ITunes 7.0.2 works finally!

I've done my share of moaning, complaining and bad mouthing the latest iTunes. I'm still disappointed at the time and effort it took to install. It should not take an advanced or intermediate user to install this program.
These are the programs I used to assist in a clean uninstall of iTunes and QuickTime-
ccleaner
Registry Mechanic
I followed suggestions from an earlier post. I decided to give iTunes another chance to succeed despite past failures.
Here are my steps I took.
1. Uninstall Quicktime and system32 files
2. Moved iTunes library files to My Documents Music folder.
3. Uninstalled iTunes
4. Reboot
5. Performed a file search of C: for "quicktime". I deleted all folders referencing QT. Most were located in the Documents and Settings under application data. There were Apple folders under all users and an Apple folder under each user local settings. Those were all deleted.
6. Deleted iTunes and QT folders under "Program Files".
7. I did a final file and folder search of the C: for "Apple", "iTunes" and "Quicktime". None were left to delete.
8. I rebooted again.
9. I ran ccleaner.
10. I ran Registry Mechanic
11. Rebooted again.
12. I downloaded the stand alone Quicktime installer.
13. Disabled firewall, anti-virus and spyware protection.
14. Installed latest stand alone QuickTime
15. Rebooted, ran QT and had no errors!
16. Installed iTunes 7.0.2
17. Moved my music files back over to the iTunes folder in "My Music".
18. I added the music files to my iTunes library.
19. I configured my preferences and logged into the iTunes music store.
20. Rebooted.
So far everything seems to be working without issues. My CPU usage is running normal and no errors have popped up. I played some music and have had not problems. The real test will be to install the iPod software and attempt to sync. I don't sync my iPod with this laptop, so I'm not too worried about it. I'll be doing the same procedure with my desktop next.
I'm happy that it has worked so far. It appears that you really need to fully uninstall iTunes and QT, erradicate all files/folders in reference and install the stand alone QT first. I really recommend using ccleaner and a registry cleaner to help clean up the uninstallation.
Any doubters, give it a shot. I just wanted to post a success story, even if it meant eating earlier words I posted.

There are sometimes quicktime files left in the System32 folder after uninstalling QT. Those need to be deleted before installing the latest QT for best results.
I was successful once again at installing iTunes 7.0.2 on my desktop. I sync my iPod with my desktop PC. iTunes recognized my iPod without any problems, synchronized my music and contacts perfectly. I was a little nervous about it working. I followed the same steps I outlined above and it worked great.
My trust in Apple has been regained a little. Confidence is weak about easy to install software. They need to fix the glitches there. Novice users will be turned away if they can't resolve these issues. I'll probably buy another iPod due to this success.

  • HT204406 iTunes Match is not working on my iPhone 4S after installing iOS 6.  I finally see a list of artists, but the songs are all empty and will not play, and no play lists are present.

iTunes Match is not working after the iOS 6 install.  All music that was previously downloaded is gone.  When the "Music App" is opened, I see a picture of a cloud, and a progress bar that goes nowhere.  Then it goes away.  No playlists are present.  It shows artists, and albums, but all songs are empty. Nothing plays.
Is there a fix for this, or are the Apple Servers simply totally overwhelmed, and this is a matter of being annoyed and patient until it finally connects.
    Thanks!

    Same issue for me.
Some further peculiar things I noticed:
Directly after updating to iOS 6 I had to switch on iTunes Match again (iPhone settings). Then I realized that my music was gone (as described above).
Under settings -> usage one could see that the memory space was still occupied by the huge music library (i.e. there where only 9 of 64 GB free). This changed after several hours. Now there are only 9 GB used, the rest is free. So the library is really gone.
Since then my iPhone continuously downloads some unknown data from the internet (even if all apps are closed and I deselect the use of mobile networks at the several menus in the settings). All apps are closed. The iPhone gets hot and downloads something. It downloaded nearly 400 MB in the last 48 hours via mobile networks. (I got a flatrate, so I don't really care about the data.)
Does anyone know what this means? Thanks for any help!

  • ITunes RADIO is not working.  "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again." Try as I may, as many as ten attempts, trying to connect after restart, after shutdown, nothing works. Just so -  iTu

    iTunes RADIO is not working.
“iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again.” Try as I may, as many as ten attempts, trying to connect after restart, after shutdown, nothing works. Just so …
iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio.  People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.
Solve this problem of yours ASAP for us, your numerous disgruntled, dissatisfied customers of iTunes. You can do better, should, and really –in all fairness- must.

NOTE:  no password for iTunes exists in my Keychain. Is this a problem?
Apple ACCOUNT ID, and iTunes ID password, works but not to access iTunes with my healthy internet connection.
Apple store id It works via direct internet connetion but not through iTunes.  Very strange.

