ITunes 7.3: What's new?

I'm sure that no one will be surprised there is a new iTunes 7.3 out. Besides iPhone support, what is new with 7.3.0.54?

Allow the scan to complete.
On my well-functioning 802.11b network and dual-core processor with a gig of RAM it "determines gapless playback" for about 200 songs an hour. So if I have 5000 songs on my storage server then do the math.
iTunes only needs to perform the scan once.
...once for every new song you add. This morning I added 100 new songs so iTunes was tied up for a half hour digesting them. This evening I'll do a few hundred more songs and - I expect at least an hour when iTunes will be unusable. And my wife and are are only about 1/3 of the way through digitizing our 1300 CD collection so this will be going on for a long time.
And that's just on ONE PC - we have 4.
Saying it "only has to do it once" isn't very helpful for people who are constantly adding lots of new songs to their libraries.
I could understand the need to wait if I WANTED gapless playback but you are giving me a product that's unusable for a feature I hardly ever need.

However it seemd that updating iPod was faster (with 6.0.2 it seemed to pause while copying songs and take longer), also my 5G 30GB iPod moved past "do not disconnect" considerably faster after clicking Eject iPod.
Using version 1.1 of the iPod software and have been since it was released so the improvement seems to be brought about by 6.0.3.5

and need the new iTunes 11.1 to be able to use my iPhone on iTunes but I need the new mac software update OXS 10.6.8, but my mac doesn't need or have an update what should I do! I'm upset :'(
The requirements for iTunes:
Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
Your Mac must be able to run OSX 10.6.8. If you can run that OSX then you can run iTunes 11.1.

My past computer crashed and I am trying to get all my itunes songs back for my new computer, but even though I have downloaded all my past purchases some of them still aren't playing and can't be located. What can I do? It is quite alot of lost songs/ money.....

xI realise there have been a number of threads like this now that I have started looking, the problem is the back-ups i made were saved to a server network which has now also gone down, a case of dreadful luck really. Is there any other way to get the music back?

iWeb is not working for sending podcasts to iTunes, so I need a new web building tool. What is the closest thing to iWeb that I can use, which also supports podcasts?
There's no reason you can't go on using iWeb for this - with iWeb '08 you have to publish to a local folder (i.e. on your Mac) and then upload the contents of the folder (not the folder itself) to your hosting service: and you have to make sure you enter the new URL in the Publish information or the feed won't work properly; this done, an iWeb podcast should work fine.
Of course there is still the problem that iWeb is not supported and sooner or later a system upgrade may break it. You could look at RapidWeaver: you can make podcasts with that, though the last time I looked into that - which was admittedly some time back - I didn't feel it was ideal for this. There are lots of other podcast creation programs or services around. WordPress is OK but it may be a bit of a steep learning curve: Libsyn is an online service that seems to work reliably. Blogger writes messy feeds but does usually work. Podcast Maker used to work well - I used it myself a few years back - but it rather looks as if it's gone moribund and it may not be reliable with Lion/Mountain Lion, so you would want to check into that. -
my itunes can't see my new ipad ..did everything what day said on the apple web and still nothing ..help.....
What is "everything"?
First, be sure you are using the most recent version of iTunes.
Use a different cable and USB port.
You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists. -
I copied itunes from old pc onto new macbook pro and now itunes recognises iphone but I have to sync entire library and lose all apps etc. The sync playlists etc is greyed out. what can I do?

my itunes won't install the new itunes. I keep getting error messages that seem to be linked to MobileMe service which I don't even know what it is.

I updated iTunes and now my podcasts will not show. On the sidebar, it states I have 35 unplayed, but when I click on the podcast option, a "What's New" window opens up. Tv, movies and music - no problem. But I cannot manage my podcasts.

Hello. I have iTunes 8 on a MacBook with OS 10.4.11. Everytime I try to access the iTunes Store, I get a "What's New in iTunes 10.3" window that I can't seem to bypass. Any suggestions?

I got a new Ipad 2 and I am trying to get it work in vain. I have downloaded the iTunes on my PC, but even after executing the program nothing happens to the IPAD. I still get the image of the USB cable and the iTunes logo. What am I doing wrong?
You know that you have to connect the iPad to your PC with the cable that came with it - and then iTunes should start automatically and it will guide you through the set up process?
If you have already tried to connect the iPad - and you have launched iTunes - and you still have no luck - reboot your PC and then begin the process again.
