Itunes 7.3 Does Not Launch CD

I have read numerous articles, threads, discussions. When having Itunes diagnostics run, I get the following:
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
TOSHIBA Satellite M35
iTunes 7.3.1.3
CD Driver 2.0.6.1
CD Driver DLL 2.0.6.2
UpperFilters: GEARAspiWDM (2.0.6.1),
Current user is an administrator.
Video Display Information:
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 32M/64M
Connected Device Information:
Disk drive, IC25N060ATMR04-0, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
CD-ROM Drive, MATSHITA UJDA750 DVD/CDRW, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
D: MATSHITA UJDA750 DVD/CDRW, Rev 1.51
Drive is empty.
Anyone know how to fix this? I cannot get any Cd or DVD to play on my computer at this point. Thanks all.

ayeee! I'm in exactly the same place: I am stuck with a new download of iTunes 7.3, which I cannot open.
And I'm scared: if i download the upgrade on the operating system, will i LOSE all my tunes from iTunes -- or are they hidden somewhere? (they better not be lost, or i'll cry a river!0
i'm on a powerbook 10.4.6 ...
and this whole stupid thing only happened because i couldn't get vids i'd bought to play on my iTunes... so i followed the instructions to upgrade my quicktime player ... and once i HAD upgraded my quicktime player (for $30!!!) i couldn't use it, cause my operating system was old (as in: i bought this computer 9 months ago!)... and so then i thought, "gee, maybe if i uprade my iTunes, the expensive new quicktime pro will work, and i can actually see the videos I bought!"
it's like a giant catch-22.... ayeeeee! help!

  • After upgrading to iTunes 11 application does not launch and is disrupting other programs

    Hello!
I have trying to solve this problem all day:
After updating to iTunes 11 this morning, the application does not launch.
Furthermore, Windows Media Player, Win DVD8 and my Email Program fail to launch as well.
I have been through all support pages on iTunes, on support pages on the Windows 7 Forum, and I
read the answers given in the discussion.
I have tried and applied the solutions given, but none of them worked.
What happenes is iTunes tries to launch for a second, then stops, but the process keeps running
    in the task manager.
All methods through MSCONFIG failed. Uninstalling and re-installing (in the correct order) iTunes, related
programs and QuickTime failed as well.
I am on a Windows 7 Home Premium 65 bit desktop computer.
Up until the update this morning everything was running fine.
    Any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you very much in advance.

    Solved it.
I had a program running in the background, which did not get picked up by MSCONFIG.
I looked at the services on CCCleaner and there they were, many instances of this program, slowing the
computer down and preventing other programs (including iTunes) from functioning.
Turned them all off, and iTunes and all other pgms work again.

Does anyone have any other resolutions?
    Many thanks

  • ITunes 11.1.5 does not launch on Mac OS X 10.6.8

Just updated iTunes to 11.1.5, now it does not launch. Is it worth trying to fix, or better to try and install an earlier version?

I downloaded iTunes for 64 bit Windows from apple's site. After the installation, when I clicked on the iTunes icon, an error message came up saying that the shortcut was only for products currently installed.
Good lord, it's fighting back hard. But at least that is giving us some further insight into what might be going on. Usually that error message indicates trouble with the iTunes64.msi on the system ... so trouble with that might well have caused issues with the update to version 9.2. (The .msi contains the installation database for the program, so damage to that can prevent old files from being swapped out for the files for the new version during an update.)
I also hadn't realised (or thought through the implications) that you were running a 64-bit operating system. So we need to tweak the instructions from that Apple document in order to make sure that we've properly cleared away all the leftover program files.
Let's try the following proceudre this time, which involves a bunch of additional explicit precautions (just in case). Best to print these instructions out, because at one stage of proceedings, you won't be able to use a web browser.
    Preliminaries
    (a) Download and save a fresh copy of the 64-bit iTunes installer (iTunes64Setup.exe) to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line and don't start the install just yet.)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    (b) Download and install a copy of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
    *Uninstall phase*
Proceed with the instructions from [Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923] with the following amendments.
    (a) If when uninstalling any of the 6 listed applications, you get an error message (especially one about a "missing msi"), run the Windows Installer CleanUp utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install CleanUp"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, find the entry for the program that doesn't uninstall, select that entry, and click "Remove". Quit out of CleanUp and proceed with the next uninstall.
If all the programs seem to uninstall correctly, prior to moving to the *Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled* section, run CleanUp anyway afterwards. Check the list of programs in CleanUp for any Apple Application Support, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, BonJour, iTunes and QuickTime entries. If you find any such entries, select them in CleanUp and click "Remove". Quit out of CleanUp, and proceed to the *Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled* section.
    (b) When you get to *step 9* of the *Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled* section, instead use the following steps, rather than the ones goiven in the document. (Those ones in the document aren't quite accurate for 64-bit systems at the time that I'm writing this reply.)
    (9) Right-click the Apple folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Note: If you have a 64-bit version of the Windows OS, continue with step #10. Otherwise, skip to step #17.
    (10) Open the Program Files (x86) folder.
    (11) Right-click the iTunes folder (if it still exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    (12) Right-click the iPod folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (13) Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (14) Right-click the Bonjour folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (15) Open the Common Files folder.
    (16) Right-click the Apple folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (17) Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your operating system is installed on.
    (18) Open the Windows folder.
    (19) For 32-bit versions of Windows: Open the System32 folder.
For 64-bit versions of Windows: Open the Syswow64 folder.
    (20) Right-click the QuickTime file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (21) Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (22) Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
    *Reinstall phase*
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts, *do not open any applications.* Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now disable all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the reinstall by doubleclicking the iTunes64Setup.exe file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to the internet and/or your network.
Did the iTunes reinstall seem to go through okay?
If so, does iTunes launch now, without the StackHash-referencing "iTunes has stopped working" messages?

