ITunes 7.1 crashes syncing iPod

iTunes 7.1 is ok, but when I connect my iPod Photo 60GB and the sync starts, after few seconds iTunes closes.
I repaired permission, I have the latest version of QuickTime...
Thanks
Stefano

Hi Stefano!
When iTunes "closes", do you see an error message?
Any iTunes-related plug-ins installed?
Stay in touch!

Try removing and then reinstalling the Apple software using these instructions.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
The above containes a link for XP. Also. make sure you install the correct Apple software, It comes in 32 and 64 bit and you need the one that is the same as the computer OS

  • Trouble with iTunes 9.0 and syncing iPod Nano

    Hello everyone.
Just this morning after updating to iTunes 9.0, I attempted to sync my iPod.
After plugging it in, my iPod displayed the "connected, do not disconnect." message. It came up in iTunes, but did not sync right away like it used to.
I pressed the sync button, and both iTunes and my iPod displayed their usual "syncing" messages.
Then, my iPod stopped it's syncing message, and displayed "connected".
iTunes also froze while saying "Updating files on Pierce's iPod"
iTunes isn't frozen, but syncing is.
I left it like that for about 15 minutes, and it is still syncing an item that is only 3MB big.
So I thought of restoring it, so I press the restore button, and in the background, i see iTunes uploading all my files onto my iPod at great speeds, Like it should. iPod is also saying its usual "syncing" message.
I press "cancel" on the restore dialog, and then syncing stops again.
My iPod only syncs fully when the "restore" dialog is up.
This is really annoying if this is what I have to do every time to sync my iPod.
I am also not sure what section to post this under. I choose iTunes because it is way more active then iPod Nano.

    The problem resolved itself.

Why can't I load music from itunes library to synced ipod touch

" I have no idea what you're talking about my phone being hacked."
I explained:  "Your iphone must be hacked as you cannot copy from finder on a legit iphone."
"I used to be able to drag music FROM THE ITUNES LIBRARY to THE IPHONE. Now I can no longer do that"
Again, I explained: "you would check the manually manage music box of you wanted to drag and drop."
Do you have the manually manage music box checked?

  • Computer crashed. sync ipod to new itunes but threatens to erase! pls reply

    Hi,
my computer crashed and everything has been wiped.
So i download new itunes, and sync my ipod but threatens to erase all my files.
This computer runs on Windows XP and my ipod is an ipod touch.
Is there any way to get all my music & videos onto my computer or straight onto itunes?
There's just alot of music and videos that i can't just download them all again!

    Welcome to AD!
My advice is to use a 3rd-party ipod manager program to get everything off the ipod.

I have also had a similar problems with iTunes and Vista. I believe it is because iTunes 7 isn't completely compatible with Windows Vista; it only works with XP or 2000. I finally got my iPod to sync after a couple of tries and restarting the computer, but it still usually crashes. I think we'll have to wait until Apple makes a new version of iTunes that is compatible with Vista!

  • ITunes stops working when syncing iPod 4

We have recently been having problems with our iTunes, with it not opening yesterday so we had to uninstall iTunes and all Apple related programs.
I've tried syncing my iPod Touch 4th gen with iTunes on our laptop (Windows 7) but when it gets to the stage of finalising transferred items or something alike (stage 8 of 8) an error message pops up and I am forced to close iTunes.
Why is this happening?? Please help!

  • IPod not recognized by PC or iTunes - can no longer sync iPod

I had to shut down my PC due to a storm and I didn't realize that my iPod was still connected with the message "do not disconnet". Now my PC does not recognize my iPod. I've tried resetting it, uninstalling/reinstalling the driver and the iTunes application, as well as a new USB cable. Nothing works. Any thoughts? Help...please...thanks~

