "talk" to my iPod while it's plugged into my computer). Should I be looking somewhere else for this software? Is there some .dll file in the Windows System 32 folder that I need to delete too? What file is the installer hitting that causes this error?

This installation cannot directly upgrade the version of iPod software found on this computer. Please uninstall the iPod software and try again.
okay, try downloading and installing the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to check for any installation configuration information entries for "iPod Updater [date]" or "iPod for Windows [date]". if you find any, remove them with CleanUp.

does an itunes install go through after doing that?

I have an HP Officejet Pro 7580 similar to the 8600 you have and after upgrading to Mountain Lion it wouldn't work. HP support site said download updates for Mountain Lion from App Store not their site so I went to software update but there were NO UPDATES FOR 10.8.  Tried a million things and could not get printer to work.  So I restored back to Lion figuring at least printer worked then only now I can't get it to work with old settings either. I am sick to death of claims by Apple and peripheral manufacturers that everything is compatible all you have to do is get updates well in this case THERE ARE NONE TO BE GOT and I don't have time to **** about trying to find 'work arounds'.  There shouldnt be a need for work-arounds. Unless the updates are ready DONT release the new OS.  You shouldn't have to be an IT tech to make basic things like printing work.  I see also the HP 8600 is even sold by appstore so there is no reason why it shouldn't work with minimum fuss.

  • I try to download the newest version of iTunes, but get the following message: "Install iTunes.pkg". This package type requires Mac OS X 10.5." What do I do now?

I try to download the newest version of iTunes, but get the following message: "Install iTunes.pkg". This package type requires Mac OS X 10.5." What do I do now?
I have Mac OS X 10.4.11, and don't know how to upgrade to 10.5.

Here are ways to update to Lion (Mac OS X 10.7):
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/how-to-buy/
It requires you to have Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) installed, which can be obtained from the Apple Store.
You being on Mac OS X 10.4 makes it an old system, 10.6 and 10.7 require an Intel processor at least with Lion demanding an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor.
    What system do you have?

  • ITunes 10.1.1. doesn't install due to Quick Time not installed correctly

Somebody please help me! I am trying to install iTunes 10.1.1. but always get the error "...QuickTime did not install correctly...". I have removed QuickTime and installed the latest version but still get the same error. I'm using Vista 32-bit.
Problem is that here in Africa downloads are extremely slow and expensive, I have already downloaded iTunes+QuickTime as well as QuickTime separately but always get the same error. Currently I am using iTunes 10.0.6.68, which works fine, but I cannot update the iPod software without iTunes 10.1.1.
Any solution that can work will be highly appreciated!

This drives me nuts. All I ask is that iTunes remembers how I like to sort my media, and that it plays in the order in which I have chosen to sort.
I've had this problem since I edited the "year" field in all my music, just so I could sort and listen to it chronologically. Isn't that the order that makes the most sense?
I figure it would only take a small edit to the iTunes programming so that it remembers the order in which you sort, instead of defaulting to alphabetical all the time.
I suggest telling Apple directly: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
Maybe enough of us can make a change.

  • Why did the iTunes update screw up the already installed iTunes on my computer?  I can't sync my iPod to my computer because it now says iTunes was installed incorrectly.  Re-install iTunes.  I've tried to install it 3 different times.  It's NOT working.

I had attempted to update my iTunes so I could go ahead and clear out some of my songs on my iPod that I no longer care to listen to at the moment.  When I finished updating and attempted to open iTunes, I was given an error
These are the two error messages.  I've tried uninstalling and re-installing several times.  Still receiving the same errors....  Help.

    Hi carmekino,
Try using the following article to help you uninstall iTunes and its related components, keeping in mind that these components need to be uninstalled in this specific order:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.

I just installed itunes on a Windows 7 PC. When I click on the Itunes icon the following message appears -
The Itunes Library.itl file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the "Itunes" folder in the "Music" folder.
I have checked and there is a file named Library.itl in the "Music" folder. I'm not sure where to go from here so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Using a Mac desktop, with snow leopard.  Itunes says "this copy of itunes is corrupted or is not installed  itunes is corrupted or not installed correctly correctly".  How to fix this problem

Using snow leopard on a mac desktop.  Itunes states that this copy of itunes is corrupted or is no installed correctly.  Need help.

