ITunes 7.0.2 freezes a few seconds after I open it

Every time I open my iTunes, it works fine for about 2-3 seconds (enough time for me to go to my music library or to connect to the iTunes store) and then it completely freezes. Nothing looks different on the screen, but I can't scroll, play any music, change folders, or do anything. When I open task manager, it says iTunes is not responding.
I uninstalled Quicktime (and then deleted the quicktime folders from "Program Folders" and "C:\Windows\system32\"), restarted my computer, turned off my security anti-virus program and then repaired iTunes, but that didn't change anything.
No error messages come up or anything like that; it just freezes every time. Thank you for any help you can give.

I have OS 3.1.3 and around 10 smart playlists. I used to turn off Live Updating when I'd sync my smart playlists, but when I updated to the latest OS, I left it on because I thought they had fixed it. >_<
I can't look at my smart playlists right now because iTunes isn't recognizing my iTouch at the moment -- the iTunes and Music app problems occurred at the same time, and I was hoping that fixing the Music app problem would also fix the iTunes problem.
... While I was writing this response, I used MediaMonkey to +sort of+ fix the problem. My iTouch was appearing in MediaMonkey with no songs; I added a song to my iTouch using MediaMonkey, and after that the Music app worked and iTunes recognized my iTouch. Yay!
However, I can't see most of my music library -- I only see the songs I had purchased on my iTouch. I suspect that the rest of my music is still floating around on my iTouch somewhere, though, because now I have a big chunk of memory taken up by (orange) Other data.

  • Mouse cursor freezes a few seconds after start-up? Need help!

    Laptop: Samsung Series 9
    OS: Windows 8.1
Problem: since booting up my computer today, my cursor will freeze about 30 seconds after boot-up. Prior to this, I'll be able to move my cursor for a few seconds as I normally would, but then I will inevitably see the blue loading circle next to the cursor
and then my cursor will be frozen in place. I can still use my keyboard/everything else functions regularly. I decided to boot up my computer in safe mode and my cursor works fine. Clearly then, there must be some software/start-up issue?
I should note that I used my laptop fine yesterday night. When I booted it up today my cursor froze and I saw the restart prompt that said windows will restart on its own in 1 day to update. So I updated/restarted and the problem persists.

  • Address  Book freezes a few seconds after opening:  'non-reponsive'

Address Book Menus show but get beach ball of death in a few seconds. Does open normally under alternate user. Status: have reloaded and updated 15.3 with auto restoration of settings and have deleted various Address Book .plists and all 'Address Book Files' all to no avail. User doesn't use Mail, but has Skype operating. Haven't checked to see if Mail opens correctly. Obviously I can't open permission. i'll need help on how to implement suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I fixed the problem. FYI, it was a font problem. It turns out that somehow I had acquired a duplicate of Helvetica. I could tell there was a duplicate because there was a bullet to the right of the listing in FontBook.
To fix, highlight the font (Helvetica) and go to Edit/Resolve Duplicates.
Address Book now opens and I can access all my contacts.
In addition, it resolved a problem I had with the computer not shutting down. AND it resolved the problem of my Mail icon in the Dock not showing the little red circle when I had unread mail.
    I am thrilled.
Help this might help anyone else.
    Sincerely,
    Gale

  • Music app quits a few seconds after I open it

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with the default Music app -- it quits about four seconds after I open it. During those four seconds, I can scroll through the list of artists whose songs I have, but if I try to select an artist or change to a different list (Playlists, Songs, etc.), the Music app will close immediately.
All of my other default and downloaded apps work perfectly.
I've tried doing the force restart, but that didn't help. Is there anything else I can try besides restoring my itouch to factory settings?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Reader XI freezes 2-3 seconds after I open it, every time!

