ITunes 7.1 Importing Problems
Just installed iTunes 7.1 on Vista, and upgraded my G4 mini to 7.1 as well. I'm now having problems importing existing MP3s into iTunes. I have the "Copy files to iTunes music folder" option checked in preferences, but if I try to drag/drop a folder with MP3s into my library, iTunes will import/copy a few files and then ignore the remainder.
For example, I have a folder with 20 songs ripped from CD. I drag/drop this folder into the iTunes library. iTunes starts to import the songs, and copies 4 or 5 files, and then the import stops. It doesn't always happen on the same song, so I don't think it's a corrupt file. The same behavior occurs both in Vista 7.1 and on the Mac mini 7.1 as well. I'm at a loss as to why it will only import some of the files, and why it decides not to import at different files each time I try.
Anyone else know/experience this?

I've answered my own question after trying a few things. Here's what solved my problem.
I moved my iTunes library out of the My Music folder, which was the default folder for Windows Media Player rips, and was also included in WMP's monitored folders. There is some sort of conflict with Windows Media Player's monitor folders function when it comes to adding songs to the iTunes library and copying them to the iTunes music folder. It's like WMP intercepts the file so iTunes gets confused and stops.
As soon as I moved my iTunes library to a place where it wasn't monitored by WMP all was good again. I can now add folders to my library with copy files to iTunes music folder checked, and all works well.
From what I've seen, there are others on this board with this problem (in other threads). I hope my fix works for you!

on windows 8 and itunes I have importing problems the DVD is only reading the music cd from 1.5x to 4.0x for 95% of the time, it does hit speeds of 30x for the other 5% of the time. Is it a driver issue with the DVD or is it a windows 8 issue?
No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

So I can no longer use the 'join CD tracks' function of iTunes to import mix CD's as one mp3 file.
when you hit the dropdown then drag all the files to your library, in says your importing hundreds of tracks (Which is wrong) then does nothing.
I've tried in on 2 macs and one PC, all of which are on the latest itunes (Unfortunately.)
Anyone else having this problem?
Anyone know any ways round it?
I can import CD's without track joined no problem.

HT1549 itunes home sharing import problem
I am not seeing the "items not in my Library" or the import button, in itunes home sharing, but I see all the files on the other computer, and I can play them. I don't understand why it is not there.
Thanksi'm having the same problem with home sharing of songs from my aluminum macbook, running itunes v9.2.1(4) in snow leopard v10.6.4, to my windows pc, running itunes v9.2.1.5 in windows xp professional sp3.
in my case the sharing has worked perfectly before and works fine with songs from the pc to the mac and songs from the mac that are already in the pc's library. so only songs not in the pc's library seem to be affected.
the error message tells me to check my internet connection, which also seems to working fine. -

While importing a CD i get an error message halfway through and the burning stops. The windows message is: "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close".
I have tried to repair:
1. remove Quicktime and repair itunes.
2. updated windows, itunes, quicktime, updater.
3. updated my dvd/cd driver.
4. deleted all forms of itunes and quicktime and reinstalled.
5. deselcted "use error correction" under preferences, advanced, importing.
It is not the burner as Windows Media imports the cd just fine.
Please help. It drives me crazy. ty.hi Jonathan!
This is only a temp solution...
there are a couple of ways of making this change semi-permanent (if the fix works for you). you would need to download and install a utility that starts up itunes with a single processor affinity set.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

Help! I just moved my itunes library from a Win 7 computer to a new Win 8.1 computer following the instructions on the itunes website. Everything is good except I'm getting an error message on the Win 8 computer if I try to play a CD or get an audio file off of the internet. I get an error message that says "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly. I don't know where to look for or fix the audio configuration on the win 8 computer. As far as I can tell the iTunes configuration looks the same as on the other computers in the house. At this point I don't dare plug my ipod touch into the Win 8 computer for fear it will get messed up.
I have the same problem and I know that it is due to my PCI Audio driver not being compatible with WIndows 8.1.
iTunes isn't the only program that can't direct sound to the built-in speakers anymore. The obvious solution would be to update the drivers, but unfortunately Dell does not provide an updated driver for my model, so I am stuck with that.
However, saying that, only my laptop speakers are affected by this. I can use sound fine on applications where I can choose the output device and direct sound to the head phones, but for some reason iTunes does not let you choose the audio device manually.

ITunes has encountered a problem...
Im having problems with my itunes, all of a sudden one day an error showed up saying
“iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.” And then It asked me if I wanted to send error report or don’t send. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I wasn’t sure what to do and thought that it was important to send the error soo I did and still my itunes wouldn’t work soo I uninstalled my itunes and reinstalled like a million times and still noo luck. And I tried my quick times and it days error. When I connected my ipod all my music disappeared. Now I don’t have any music and my itunes doesn’t work. Ive tried itunes on other users on my computer and the same error shows up. I NEED HELP!!!!!!Quicktime failed to initalize. Error #-2095
Please make sure QuickTime is properly installed on this computer.
hmmm. that one isn't very specific. sometimes the error message will give us clues as to the nature of the hassle with the QuickTime, but that one didn't in this case.
so let's try a "diagnostic" standalone QT 7.1 install. at the very least, the error message we get from the QT install will give us some more info about what the underlying problem is.
from the following link, download and save a fresh copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

Everytime I connect my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to my laptop, running Win 7 (64 bit) I get the message "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes" I have reinstalled iTunes several times and it has not fixed the issue. I am running ver 10.2.2.12 of iTunes. I HAVE NOT installed any other burning software to my laptop either. I haven't tried uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing it yet. Would that perhaps fix the problem? I've read that many users have had issues with the new version of the software and I was wondering if that might be causing my issue. I'd like to point out that iTunes seems to work after getting rid of the message, but I haven't tried to burn any CDs or put music from a CD to my laptop. Any ideas on how to get rid of the annoying message?
I also am having trouble hooking up with our other computers using Homegroup. I noticed quite a lot of people are having the same issue and hopefully they come up with a fix for that soon.

If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

Itunes crashes when importing Music File or Folder ever since i updated it yesterday
You can try downloading 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and unpack the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file into its components then try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). You may get a more useful error message as to which component has problems.

ITunes no longer imports or plays CD's
I'm running iTunes 8 on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and I've run into a problem where if I try to import a CD, iTunes starts to import the first track, then just proceeds to skip through every track until it reaches the end with nothing imported. As it tries to import, you can see the little animated importing animation to the left of the song, but it only lasts a second or so then moves to the other tracks and does the same until the end.
I get this same issue when trying to play a CD, with iTunes skipping through all the tracks trying to play something. I've done the iTunes diagnostics for the CD drive, and all tests have passed. CDs play fine in Windows Media Player BTW.

I bought vista home premium and was disappointed to discover it does not come with a x64 bit disk. I used vista 32 bit software and had absolutely no problems with iTunes. After a fresh install of vista for 64 bit iTunes no longer works properly. I can still play anything I transferred from my backup HD but no importing is possible.
I have tried the error correction with no success. I tried installing and running 32 bit iTunes and it gives me an error saying something to the effect of "iTunes is improperly installed. You may need to reinstall iTunes to fix this problem."
I have a hard time believing that this is due to a x64 bit problem as Apple has used this technology longer than most. Is this an issue with the latest iTunes? I am going to fuss with it some more but I'm very frustrated that I can bearly use the new iPod I bought. Any suggestions from Apple users as well as Dark Side (*vista or windows in general :)*) users would be awesome. -
