Itunes 7.1 deletes album artwork

I've upgraded to itunes 7.1 but it is having a problem keeping the album artwork saved. I've pasted artwork into itunes for all my albums and up until yesterday everything was fine, then I added another couple of albums and associated artwork but then found that artwork for a few other albums had been removed by itunes. I've tried to copy it all back into itunes but then other artwork disappeared. It's almost like ITunes wil not except any more artwork. All artwork is copied from google images. Has anybody had this problem?

Yes, I have the exact same problem. I copy and paste album artwork from a website and a week later it's disappeared from itunes. I have over 17,000 songs and it's taken me an age to get the artwork in now only for it to disappear on me. Very frustrating. Hopefully someone reading this may be able to help.

  • How to delete album artwork from itunes?

i have tried the clear downloaded artwork, but this didn't work. is there any other way that i can delete album artwork from itunes? i am assuming the artwork is embedded in the files, since the clear downloaded artwork didn't work.

I think this might have been answered before, but this is what I know.
One way I'm aware of to clear artwork is to do a properties of any album you want to clear the artwork from, go to artwork, select the artwork and delete it.
Iirc, iTunes holds the artwork in it's database and not physically with the audio file. I normally use "Mp3tag" to add my artwork to albums so the artwork is embedded in the audio files, I tend to steer clear of adding artwork in iTunes itself. Just be weary when adding images to the audio files themselves: The audio files will increase in size of the image itself, I think that's why iTunes doesn't physically add it to the files.

  • ITunes 8: When downloading album artwork for making thumbnails, it quits?

I just installed iTunes 8, and I tried opening it. It then starts to download the album artwork thumbnails, then all of a sudden a message shows saying,
"iTunes has stopped working, Windows is trying to blablabla.."
Then it forces you to closes the program. I tried pressing cancel before the message pops-up, but when I try to scroll down, it forces me to quit. Any fixes?

If iTunes 8.0 is crashing or freezing while creating artwork thumbnails, you may have a file containing corrupt artwork in your library. The steps to identify that file are somewhat complex and will involve moving and deleting some files, so only attempt them if you are pretty comfortable with performing those tasks.
When you first open iTunes 8, iTunes scans through your album artwork to build a thumbnail cache. You can disable this scan by opening iTunes in Safe Mode.
To open iTunes in Safe Mode:
Mac: Hold down the Command and Option keys while opening iTunes
Windows: Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys while opening iTunes
If you open iTunes in Safe Mode, iTunes will only cache artwork from the album covers that are visible in the iTunes window. So you can view your library in grid view, and scroll down one row at a time. You will see iTunes generating the thumbnails for each of your albums as you scroll down. This may allow you to see which album is being processed by iTunes when the application crashes or hangs. Once you have an idea which files are causing the issue, locate the folder containing the files themselves in Finder or Windows Explorer, create a zip archive of the album, and delete the files themselves:
To create a Zip archive of the album
Mac: Right-click the folder in Finder that contains the album tracks and choose Compress <folder name>
Windows: Right-click the folder in Windows Explorer that contains the album tracks and choose Send to Compressed Zipped folder
After you have created a zip archive backup of the affected files, and deleted the originals, open iTunes normally (not in safe mode). Scroll back down to where you were when the crash occurred. If you got the right files, iTunes should just skip over that album and keep rendering thumbnails without crashing or hanging. If iTunes hangs or crashes right after the album that you thought was causing the issue, it may have actually been that next album, so repeat the zip and delete steps until you have found the problematic album.
If you identify the album that contains the file that causes the problem, we would be interested in getting a copy of the files to try to analyze the issue further. Please email me <[email protected]> and I will tell you how to send in the affected files for analysis.

  • Why can't iTunes find all the album artwork?

Why can't iTunes find all the album artwork?

That would fall under Browsing History. Firefox > History -> Show All History
Firefox doesn't use Temporary Internet Files for anything except Windows Media files.
Type '''about:cache''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />

  • Deleting album artwork from Itunes 6 after upgrading to Itunes 7

I recently upgraded to Itunes 7, and I want to delete some of my album artwork that I added in Itunes 6. I backed up my entire library and imported it into Itunes 7 after I installed it. Some of my album artwork consists or low-res clipart, and I want to update my entire library with new album artwork. When I choose "get album artwork", Itunes doesn't update my music with the new artwork. I also tried the "get info" submenu, and there isn't any artwork listed in the window, though it shows the artwork in the album srcolling window. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This info is included in the song tag, you have to edit the individual song tag to change the artwork. To do this, right click on the song with bad artwork, then choose the first option "get info". A box will open, click on the artwork tab (you may have several pieces or artwork here--delete the ones you don't like. It's possible the good art you want will be one of the choices. Make sure this appears first in the list and then you'll see it in iTunes. If you need to add the artwork, click the add button and browse/find the artwork you want to add.
    Hope this helps!

  • Is there a way to delete album artwork in iTunes to save space?

