  • ITunes 7 and new iPod not playing video

    OK here's my other problem:
I have a new iPod, and have downloaded iTunes 7 and Tiger.
I've downloaded a video from iTunes (Michael Jackson's Thriler).
But when I double click on it in 'purchased', it won't play. Nothing happens, no icon, nothing.
Then when I restarted I got a message after iPod syncing that said 'Thriller' not transferred because iPod cannot play it'.
Any idea why?! I thought that's what I paid for...!

I am having a similar problem.  I downloaded a song from iTunes a few minutes ago, but when I went to listen it, only part of the song plays.  The song is abut 2:50 in length, but skips to another song in the playlist at about 1:30.  It seems to pick the song it skips to rather randomly, fwiw!
Can I try downloading the song again, or will iTunes charge me for it a second time?

  • Why doesn't itunes see that my ipod is a video ipod?

    Hi,
I am getting really annoyed with this. I have always used a photo ipod 30GB, but I now have a video one. However when I try to add videos to the ipod itunes tells me that not all songs were added to the ipod because they cannot be played on this ipod.
Also, when I go to preferences the video area is greyed out.
    What can I do?
I have reinstalled the software, and itunes itself. I have restored the ipod, updated it to 1.1.1, and I have looked through all the online tutorials, but I still can't do it.
My friends ipod also has the same problem on my PC.
    WHY?
PLEASE, PLEASE HELP - I'm going out of my mind!

    Hi mattweb,
Windows is probably confusing your iPod with a USB network device. In this case, definetely try assigning your iPod a different drive letter.
If "My Computer" recognizes your iPod, then try performing the steps below:
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Here's what it should look like:
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).
For more details, see this article:

    I hope this helps you,

  • Ipod 30 gig video locked on lang. screen

I have a 30 gig vid. that won't do nothing. It's locked on the language screen and nothing works, I've tried everything. Can anybody help. The R's Didn't work

You may STILL need to reset it and are either not using the HOLD switch in the reset routine or not holding the buttons long enough (it can take longer than you would think when sitting there holding them).
Slide the hold switch from OFF to ON back to OFF then immediately hold down BOTH the center and Menu buttons for a good 15 seconds minimum or until it restarts with the Apple logo.
Resetting isn't always effective once and you may need to retry it several times to get it to work.
If you reset and you still have an issue, you may want to next attempt a Restore of the iPod.

  • Ipod 30 gig video loses charge.

Just got a brand new 30 gig 5.5gen ipod. Charged it fully and turned it off and pressed the hold button to lock it. Left it over night, and when I looked at it in the morning, the battery was totally drained. I tried again the next day charging it fully, then turning it off and locking it again. Same problem. Battery was totally depeleted. I didn't even use it once. This can't be right? Should I return it?

Yes, the problem with your iPod is a bad battery. You will need to take it back or send it to apple 4 repair.

  • Ipod 60 gig video

every time I plug in my ipod I get a blue screen that says badpoolheader. Any ideas? I am running windows XP.
    TIA,
    Mike

If all that is working correctly, try connecting the iPod and see if you get this blue sreen. Try looking to see if iPod is listed in "My COmputer" if you can.
If you can't disconnect it and try setting the iPod to "Manual Disk mode" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651 then connecting it to the PC and see if you still get the blue screen of death

  • New Ipod  60 gig Video Causing PC to run extremely slow when connected....

Whenever i plug my ipod chord into the usb slot the computer runs terribly until i pull the chord out...has anyone ever heard of this problem before? **i am using usb 1.0 right now and am unable to put 2.0 on** (could that be the problem??)
When i try to "update my ipod" with the software it came with it freezes until i again pull the plug out of the bottom of the device....should i contact apple? can anyone help me out?
Thank you, and merry christmas to everyone

Unless you are running Windows XP on a very old mother board, you should have USB 2.0?

  • IPod (60 gig video)  w/Backlight always on

Will having the backlight always on damage or reduce the life of my iPod? I use it at work in a cradle with AC power 10 hours a day, and would prefer to have the backlight always on ....
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

When it is in the dock it does not use the battery. My wife leaves her back light on in her dock 24 hours a day and has had it like that for almost a year. You should not have a problem. I would recommend not leaving it on when you take it out for portable use. That will drain the battery fairly quickly.

  • I have an iPod touch 32gb 3rd gen (model A1318) and am unable to update it to iOS5.  When I try, I have to update iTunes first, and when I do that, it will no longer recognize my iPod (so I can't update the iOS).  Help?