This problem started when I downloaded reader XI.  It didn't happen in reader 9, or whatever the previous version was on my computer.  The little timer on the right moves clockwise 2-3 clicks and then it freezes.  About 20 seconds after being frozen, it closes.  Same thing happens when I try to open a pdf.  No error messages or anything.  I'm running windows 7 on a dell latitude E5530 (laptop).  No idea what's going on.  Here's a screenshot.  Help please.  Go easy please.  I'm not super smart when it comes to computer jargon.

You can try using Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement

  • ITunes freezes a few seconds after opening

When I open iTunes it freezes up and the task manager says that iTunes is "not responding" while everything else works normally.

Ok I have been working on this one for a few days now with no success. This is what has happened so far....
About a week or two ago iCal started crashing on startup. When this started it also brought up a conflict window involving 4 conflicts. They all seemed to be recurring events (birthdays etc..). The conflict seemed to be in the end date for the recurring event. The end date for all recurring events seemed to have changed to one day later in my iCal calendar but not on mobile me, therefore causing the conflict. Anyway iCal continued to crash about 5-10 secs after opening every single time.
I tried verifying and repairing permissions with no success.
I tried deleting a bunch of .plist files which I had read about in other forums with no success.
I tried a reinstall of the OS keeping settings and preferences with no success.
I tried a complete erase and reinstall this morning. After downloading and reinstalling all updates I opened iCal and it seemed to work fine.
I then signed in to mobile me and started syncing. Contacts and safari bookmarks synced just fine. I then synced calendars and opened iCal. Exactly the same crash problem occurred. This has got me thinking that there is some sort of corruption in my calendars stored in mobile me.
My iphone is synced to the same calendars in mobile me and has no issues. I considered syncing my phone to my macbook via USB, and then replacing the data in mobile me with that on my mac, but to do this I need to disable sync between my phone and mobile me. When I go to do this the phone tells me it is going to delete all calendars on the phone.
I would dearly love to find a solution to this problem if anyone can help.

  • Firefox freezes about five seconds after I open it, and whenever I use Ctrl+alt+delete to close it I get told that it is waiting for a response from me.

I am having a problem with Firefox. Whenever I open it, it runs fine for about five seconds and then freezes. A small white rectangle appears in the upper left corner of the browser window. The screen still scrolls fine, but whenever I try clicking on anything (including the menus in the toolbar), it just gives me an unresponsive 'ding' sound. When I try closing the programme with Ctrl+alt+delete, I get a message saying 'The system cannot end this programme as it is waiting for a response from you'. I originally had this problem with an earlier version of Firefox and tried installing Firefox 4 to see if this helped. It worked for two days and began doing it again. I have already tried un- and re-installing Firefox and restarting my computer, and Firefox will not run properly for long enough to let me disable any add-ons or plug-ins. What can I do to fix this?
I've added a couple of screencaps of the problem. (or tried to)

  • [Solved] Screen freezes few seconds after logging in.

    Hey there.
I'm looking for some guidance if possible.
I installed Arch in an external hard drive to test out the compatibility with my laptop (a LG P1-J331P > http://pastie.org/8548089 ) with an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 video card. All following the beginner's guide [https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners%27_Guide] and relevant wiki for the external/usb device installation [https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Usb_installation].
Running arch with "nomodeset" on kernel parameter, it runs normally, except that the screen resolution was fixed at [email protected], though it should be maxed at 1280x800@60.
    When "nomodeset" is set:
    $dmesg | grep radeon
[ 10.859500] [drm] VGACON disable radeon kernel modesetting.
[ 10.859507] [drm:radeon_init] *ERROR* No UMS support in radeon module!
Without using "nomodeset", the system detects correctly the screen resolution but it freezes few seconds later after logging. Can't Ctrl+Alt+F1.
    Tried:
    - added "radeon" to MODULES array in the mkinitcpio file. And run the subsequent "mkinitcpio -p linux";
    - created a "/etc/rc.d/rc.local" file with contents:
    modprobe -r radeon
    modprobe -r drm
    modprobe radeon modeset=1
    - tested "radeon.pcie_gen2=0", "pci=nomsi", "noapic" and "acpi=off" to the kernel parameter.
    - created a "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf" file with contents: http://pastie.org/private/bhcbfvs3zvplvspwamxa2q
Video card drivers installed: mesa, xf86-video-vesa and xf86-video-ati.
    lsmod > http://pastie.org/private/orfrp0qg8kijqwuvrrxqag
    uname -r > http://pastie.org/private/u89igykam0slvnv2ffhhpq
    lspci | grep VGA >
    dmesg | grep radeon >
    journalctl --since=today >
    cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log > http://pastie.org/private/thgrsplegancpggsfsbjlw
    top -b > http://codepad.org/iojWRb9U
Any advice for this newbie would be appreciated.