Try installing (not updating) iTunes (from scratch).
You can do that from this (Apple) site:
    iTunes 11.0.3

  • Itunes will not open, uninstall or install, Itunes will not open, uninstall or install

Eversince I got the itunes message to upgrade my itunes my itunes has stopped working. I cannot open itunes, I can't uninstall it and I cant install a new itunes setup. What is going on?!
Everytime I click itunes to open I get this message: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriatepermissions to access the item."
Ok so my next step is to check the permissions for the actual program and I have all administrator permissions linked to my account!
So then I thought maybe I should just uninstall it and start over... Go to control panel, uninstall itunes....  I get this message from itunes "The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: C:\program files\itunes\acknowledgements.rtf" ... Weird... So I go to that address and try and delete or open the file... I get a message saying I have no permission to do so... so I guess I have to see if I can change the permissions right?! Still same thing... I have all admin permission for this file AND for all of my itunes file! :/
Fine... let me see if I can install itunes instead... Go to the itunes website... enter email... download setup... open setup... I get the same message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriatepermissions to access the item."
Can ANYONE help?! What am I doing wrong here?

Did anyone get back to you on the issue?

  • ITunes lost library. now can't install iTunes at all!!??

I have iTunes on a iMac running the latest of everything. A year or more ago I transferred the iTunes library to an external drive and marked it on my start up drive with an alias. Worked great until today. I turned on iTunes and no music at all! I checked and it is still on the hard drive and the advanced prefernces shows it still pointing to the other hard drive. I tried everything I could find on the Apple support pages and this list and others and nothing works. I finally trashed iTunes and everything connected to it on the start up drive. I downloaded iTunes 6.0.4 and tried installing it. I get to the install button, click on it and it says - "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install". On customize install all options are greyed out and the word 'skip' is in the next column. iTunes shows 0 bytes! Easy install will not work either.
I finally connected the hard drive to my powerbook and confirmed the music is still there but I lost all playlists and folders.
I called Apple support but they want $49 to help isolate the problem with no guarantee they can fix it.
Anyone out there able to help?
    Thanks, Mike
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   External harddrive not showing on About this Mac though is accesible on desk top

    Mike,
The song locations, playlists, ratings and Date Added are all stored in the 'iTunes Library' file. (more info here).
It appears to me, the file got corrupted or missing.
If the file got corrupted, you should have gotten a message about a 'damaged library file' or something like that.
The one you now have is empty and contains no data. You might take a look in the 'Previous iTunes Libraries' folder inside the iTunes folder.
If there are still older versions available, use the most recent one, rename it to 'iTunes Library' and put it in the iTunes folder, replacing the one just created.
That might bring most contents back.
Working with an alias might complicate the restoring process. I'm not enthousiast about those. I prefer creating symlinks. They seem to be more stable with OS X.
To bring back the remainder, drag and drop the 'iTunes Music' alias on the library window in iTunes. I'm not sure if this will work with aliases, but it could add the possible missing contents to the library.
If no other library files are found, I'm afraid you have to start from scratch.

  • IPod nano needs iTunes 7, but I can't install iTunes 7

    Hello there.
I got my first Mac on Thursday, and I love it.. so far. It's an old iMac DV Special Edition. It's running OS X 10.2.8, and it has 128MB RAM. Now, I went to plug my iPod nano 2G into it, and it said that I needed iTunes 7. Well, when I googled iTunes 7 requirements, too see if I could run it, it said that it needs 10.4. Now, is there any way I could get my iPod to show up on my iMac and be able to manage my music, photos, etc? Or will I have to do it on my PC. I would rather do it on my iMac, but if it's not possible without upgrading my iMac, I understand.

  • ITunes 12.0.1 doesn't install correctly

I was running iTunes 11.4 perfectly fine and then I updated to 12, but when trying to open it, it just says "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 5). I have reinstalled plenty of times over the course of 2 weeks. I tried uninstalling every Apple program in a certain order and reinstalled, but with no prevail. I also tried deleting a certain file in the iTunes folder too. Please help.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • This Iphone can not be used because the required software is not installed.  Run the itunes installer to remove ituntes then install itunes again.

This is the error I keep getting.  Anyone know what to do?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