If it matters, I'm using a PC that's still running Windows XP, but this isn't my first rodeo, and I know both how to use the software and what applications are and aren't compatible with my computer.
I searched the web for answers, most of which amounted to a shrug and a "Meh."  I called Apple support, who took a couple days to look into it, then had a supervisor call me back.  His response, essentially, was a shrug and a "meh."  So I'm kinda stuck.  Any help you folks could give me would be much appreciated.
In addition, I've been reading a fair amount on how iOS 5 will cause a whole host of problems with the 32gb 3rd gen touch... is this true?  And has Apple resolved it, or are they essentially force-retiring this model?

    Dear Re_trace,
Don't you feel cheated and conned by this product. I am 50 years old and from what you write I can see you know a lot more about your computer than I do about mine. Additionally I live in southern Africa (in fact I live in one and work in another, neither of which appear on the drop down list when you start looking at asking Apple directly for help) and feel they shouldn't allow people to sell their products here (I bought it in a shop that sells i-Macs etc. - not off a guy on a street corner!)if they can't offer support.
I have just been going from error code to another, losing my music that took me hours and hours to install and catalogue/modify in the library etc. and now I've had enough of it.
Essentially it seems to me we have bought faulty products, and made Apple richer than Microsoft in the process.
I'm turningmy back on this bloody iPod Touch, giving it to my son to see if he has the ability and interest to get it working, and if he hasn't I'm just goinbg to have to sell it to a sucker who also wants to buy into the dream, until he wakes up to the reality of shoddy product. hours in front of a computer screen, a fortune in downloads (here I only have about 5 to 10 kb per second download speed), trawling the internet looking for people than have also suffered at the hands of an obviously fatally-flawed system.where every time Apple just recommends to install the latest version of iTunes.
I for one would rather have my money and my wasted time back............
I know I didn't help, but really I don't have any axe to grind against Apple, it's just that the hype in no way lives up to the reality. Look at all the people begging for anwers to their problems on this web-site! I know the shop in Mozambique won't give me my money back, but Apple should, and if Ford sold cars as reliable as these iPods, they'd be banned from selling them........
Or am I just too old to realie how exciting it is internettingf all over th eplace to try to fix what is actually an inferior Walkman........
Good luck solving your problem, and I hope you think that all the effort you are putting in (and which I have now given up putting in), is worth it.
    Hope you solve ht eproblems!

You cannot download the same Apps that you have on your iPhone. They are two seperate stores.
The store you have on your iPhone is the same for any iDevice (iPad, iPhone and iPod)
The store on your MacBook is only for Macs.

  • Ipod (30 gig) will not start up!

    Greetings.
I was updating my ipod, window (iTuens) appeared saying "finished updating". I noticed the screen (ipod) had the initial black screen with the white apple. It never went any further. I tried the restarting it but no luck.
I tried resetting it, with same results.
Now my ipod seems to be dead. Nothing turns it on.
I tried hooking it up to the usb, charger, and nothing detects it.
    Any advise?
    Thanks,

  • It says my ipod cant play videos!!!!!

i have a 30GB white ipod. but whenever i try to put my videos on my ipod from itunes, it says my ipod cannot play videos. i thought if the video was already in itunes, it was already converted................somebody please help!!! thanks a million

i have a 30GB white ipod. but whenever i try to put my videos on my ipod from itunes, it says my ipod cannot play videos. i thought if the video was already in itunes, it was already converted.
The ability to play a file in iTunes means that is is QT compatible -- not neccessarily iPod compatible.
If the message states that a particular file is not playable on the iPod, then the file is either in the wrong format or one or more parameters does/do not meet iPod compatiblity restrictions. For instance, a DivX MPEG4 video file with MPEG layer-3 audio would not be playable. Normally, it is a simple problem associated with video data rate limitations or failure to use a specific required profile for the format you are employing. In addition, movie content can sometimes "trick" the encoder and cause a momentary "peak" in the data rate that triggers iTunes to reject the file during sync operations.
If the message states that the iPod "generically" cannot play videos, then you do not have an iPod model with video capabilities.

  • IPod 32 gig problem with updating 2.2.1 OS

I have an iPod 32 gig. My problem is I cannot find an update to get 3.0, or even the latest one. I am curious to know if my iPod doesn't support the 3.0 or if it's too old for the update. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • ITunes compatible with any iPod?

Hi...I am fairly new at this, so i'm sorry if this is a stupid question . I recently upgraded my iTunes to the latest version but I have two iPods a 2GB Nano and a Shuffle, are these compatibles with iTunes? meaning, can I use both on the same iTunes to be able to download the same music to both?

*Can I use both on the same iTunes to be able to download the same music to both?*
Yes you can, iTunes will recognise each iPod as a separate device and each has it's own update setting. You can update each one independently from the same library and put on whichever songs you choose: How to use multiple iPods with one computer
Loading the iPod shuffle differs slightly from the Nano but they can still be used together: Adding songs to iPod shuffle - Mac