  • HT1349 Have gone to sync Itunes and program does not start up. Have uninstalled and reinstalled and still nothing. Very frustrating as it has 6 devices I maintain.

Have gone to update and sync Iphones and Ipods and Itunes does not start up.

Both the sccbase.dll and slbcsp.dll failed giving the error "LoadLibrary("xxxxxx.dll") failed. - The specified module could not be found."
There's our likely culprits. We'd better try swapping them out on the PC.
(The instructions I'm about to give are quite possibly going to sound odd ... I'll explain what we're doing and why at the end of the post.)
Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\ directory. (If you've set a different directory from \Windows\ as your Systemroot, look for \System32\in the alternate Systemroot rather than Windows.)
Can you see sccbase.dll and slbcsp.dll in there?
If so, drag each of them to your Desktop.
Now close the C:\Windows\System32\ window, wait about 5 seconds, and then open navigate to C:\Windows\System32\ again. Have copies of sccbase.dll and slbcsp.dll reappeared in that directory?
If one or both of the dlls aren't replaced and/or you get an error message from Windows saying you have a system file missing, move the dlls back into \System32\ from your desktop, and post back.
(What we're doing here is using XP's Windows File Protection system. It maintains a \dllcache where copies of essential dlls are kept on the PC. If it detects that a dll from \System32\ is missing, or has been replaced by an earlier version, and it has a current version of the dll in the dllcache, it will move a copy of the correct version of the dll into \System32\. There's more information about this in the following document from Microsoft: Description of the Windows File Protection feature.)
If the dlls are replaced, try restarting the PC and then relaunching iTunes again. Does it launch this time?
If it doesn't launch, try reregistering sccbase.dll and slbscp.dll again. Do they reregister properly, or do you get an error message again?

  • I have rented a movie in ITunes, however it does not show up in the movies on my ATV, but purchased movies do. What's up?

I have rented a movie through ITUNES, but it does not show up on my ATV movies menu as they have in the past in a category called rentals.  In fact that category isn't shown.  My purchased movies are showing up.  What's up?

A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.

  • HT1390 I've rented & downloaded a movie on my computer in itunes, but it does not show up on my Apple TV.  Everything else shows up on Apple TV, including my computer's movie library.  When I click on the movie in Apple TV it says I've already rented it.

I've rented & downloaded a movie on my computer in itunes, but it does not show up on my Apple TV.  Everything else shows up on Apple TV, including my computer's movie library.  When I click on the movie in Apple TV it says I've already rented it and asks if I want to rent it again.  No, I just want to watch it.

Unfortunately I have to if I download it on my computer.  I have rented itunes movies before directly using the Apple TV and it worked just fine and I could stay in the living room.  Without clicking that icon on my computer, there was no way to watch it.

  • TS3297 Every time I open iTunes to listen to music, not access the iTunes Store, I get the password sign in box, over and over again. When I try to access the iTunes Store it does not except my password. This has happened since the last update.

Everytime I open iTunes to play music, NOT to access the iTunes Store, I get the password sign in box for the iTunes Store. If I click cansel the box pops up a second time.
When I try to sign in to the iTunes Store it does not except the password and pops up the sign in box afain, and again endlessly.
This started happening about two weeks ago.

if itunes will not run, you probably have mangled windows badly
one feature of windows 8 is the refresh that saves libraries,
because you are using windows 7, you will need to backup all files to another storage device

  • The "edit in" does not launch if I make any develop changes.  I am using LR 5.6 and all of my plug ins are properly installed, up to date and were working just fine.  Edit in does work if I reset the image or load an unmodified DNG.

I am using LR5.6 on a Windows 7 machine with plenty of memory.  LR, CS5 and all of my plug ins have been working just fine.  Tonight I've found that if I make any kind of significant adjustments to an image, and the go to "Edit in.." that function does not launch.  I can use the Edit in command on an unmodified image, or if I reset the modified image.  I have the issue with all of my plug ins, including Photoshop, all of the Nik software, RadLab, and OnOne.  I believe that all of the plug ins are current.  I've been working with them yesterday and I had no issue.  I cannot recall anything that has changed since then, and I have not installed any software.  I'm at a loss!!  Please help!

I have traced the problem to a corrupted profile.  When I captured the images in question, I also used Color Cherckr to create a profile for processing.  When I apply that profile to the adjustments I make, I can no longer "Edit In".  If I use another profile, even one that I created using Color Checkr at a different point in time, I don't have the issue.  Something seems to have corrupted the new profile.  I will re-create the profile and see if the issue is resolved.