  • TS1277 after installing itunes, my computer won't recognize my cdrom/burner any longer.  Worked  ok before and I have uninstalled itunes and it works again and when I reinstall itunes it won't work again.  I have also went into registry files and deleted

After installing itunes, my desktop computer doesn't recognize my internal cd rom/burner.  I removed itunes and it works ok and when I reinstall itunes it won't work again.  I went into the windows registry files and deleted the lower filter which is one correction for this and it worked ok until the next itunes upgrade and now it won't work again.  If anyone knows what to do please let me know.  My device manager shows a code "10"

My device manager shows a code "10"
That suggests an AFS.sys issue. But we'd better doublecheck.
Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". (If you're running iTunes 11.0.x you'll need to bring up your menu bar first to see the Help menu.) Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here. (Use your Ctrl-V keyboard shortcut to paste.)

My iTunes password does not work on my iPhone, but it does on my MacBook. Why? This is really annoying. How can I solve my problem? I don't even know how to contact Apple.

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • How can I view my app purchases when it keeps sending me to iTunes which does not work on my iPad and yet shows activity?

I Just received a receipt from the App Store. It was for opening one section of a game when I had already bought the full game. I went to the bottom to check on my purchases. It took me to the App Store for view history. I entered my Apple ID and then it switched me to ITune which doesn't work on my iPad! And yet it showed activity in ITunes. A few months ago I had a purchase show up that I didn't make. I contacted the developers because I love their new products so much and wanted to see if it might be a bug in their system because the confusion was within their games only. I would REALLY like to view my APP STORE history but it only lets me get to the part where you can open the apps that are showing. Is their a way to view my full APP history, with dates, money spent etc? I would love to know how to get there. Thank you, Diane Maya

Pay attention to the numerous posts on this tonight.....try again tomorrow.

  • ITunes match does not work on my iPhone 4S, but is working across all of my other Macs and iOS devices.  All other iCloud services are working fine on the 4S - any suggestions?

iTunes match is not working on my iPhone 4S; it works awesome across all of my Macs and other iOS devices (iPad 2, iPod Touch 4g x 2, and my wife's iPhone 4).  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

It is not possible to "toggle back and forth" at will. If you associate a device with an Apple ID and you have iTunes Match enabled you must wait 90 days before you can associate it with another Apple ID. See this Apple KB article for more information: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

My iPad will not update to 5 at all. I don't even have the option of software update in settings. I've tried to update over iTunes and it doest work there either.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • HT204406 Since updating to ios6 on my iPhone 4S iTunes Match has not worked. The app stays open for about five seconds before crashing. With ios5 it was great and worth paying for. Now it is utterly useless. Apple, please listen and fix this problem.

Ever since I updated to ios 6 on my iPhone 4S, iTunes Match has not worked.
I have been through the process of deleting my iTunes control files, and that worked temporarily, but now I cannot listen to music through the service.
It shows my artists and albums, then takes forever to access the songs (often more than 10 minutes - and yes, that's using WiFi), more often than not crashing before it gets to that point, then repeatedly crashing when I try to open the Music App, so I can't even access things I've downloaded.
Has anyone else found a solution?
Apple, please listen up - I am paying you for the iTunes Match service that is utterly useless. Fix it please.

After some troubleshooting, I decided to order a new battery.  I replaced the battery and was then able to get it to restore, however--after I restore it and it comes time to restart the phone, it gets stuck and doesn't turn on.
Sorry, your repair ruined the iPhone.
She does not have apple care and even though she loved this device, she isn't going to buy another iPhone because of all the problems shes had with this one (it's just over a year old).
After you ruined the iPhone with DIY, Apple won't touch it anymore. You should have asked before all these had happened.
I'm an android user myself and I love rooting/flashing new ROMS, so if jailbreaking her phone or doing some kind of super-restore with 3rd party programs might help, I'm all for it-
Yeah, all Android user can think of is Jailbreaking, read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743

  • I just updated to iOS 7 on my iphone 4 and now my iTunes Store doesn't work. The App Store works fine, but the iTunes comes up blank whenever I touch the icons. It doesn't even seem like it loads at all. Can anyone help?

I just recently updated the software on my ihpone 4 to the iOS 7 and now my iTunes Store does not work. All of my other apps work perfectly fine except iTunes.  Whenever I open the app, the icons for music and movies and tv shows come up, but when I touch them, nothing happens. The screen is just blank. And I already tried updating again, updating iTunes on my computer, turning my iphone off and on, and resetting my ihpone, and nothing works. Can anyone help?

I searched this site for ios 7 and itunes store and found numerous others with the same problem, and several suggested solutions. One said that they had blocked all cookies and that was apparently the problem. I had done the same thing - blocked all cookies. So I set cookies back to "third parties and advertisers" and that solved the problem. Now the itunes store is working.

No, it does not.  It transfers purchases from the iDevice to the computer.  The computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with.

Try starting Aperture with the command and option keys held down.  You'll get 3 options.
Try each, starting at the top, in order, checking after each to see if it fixes the issue.

Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
