ITunes 7.0.2 Install Trouble

Hello,
Just recently our company deployed a number of macs and I would not have recognized this as a problem otherwise, but on different platforms G5 PPC and my intel mac mini, iTunes 7.0.2 will not install. If we run the install from the "Software Update" It just hangs on "Installing iTunes". If I download the installer and manually install it hangs on "Configuring Installation". It will just sit there, no crash and no error. Also on my mac mini (but not any of the G5's) I've deleted the pre-installed iTunes, but when I ran the manual installer, it still says "Upgrade" and not "Install"... Don't know if that has anything to do with it, but it still hangs during install. We have been totaly patient with the install we let a few of the G5's sit over night with no progress.
Also we are running 10.4.4 on some G5's and 10.4.7 on others. 10.4.8 on my intel mini and a couple of G5's.
Please help
Jake

Well it may not be the same issue, on my boxes the downloaded dmg file will mount but the installer hangs... Same if I try to update using Software Update... I do not get any error messages at all...
The may be the wrong place to ask this questions, as these are user forums? Is there a more relevant location where I can ask this question?
Maybe I'll fwd this to my Campus's Apple Rep...
Thanks to anyone who can help us answer this question...
Jake

When i try to install itunes it says itunes was interrupted during install and i have nothing that is interrupting it, all programs are closed someone please help?
-It starts to install and as soon as it begins it stops

that can happen sometimes if the itunes installer is having a hard time shutting down either itunes or quicktime (or applications using quicktime) prior to the install. so let's try a "download, restart, then install strategy."
    leave your ipod unplugged.
download and save a copy of the itunes installer to your hard drive. (do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)
    iTunes 7.0.2.16 Installer
shut down running applications and restart the PC.
do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
does the install go through properly this time?

  • Itunes 11 will not install

I cannot get itunes 11.1 to install. During the installation, after it says copying files, it then says rolling back and I get an error message - "an error occurred during installation before it could be configured. Run it again." When I first tried this it told me to uninstall itunes from the computer. I did that. I don't know what else to do. I need to backup my iphone and have no way of doing this. I am running Win7 64bit. Please help.

    Many thanks.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Error message saying itunes wasn't properly installed

I installed iTunes on my computer but when I go to open it, I get an error message saying that iTunes wasn't properly installed. If I wish to import music or burn cds I have to reinstall it. I have removed iTunes and then reinstalled it, at least three times and I get the same error message. I also downloaded some music and I tried to sync it to my nano on a different computer and it's won't let me.

  • ITune 9.2 not installing

I upgraded my iphone 3gs to OS4 and had to upgrade my itunes to 9.2 - it wont do it as it says it cant create a temporary file. I have tried to delete the existing itunes and reinstall - but cant delete the old one - same reasons. Any help?

    Hi
On a similar note, I had to do the same but now I can't even access iTunes. It won;t open and keeps telling me it needs Quicktime - which I've installed again and now it's telling me the library is from an old version of iTunes and still won't open. I dread iTunes updates - they always mean trouble for me...

I updated from itunes 10.7 to itunes 11 and I installed it but when I opened up itunes only little icons would show, it woulndt display any words or letters.
so then i tried uninstalling and installing back the old itunes and it wouldnt open at all. i put back the new itunes n it opens but still wont show any words?

That's consistent with trouble with the Segoe UI fonts on your system.

