ITunes 7.1 killed my movies

My ipod played all my movies fine. then I upgraded. Now none of them will play in iTunes and they have been wiped off my ipod. It now says this ipod cant play these movies. Well it could before 7.1?
whay gives? is there an easy solution?

Did you mean to say 7.02? That is the most recent iTunes update. My movies work fine including the ones I bought and the ones I made myself. They worked fine with 7.01 too. Have you updated to 7.02? The read me file does say it fixes some problems on some installations of 7.01.

You may have some problems because Apple has not certified that everything works with Windows 8 yet.

Rentals are one-time only downloads, they will not show on other devices/computers for redownloading.
If you rent a film on your iPad or Apple TV then you can only watch it on that device. If you rent it on your Mac then you can move it from there to your iPhone or your Apple TV (if it's a first gen Apple TV) : FAQs about renting movies from the iTunes Store :
If you rented the movie on your computer, you can move it to an iOS device or Apple TV (1st generation). To do this, connect the devices and sync using USB. When you move a rented movie from your computer, it will disappear from your computer’s iTunes library. You create the playlist on the other computer which may require moving or copying of the media from the first computer to the second computer.

If you wish to use home sharing then you need to setup the Apple TV under your ID.

I bought a Sandisk Connect Media Drive, downloaded the app from iTunes. Before iOS 8, movies played fine. After iOS upgrade I can no longer play movies downloaded from iTunes to the media drive. Anyone else have a similar issue?

I checked with SanDisk's own online support and they indicate that they have notified Apple of the issue.
According to SanDisk, the problem lies with Apple not having the iOS 8 version of the Safari browser having DRM decoding enabled that the Media Drive relies upon to decode and play iTunes DRM titles. Non DRM encoded videos will play in the browser.
DRM audio is not effected as this is handled by the native iOS music app.
As of the date of this post SanDisk have not been given a timeframe by Apple for this issue to be resolved.
I hope that Apple resolves this issue quickly as I have a large collection of DRM video titles on a 128Mb memory card installed in the Media Drive that I am unable to view.

It will allow me transfer purchased songs but not songs I had that were downloaded off of my CD's. Where do I access that library and how do i get it back on iTunes? When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? Yes, the general concensus is that you do not need a connection given you are doing this on a computer. If you start trying to copying items the situation becomes more complicated, especially if it involves an iPad.

If the built-in XML parser is getting bogged because there is
too much to
handle, you ought to try loading smaller chunks of data.
