ITunes 7.3.1 - lost purchased tracks + playlists

Hi guys hope some1 can help. I updated my iTunes to 7.3.1 2 days ago and up until 2 hrs ago all my purchased tracks and playlists were intacked. Now everytime i open it there are no playlists or purchased music listed. I checked my purchase history in the store and they are all listed there but not in my library. When i opened my finder they are also listed but my Library is empty. Please help.

I just went through hours of **** with this 7.3.1 itunes update. I couldn't open Quicktime as well. And Software Update wouldn't let me download the latest Quicktime update.
Itunes was opening and then immediately quitting. So here is what I did after trying everthing I could think of;
I got rid of itunes altogether and then downloaded itunes 4 from ilife '05 using Pacifist to select itunes only. It still wouldn't open correctly. So on a whim I downloaded Quiktime 7.2 from the Apple site only. Opened fine. Then, I downloaded itunes 7.0 from ilife '06 and everthing seems to be working fine.... so far. I am assuming I will have no trouble going from itunes 7.0 to 7.1 to 7.2.. No way in **** am I going to 7.3.1 though!! Hope this helps everyone!

  • Upgrade to 7.4.3.1 - Lost Purchased Music, Playlists and Library

I upgraded to 7.4.3.1 last weekend. This weekend I start iTunes and none of my 100+ songs are listed in my library, all of my playlists are gone (replaced with the generic 90's Music, Music Videos, My Top Rated, Recently Added, Recently Played, Top 25 Most Played) playlists - all of which are empty. Also under the "Store" heading...my Purchased folder is gone. I must have had 30+ purchased songs in there.
Any ideas how to get everything back?

Hi, I had the EXACT same thing happen to me.
Upgrade to 7.4.3.1 - Lost Purchased Music, Playlists and Library.
I let iTunes update last Sunday 10/14/07 and today I opened it up and Vista started rebuilding the library, then crashed and said it did not have a solution to this problem and shut iTunes down.
It created a, iTunes Library (Damaged).itl file.
I tried the help file that said to drag the C:\Users\ME\Music\iTunes Music folder onto my Library folder but it crashed after transferring 20 songs or so.
All of my music is in this iTunes Music folder so it is just a matter of trying to get iTunes and Vista to rebuild my Library so I can recreate my Playlist.
So I will keep looking for a solution, but this is getting silly !

  • Lost Purchased Music Playlist

I have purchased music from iTunes but no Purchased Music playlist. How do I create one? Thx, Vermont
    Compaq Presario   Windows XP

I've used your technique to create an MP3 playlist.
I created a smart-playlist using "kind" as a criteria and MP and a "match" parameter. That action created a MP3 plus MP4 playlist. Then I used the Search Bar to select only MUSIC resulting in my mp3 list.
Is there an easier way to do that? Tried MP3 as a match parameter, but iTunes does not recognize it.

  • Lost "purchased on" playlist during io5 update. Can it be recovered and if so where can i find it?

My daughter updated her itouch for the first time in months [I've been telling her to do it regularly]. After the io5 upgrade completed, she discovered that her touch, and the itunes library, does not show the playlist "Purchased on E's itouch". Is there any way to get it back?

Im having the same issues-though I've been updating the software regularly, Now that I've updated my 3rd generation iTouch, I can't play any of my purchased items nor will they even show up on my ipod anymore!
I have no idea what to do with this situation-any help/ideas would be much appreciated!

  • ITunes 7.7.1 lost my music & playlist contents

I had a big problem when I upgraded to 7.7.1 - apart from about 450 songs, iTunes was unable to locate my music, despite it all being in exactly the same place as it had been before. After a lot of fannying around, I've now managed to get all of the songs back into the library (I hope).
However, depsite all of my playlists still being present, most of them contain no songs. I've tried restoring old versions of the library from Time Machine, but I can't get the songs back into the playlists. Any ideas?
    Thanks, Ed

I am having the same problem, upgraded to 7.7 and now Itunes can't find any of my songs??? WHAT THE ****!!! How do I get them back???