I've only 120 gigs in my MacAir and album art for iTunes takes up too much space. I've deleted the artwork but it just comes up again when I call up iTunes. Thanks for any suggestions.

Don't know what version of OS you're using, but in Mavericks Finder/Music/Artwork/Cache will show you that each cover uses the 960 or so kilobytes I refer to. If you delete the Cache and don't delete the artwork as above, iTunes just puts it all back when you call it up again. Right now, after following the above instructions, I still have a new Cache, except it's empty. As for each picture/song, I had to delete each song's picture, as instructed above, and I've downloaded individual songs that have come with artwork, so it's hardly a matter of 30 or 40 kbs.

  • How do I delete album artwork that came w/ a brand new ipod =no music on it

I recently purchased a new ipod Classic (80 gig) at a nationwide electronics store. The first time I turned it on it had an album cover of Manu Chao on the Main Menu. There is no music on the ipod yet the album cover is there. The store's corporate office says that they sell returned ipods as new ones. I am guessing that since there is no music on the ipod there is no way to delete this album cover through iTunes. It appears to be deeply embedded in another file or ID3 Tag ... I don't understand much at all about where to start. If anyone has encountered this problem or if anyone knows how to find where the image is stored (which file) and remove it, please let me know. You all are great! Thanks!

Hi, rebuilding your iPod's artwork cache should sort this out...
    *Rebuilding Artwork Cache*
To rebuild the artwork cache, connect your iPod to iTunes. Locate the iPod in the Sources pane on the left-hand side, then select the Music tab. Remove the tick from *Display album artwork on your iPod*, sync the iPod, reselect the option & sync again.
You are probably best making a samll single album playlist to do a trial sync with. That way it should be easy to tell if the unwanted artwork has been removed. If that still doesn't work then do a full restore.

  • Re: Deleting Album Artwork

I have some albums that I can not get album artwork for. All the Beatles albums, for example. So, I thought I would drag album images off of Amazon into iTunes. Of course, I did not realize that I was only adding the image to one song at a time. The first image was too small, the second one only went to the second song.
How do I delete these images?
And how do I add artwork so that it will cover all songs in a given lbum?

Right click (control+click if using a one button mouse) on the file you want to remove the artwork from, choose Get Info then the Artwork tab, click on the image and press the delete button then OK.
To add artwork to multiple items at once without having to do them one at a time (e.g. all the songs in an album) highlight your selection (click on the first track in your list, hold down the shift key and click on the last). Right click anywhere in the selection and choose Get Info, when you are asked if you want to edit multiple items say yes. Drag your artwork to the small artwork box down on the right and choose OK

  • Why does iTunes spend ages processing album artwork for no apparent reason?

I have a 65,000+ files on assorted drives. I tag in another ap, so I don't use iTunes to get artwork. However, everytime I add files to my playlist it insists on "processing album artwork" for every file, even if there isn't any, or if the files are being re-added after being moved to a different drive. What is iTunes up to, & is there any way of disabling it?
On a related note, it would be really useful if iTunes could be set to search certain folders for altered, moved or deleted files & update the library automatically. Any chance this could be introduced in a future version?

No, it isn't! Maybe I should check it, then restart iTunes, uncheck it again & restart iTunes again. Might be worth a try.

  • Films - Movies not Working or corrupted in iTunes after changing the  album artwork

After trying to change the album artwork for some movies I own, I realized that such movie unplayable after such change and I cannot even revert what I have done. More, it seems like if you press on the "get info" section of the movie, you will notice that the artwork tab is gone and therefore, it’s like the movie is corrupted after changing the artwork. Any ideas? Has anyone encountered this before?

Just checked and I have the updated itunes 8.0.1 with the poster frame problem.
I finally found a fix for the movie album artwork problem.
After realizing several movies had the same poster frame as one of the movies. I deleted the movie with the common poster frame which had been copied to other movies. The other poster frames changed on the other movies because they no longer had a reference to the file from which the poster frame was copied. So I copied the deleted movie back into itunes and then got to thinking that perhaps there is something else in common with the movies which displayed the same poster frame. I found that I had set the album field to the same title. So I changed the album field file by file, to something else. Then I set the poster frame after playing a few seconds of the video at a point where I wanted the frame set to the current frame. I got a film icon on the movie icon for a few seconds while it changed it. Sometimes I had to repeat selecting the different poster frames for each movie because it didn't take the first time... the second time I selected a different poster frame it was then set to the first poster frame that I selected. So now the movies which all had the same album "Aviation" now are all changed to "Flight Training" Of course, now the poster frames for those movies are all the same poster frame but at least they are correct for the type of movie.
So if the album name is set to the same thing on several different movies they will all have the same poster frame.

  • Since the update, I cannot delete album artwork!

How do I delete album art off of my Itunes ablums. It's for a Sony Vaio using windows 7.

The new iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
    Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
    Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the centre of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
    Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.
    Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)