    - Tried creating a "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-radeon.conf" file with contents:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "ATI Mobility Radeon X1400"
    Driver "radeon"
Option "SWcursor" "off" #software cursor might be necessary on some rare occasions, hence set off by default
Option "EnablePageFlip" "on" #supported on all R/RV/RS4xx and older hardware, and set on by default
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" #valid options are XAA, EXA and Glamor. EXA is the default
Option "RenderAccel" "on" #enabled by default on all radeon hardware
Option "ColorTiling" "on" #enabled by default on RV300 and later radeon cards
Option "EXAVSync" "off" #default is off, otherwise on. Only works if EXA activated
Option "EXAPixmaps" "on" #when on icreases 2D performance, but may also cause artifacts on some old cards. Only works if EXA activated
Option "AccelDFS" "on" #default is off, read the radeon manpage for more information
    EndSection
        And the subsequent Xorg.0.log > http://pastie.org/private/goyhnu9bzxhzybl4sisaa
With this file and using "nomodeset", the boot would be stuck at :
[ OK ] Reached target Graphical Interface.
But without "nomodeset" parameter, it would successfully launch the graphical login but still freezes a few seconds after logging in.
    xdpyinfo | grep -B2 resolution
    screen #0:
    dimensions: 1280x800 pixels (338x211 millimeters)
    resolution: 96x96 dots per inch

  • My macbook pro freezes every few seconds

    Hi everyone!
About a week ago my MBP started freezing every few seconds showing the well known spinning beach balls every time, even when running no apps, I've sepnt plenty of time looking for a solution, I've read this problem might be due to a physically damaged hard drive, bt I've tested it several times using different apps and it shows no error, I've read from another discussion about Etrecheck as a useful app to quickly gather certain system information that may help point to a cause of this problem, so I hope some of you guys can help me checking the log output. • I believe OS 10.10.2 is causing my mac to freeze every few seconds.

For the last two weeks or so, my MacBook Pro (2011) has been freezing every few seconds. I can barley type this now. When I pull up Activity Monitor, it shows my memory running at 3.0+ out of 4 GB's. I've tried everything I could think of. My Mac is more of a internet surfing comp so I didn't mind reinstalling OS. It worked great for about 30 minutes then everything started to freeze again. Im curious if anyone else is having this issue and if anyone's figured out how to fix it. I ran a diagnostic on my ram and thats not the issue. Im to the point of upgrading my ram but i think it's dumb reverting to that when the 4 GB has been plenty for me in the past.
    Thank You.

Cannot get iPad 2 charged beyond 1%.  All charging ports tried: AC adapter(s), USB 2 port on MacBook Pro. ITunes shows iPad only for a few seconds. iPad displays alternately: Apple logo, battery w/slim red band, then battery w/1% charged information. How can I get it to charge beyond 1% so I can proceed to troubleshoot?

I have had your exact problem with my old 3GS, now I cannot even get it to turn on, I still see that it is supposed to be charging though, but it never charges any so it seems.
I replaced the Lower Dock Connector Assembly back when it still charged while hooked to my PC, and it found it made no real difference.

At this point I am not sure if I should replace the battery and hope for the best, or just junk the phone, I cannot really sell it if I cannot reset it...