  • ITunes appears "disabled" after installing iLife

I've tried to find an answer to my problem by reading the other discussion questions, but I haven't seen anything quite like it....
Background: I had trouble installing iLife 04. (Yes, I know it's an old version, but I had put it off because everytime I try to install something new it gets screwed up!) It kept telling me that something was "in use" and couldn't be installed. I was advised to open activity monitor / highlight "iTunes Helper" under "Process name" and click "Quit process". Well, it worked, but my iTunes icon in the dock ended up with a question mark on it, and I couldn't open it. In playing around with the icon it "poofed" out of sight. I can find "iTunes" and my libraries in "Users" on the hard drive, but I can't open iTunes. Some of the items in the libraries appear with music icons in front of them (the iTune icon) and some have a document icon in front of them. Trying to open things gives me an "unexpected error code 10660". I realized after I installed iLife 04 that I was probably installing a LOWER version of iTunes (I already had upgraded to 6. something) so I ran my software updates and there were updates for iDVD, iMovie, and iPhoto (as I expected there would be) but none for iTunes. I went online and downloaded the latest iTunes thinking that that might solve the problem, but when I tried to install that, it kept telling me that I couldn't because I already had a higher version installed. It kept showing iTunes as "disabled". I'm afraid to try anything else for fear that I may screw it up even more!

Remove the 'iTunesX.pkg' file from Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts.
This file tells the Installer that iTunes 6 already is installed.
Removing it should fix the installation problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • A few weeks ago I had to reinstall itunes on my PC because the latest itunes update did not install properly.  Ever since doing that something called Mobile Me keeps popping up whenever I open email (outlook) and slowing it down. How do I remove MobileMe

A few weeks ago an itunes upgrade did not install properly on my PC so I had to uninstall itunes and everything associated with it.  I was able to reinstall itunes and it works fine including syncing with my ipod.  However, now whenever I open my email (outlook) a box pops up stating MobileMe Services has stooped working. This happens a couple of times after I click to close the program.  This a nusance and really slows down getting to my email.  From what I've found MobileMe was something that used to be used by itunes to sync mobile devices but is no longer used by itunes.  I can't find a way to remove this MobileMe from my PC.  I've tried going into Contol Panel then Programs and Features to uninstall it but there is no button there to uninstall it.  Any suggestions on how this can be removed?

Do you have a backup that you can restore from? Your old hard drive seems to be the problem.

When i try to de authorize the G4 and sign in with her new apple ID it says bad password, how can i release the G4 from my cluster of authorized apples and make her the owner so she can download music and more importantly sync her music with her phone, she only has 3 songs on her iphone, and loaded all her CD's into the g4 but cant sync, im no dummy and this shouldnt be hard, but its driving me crazy!!!!!!
thx u so much for your time heeeellppppp.

Perhaps, as we have the same music tastes, for now i should just authorize her phone to my power book just to sync music, not pics, contacts etc? I'd hate to overright her contacts etc lol????

  • I have been using itunes on my windows based pc for years but since installing the latest itunes update I have been getting the error message A required itunes component is not installed. Please reinstall itunes. (-42404)

I have been using itunes on my windows 64 bit laptop for years but since downloading the latest itunes 10.7 update whenever I opened itunes the error message 'A required itunes component is not installed. Please reinstall itunes (-42404)'
Itunes would still load and play music in my library and I could still sync my ipod but when loading a CD itunes would not recognise the album/tracks and I would need to type them manualing after uploading.
I have just bought the new iphone5 and went to sync the phone with itunes. itunes recognises the iphone when plugged in via the usb port or when wi fi is turned on but itunes will not allow the phone to sync.
I spent over an hour the other morning speaking to apple customer support and have ensured I have administer right and that UAC is turned off.
I was taken through msconfigure and adjusted the startup tab but still no joy.
In the end I was e-mailed instructions on how to uninstall and then reinstall itunes and component parts.
Now that I've uninstalled itunes when I try reinstalling I get the following messages during the download.
    The 1st message is;
'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application  Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
    When I click ok the next message that appears sometime later during the install is;
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) Failed to start Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
The options I have are to abort, retry or ignore. If I retry the same message comes back and if I  abort or ignore the download continues and I then get the following message:
'Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run itunes Helper. Please uninstall itunes, then reinstall itunes again. Error 2'
After attempting to reinstall itunes only some components were installed however itunes would not open.
It would appear many people have experienced problems with this latest download!

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?