  • IPhone reinstall, iTunes not downloading properly, lost purchases

Hi - I have a PC which I use as my main iTunes PC, I also have an iPhone 4. Ive been working away a lot so have been downloading all my music to my iPhone. It was getting full and connected it to my PC to back up and shift some of the files. It crashed and I had to do a reinstall. Losing all my purchases:(
Is there any way I can get these purchases back? I have just purchased a new MacBook Pro which I will now be using as my main hub.

    Hello BwarsIG88
Check your purchase history by going to the iTunes Store and then click on purchases. From there you can see all your purchase history and download what you are missing.

  • Recover "Purchased Music" Playlist

Under the "Store" section in iTunes, I accidently deleted the "Purchased Music" playlist that contains a playlist of all purchased music on that computer. Note that I did NOT delete the music, just the playlist.
For example under "Store" instead of showing:
    Store
    -iTunes Store
    -Shopping Cart
    -Purchased Music
    But mine just shows:
    Store
    -iTunes Store
    -Shopping Cart
I looked under all the settings and preferences I could find to try to turn it back on. I also tried searching and just found a bunch of threads where people had deleted their purchased music, not this playlist.
If I can't get it back that's fine, but figured I would ask since it one of the defualt playlists. Thanks in advance.

i did as described (created a smart playlist with purchased and protected AACs), and it has successfully identified my purchased files, but when i try to drag them to the green purchased playlkist under "store" they do not transfer. it is as if the "purchased" playlist is protected from any additions that do not come from the itunes store, although all of these songs were purchased on the itunes store. any suggestions?
Try dragging the actual songs from your Library into the Purchased playlist, and not the songs that appear from the Smart Playlist; use the Smart Playlist to identify the purchased entries and try again this way.
Although I'm not totally sure why it isn't adding to your Purchased list. I just added the same purchased song to my Purchased playlist twice, through both methods described. (from Smart Playlist and from my Library)

  • HT1386 I recently purchased an album from itunes.  When I subsequently sync'ed my ipod touch I ended up with all tracks of that album doubled on my ipod and I lost all my playlists. Subsequent syncing has not fixed it.  Any ideas what to try?

I recently purchased an album from itunes.  When I subsequently sync'ed my ipod touch I ended up with all tracks of that album doubled on my ipod and I lost all my playlists. Subsequent syncing has not fixed it.  Any ideas what to try?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    You said:
No, I do not want to "factory reset" my iPod. No I do not wish to do anything crazy long or hard to fix this.
That may be necessary, It is not what you want to do/not do but what is required to resolve your problem.

  • HT4759 Why when I got my new computer now using windows 8. I lost all my playlists and my purchased song list. Im missing so much music....I downloaded Itunes onto the new computer, I logged into my account w/ my apple ID expecting all my stuff to be as i

My issue is just with itunes....not my ipod... Ive been afraid to plug my ipod in to charge it incase it automatically sincs with the Itunes I have now on my new computer since this itunes is empty of my purchased songs and self made playlists. I dont want my ipod erased! I just dont understand why I cant get someone on the phone with their support service with out a serial number?! Itunes does not have a serial number that I can find. I just want my account to be as it was on my old computer. I very much dont want to lose all my music

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

  • HT203433 I cannot find some of my previous purchased songs on iTunes Music Store? Lost?? Strange!

    Hi,
I have lost many musics in the same album which I had purchased on iTunes Music Store.
I bought an album named "100 Supreme Classical Masterpieces: Rise of the Masters" about a year ago. It is a collection of classical music. It was a 100 piece of music but now I want to re-download it but it only shows me 15 tracks. I've checked it is not hidden. I've tried to search for it in iTunes Music and I found it. It is a 100 track album and it says that you've purchased this but in Purchase section only gives me 15 songs. Please help
    Any idea?
    Thank you.

