ITunes 7.3.2(6) - keeps freezing up

I tried to record two songs from my record collection using spin doctor
to go into my iTunes library. I had very little succes and trashed the idea.
Now every time I open iTunes it freezes up after about 3-4 seconds with the
spinning beach ball and the only way to close is via a force quit.
I have done a permissions check and all is well.
Activity Monitor reveals that iTunes is taking upto 93.30% of CPU without anything playing.
I had/have no other applications open at the time.
Can anyone offer a solution or help please.

I removed the iTunes prefernces (iTunes.plist) and now iTunes
seems to play as normal.

I have iTunes installed on my WinXP rig. It worked just fine untill it started to freeze just as I opened it. Help please!!

I'd try running the daily, weekly, monthly maintenance files, and also clearing the cache files.
A utility like Onyx or Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner will make both these tasks quite simple.

Why does itunes keep freezing?

While importing CD's to itunes with windows 8, it keeps freezing up and I have to end itunes through the task manager and restart. Any suggestions?

However it could be a bit of a pain to do if your problem is intermittent.
If the problem is system wide (see article) trying MSConfig to look for conflicting processes might help. I used to get a lot of several second hangs with norton 2005 which went away when I installed norton 2007 for example.

ITunes 5.2.1 keeps freezing?

After upgrading to iTunes 5.2.1, it keeps freezing up my Mac a few seconds after the application opens. It mostly happens when it can't "connect to the iTunes store" on startup. I wonder if there's a setting to stop it from automatically connecting to the iTunes store, or if there's a way to fix this freezing problem? I can't do anything unless I force the MacBook to shut down and it's quite frustrating. Help appreciated! Thanks.

I have a PC and the newest iPod touch. I was receiving error message -54 while syncing recently so i checked on this site and found out that some of my files could be locked. Sure enough I went through all of my files, found and deleted all the locked ones and wiped my itunes. I then kept getting a error message telling me that the sync session couldn't start. Then I wiped my ipod and uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes multiple times. But each time I try to sync my ipod, itunes freezes and I have to restart the entire program. I am at a complete loss as to what to do. I have tried everything I could, and have had no luck. The program keeps freezing on me and doens't allow me to sync my ipod or my ipad, so it would seem to be a problem with my itunes but I don't know what to do, nevermind how to fix it.

My Itunes keeps freezing when I try to sync it HELP!

After the new update my itunes keeps freezing everytime I connect my Ipod it will get through half of the syncing and then it freezes!!!!
So I closed it down and restart it it will freeze again. All I wanted to do was added new music onto my Ipod it when pear shaped!! I mained to reset it and I got all the music that I had purchased re-downloaded but that's only 42 songs! ALSO when any music does get on there the Ipod wouldn't let it play and the thingy sign has a cloudy colour to it!!!

New iTunes 10 for the iOS 6 keeps freezing

I recently updated my iOS for my iPhone 4s to the 6. When I plugged it into my computer, iTunes tells me I have to update it as well. Now, iTunes keeps freezing on me or saying that it can't connect to my phone for some reason. I'm kind of annoyed with it because as soon as I would get it to play music, it'll randomly freeze. Can someone help me? Is it just me or...?

Why is my itunes downloaded (rented) movie not playing correctly? It keeps freezing

I rented a movie through iTunes and am trying to watch it right now and it keeps freezing or playing the sound but not the picture...it's very frustrating and iTunes only gives you 24 hours once you play the movie to watch it before it is gone and I'd really like to watch it and not loose my money. Does iTunes have a better support system that allows me to talk to an actually Apple Tech??

I am having the same problem - it has happened to me twice now on different movies. The video player completely freezes and is useless until the movie that was playing expires the following day. Apple gave my a credit in iTunes, but I would like to be able to watch a movie all the way thorugh, not get another free movie that I can only watch for 10 minutes...

I updated my iphone 5 to ios7 on Sunday and have been having m?ajor problems with my phone since. It keeps freezing and I have to constantly press the home and on/off switch to get it to restart. I had updated my itunes and backed up the phone before doing the update. I'm getting very frustrated at this stage as the phone is practically useless. Is it worth doing a restore? Bearing in mind that I just tried to do that and got a message to turn off the 'find phone' feature in settings and when I tried to get into settings the phone froze again.

I don't have a good answer for you but reading these forums, it seems that network drives can often cause problems with iTunes like you describe.