I have similar problems with my ipod classic (I sync my ipod with my macbook). Every so often it will give me an error saying I disconnected my ipod before unmounting it (even though I did not disconnect it or tried to unmount it). This also happend on my PC running Win 7.
This error message appears to happen randomly when the ipod is syncing with iTunes. I just bought my ipod probably about a month ago and this happend about four times so far. In fact, it just happend a few minutes ago and I am reloading all of my data on it right now. My old ipod (which was stolen a few weeks back) never had this much of a problem.
The first time this happend (and after a few days of trial and error) I reformatted my ipod in FAT32, enable disk mode, then reformat again in HFS+ using itunes and syncing all of my data (the order of operations is important).
Sometimes I just had to restore the factory settings using iTunes without reformatting. Other times I had to enable disk mode and reformat HFS+ filesystem, skipping the FAT32 format.
I had to shut down my PC due to a storm and I didn't realize that my iPod was still connected with the message "do not disconnet". Now my PC does not recognize my iPod.
I don't think this caused your problem because Windows unmounts (or ejects) all disks (including your ipod) from the computer before turning off. I am assuming you are turning off your computer using the start menu in Windows.
    POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
A possible solution is to put the ipod in disk mode (this is sort of like a safe mode for the ipod), connect it to your computer and let iTunes reformat. You will lose all of your data and settings but you can always change the settings back and resync.
The apple website has directions on how to enable disk mode then reformatting your ipod.
    link: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1363
Once you put it in disk mode, then you can let iTunes reformat and sync your data.
You might have to reformat your ipod in disk mode more than once (I usually have to do it at least twice before I can start syncing with iTunes.
    I hope this helps.

  • Itunes will not update/sync ipod shuffle (1st or 2nd gen).

Hello -- I've seen a few postings with similar issues, but no answers that work yet, so I'm hoping someone may be able to help.
Recently, I can not get itunes to sync or update either my 1st or 2nd gen shuffle. itunes sees it and diagnostics says everything is fine (although the diag program takes 5-7 mins to run). Non-shuffle ipods work fine on the same USB port. Also, the shuffles work fine on other computers.
I have deinstalled/reinstalled itunes, as well as the USB driver. I downloaded the reset utility for both shuffles and run. No difference after any of these efforts.
The problem is the same for autofill or drag/drop. itunes says not to disconnect the ipod as it's sync'ing and the little sync symbol appears next to the shuffle, but itunes just locks up ~5 mins. It returns w/o an error message, but nothing has been copied. It's the same whether I try to copy 1 or 100 songs.
Any help will be appreciated. I'll cross post in 1st gen discussion as well.
    Thank you,

None of the suggested fixes in the knowledge base article you referenced resolved this issue for me. Further, I cannot use the iPod Reset Utility to restore the iPod as it is not 64-bit OS compatible.
I have been unable to sync my iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen with iTunes since the release of 8.1.1.10. The new release 8.2.0.23 has not resolved the issue. Hopefully Apple will take notice of all the problems here on the forums and release either an iTunes or firmware patch to resolve these problems.

  • IPod 30GB Problems with iTunes 9; Will not sync iPod and freezes iTunes

Since I have updated to iTunes 9 on windows xp (and more recently iTunes 9.0.1) I have not been able to sync my 5th generation iPod 30gb.
What happens when I connect my ipod is that iTunes will instantly freeze and not allow me to do anything on it, but I am able to open other windows just not iTunes. After about 10 minutes iTunes will unfreeze briefly and claim to be syncing my iPod. Eventually after a further 10 minutes I am greeted with a message saying:
"The ipod 'HARRY'S iPOD" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (-50)."
    http://tinypic.com/r/2wchbgy/4
Also when I try to access my iPod through the window's explorer, when I try to enter any files I get the message "Please insert a disc into drive F:" followed by "F:\ Photos is not accesible. The parameter is incorrect"
I have no problems synicng my iPod Nano 4th Generation 16gb.
I've tried to revert to iTunes 8 after uninstalling iTunes 9 but when I do it wont let me open it saying it cannot read the file "Itunes Library.lib"
Does anyone have a clue where the problem is? And better still how to fix it?
    Thanks

Do NOT Threadjack. Start your own topic please. Help you get in your topic may help others when searching for like topics (your post could be lost in a unrelated topic).
If you don't know how to post a new thread...
In order to see the post link, you need to drill down to the subtopic level of a discussion area. If you see a list of subtopics, you are not down far enough.
For example, from the main discussion menu, you can choose Classic iPod and you will see the following...
Note that in the Classic discussion there are three sub-topics you can choose and NO post link yet. Now pick any sub-topic, for example, pick "Using iPod Classic" and you will get the following...

  • Missing Playlist in iTunes when trying to sync iPod nano

I have a playlist called new tunes, it's my most recent songs added to iTunes. For some reason when I plug in my iPod nano I don't have this playlist available to sync to my iPod, it's not in the list of playlists available to sync to the iPod nano. I see all the other playlists available but not this one.
So What I tried next is to make a second playlist that mirrors the first and this playlist doesn't show up in the iPod selection either. What gives? I would love to have this playlist available for my iPod but I don't know how to get it on there

are you getting any sort of blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