I'm having the same problem with iTunes 11. When I purchase songs for the iTunes Store, they don't appear in iTunes for me. They appear immediately on my mobile devices, but in order to get them to appear in iTunes, I have to turn off iTunes Match and then turn it back on, and even then they only appear as being available for download. Oddly enough, if I go into the iTunes Media/Downloads folder, the original downloaded files are there. It's as if they aren't getting fully processed by iTunes and indexed properly after they are downloaded. It's incredibly annoying. I could probably drag those files into iTunes to add them, but I haven't tried that yet. Hopefully Apple will resolve this issue quickly. In the meantime, check your iTunes Media/Downloads folder. The files are probably there.

  • Backed Up itunes/Re-Formatted/ and Now No Purchased Music Playlist

i did a back up of 1886 songs (something around 200 purchased itunes tracks included) then re-formatted.
being new to re-formatting, turns out i only did my C drive where my itunes libray is not (not needing to do my F drive)but i do think i had a part of itunes there because wiping out C drive; going back to my itunes everything was gone.
i wasn't worried, i just did "add folder to libray" from F drive.....and there it was, all my tunes were back BUT no playlists. that's ok but why aren't my purchased tracks showing up ? they are there but no organized in the green playlist.
how can i get them back in there so i know what i bought ?
    thank u for any help.
    Dave.

The next time you purchase anything, iTunes will re-create that playlist. In the meantime, you can simply re-build it by using a smart playlist with the following: "Kind contains protected AAC". Once you make your next purchase & the purchased playlist is re-built, you can simply drag/drop your smart playlist into the purchased, combining the 2. Once you're sure everything is back in the purchased list, you can delete your smart playlist. Hope this helps.

  • If I update itunes to 10.5, will purchased tunes not in istore be lost

I am about to update to iTunes 10.5, but read that purchased tracks which are not in iStore will not be available.  Does this mean I lose them, or will they still be stored locally?

Yes, I do have backup - Time Machine used on a regular basis, and a couple of bootable clones alternating, so that is not a worry.
Just that reading the stuff that comes with the update to 10.5 on i-Tunes it seems to to suggest all my music etc. will be moved to the cloud, but stuff that I purchased from i-Store, but no longer listed there will not be available.  So I am a tad concerned that stuff I have bought may be lost to me.
I find myself these days fairly cynical about how tech companies want to cream me of money for every little normal activity, so am distrustful about whether it is worth the hassle to upgrade i-Tunes.  Especially as I have little use for the added freedom of cloud based data.
I'm not a techno-twerp, but if the upgrade moves all my music to the cloud (with possible loss of ones they no longer sell) then I don't want it.  If on the other hand the upgrade simply puts a (virtual) copy of my stuff in the cloud, but leaves them all still on my local drive, so I can still use them - that's fine.
Maybe the problem is the way I understand the info, or maybe, just maybe, Apple are either badly describing what happens with upgrade, or planning to take yet more money off me for what I have already bought?
Thank you for helping me to sort this out!

  • I am downloading music from itunes it shows on my purchased playlist but when i try to transfer it onto a specific playlist it won't transfer across what do i need to do

i am downloading music from itunes it shows on my purchased playlist but when i try to transfer it onto a specific playlist it won't transfer across what do i need to do

When you are viewing the tracks on the hard disc, did you then click on "Import CD"?  This is needed to initiate the importing process that will add the tracks to your library.

  • Lost music and playlist when updating to itunes 11

I have updated my windows computer to the latest iTunes software (11) and when I've opened iTunes, all of the music I've added or purchased for the past year or so (a lot of music) is now not showing as being on my computer, but is showing as on the cloud, and its showing as if I need to download the music to be able to play it.
I have also lost all playlists I've created, and they have reverted back to an old set of playlists from about a year ago.
I think when the new iTunes has downloaded, its reverted back to an old iTunes library with old podcasts, playlists etc, but still recognises that my music is somewhere in the cloud.
I like the new layout of iTunes 11, but I want my content, playlists etc to go back to the way they were yesterday!
I'm hoping its as simple as restoring a file, or finding a folder (I've looked for what looks to be the most recent content folder, but this doesnt seem to help).
    Please help me.....

I figured it out. I was trying to create the Smart Playlist for podcasts on the iPod, but I needed to create it on iTunes instead.
