ITunes 7.6.2 dyld error with libstdc++

I updated to 7.6.2 on Apr 12. Since then I have not been able to start iTunes. I'm running OS 10.3.9 on a G4. The crash log is indicating undefined references in the iPodUpdater routines expected to be found in libstc++. Here's the crash log:
Host Name: alasdair

I am at a loss as to what to do. I tried to download an old version but the installer does not want to write any files (I'm guessing because it detects a newer version already installed). If anyone knows what is going on with dyld and/or can instruct me how to force install an old version of iTunes, I would be much obliged.
Thank you.

It could be that the routines/functions that are used in the version of iTunes you have are simply not available in the version of the OS you have, or...that last thing you installed/updated has overwritten a library file that doesn't have the function needed to run.
i don't know what apple's versioning control is like, but to be fair to them it is hard to keep things consistent when it is possible to have old, very old, new, not so new software all running together.
pmadrid doesn't say what version of the Mac OS he has, but the previous post using 10.3.9 might be in some difficulties because the stuff that Itunes at that version needs is not available - I know for instance that there is some quicktime that Itunes needs so that ought to be at the latest. I checked the specs and it does say 10.3.9 should be ok but you need QuickTime 6.5.2 or later so check that.
Also just installing an older version over a newer one isn't always a good idea agai depending on how the installer works for apple, they may simply not overwrite older files or you are compounding the problem by adding even older libraries etc.
I guess what I would do is to find the Itunes application, drag it to the trash and empty it. Your library will be intact as you are only deleting the application. Then apply any updates your system update detects. Make sure your quicktime is up to snuff and then download the latest version of itunes and reinstall.

  • ITunes 7.4.2 Run Error with Vista (insufficient privileges)

Short and sweet. Windows Vista. McAfee Security. User Profile is coded as Adminsistrator and previous iTunes version was working fine.
Loaded 7.4.2 and install registered complete. First time to open the store..rec'd error: "The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: C;\Program Files\iTunes\About iTunes.rtf." Now..when I click on the actual file, I get "You don't have permission to open file". Yes..I went into the security tab to open the file to all users, and when I clicked the icon again, it showed another file, and another...so on. I certainly do not want to manually edit every single file and when I try to uninstall, I don't have permission to erase the files. Anybody with an idea what I am going through and have a fix?

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • My iTunes Store on IPhone comes up with an error ([newNullResponse]). It is just on the music tab, tv shows and movies tab works fine. I have tried restarting phone, closing app, turning my account off and on. What is the problem I need help?!!!!

My iTunes Store on iPhone comes up with an error [newNullResponse] always when I click the music tab. The movies and tv shows tab works fine. I have tried everything from restarting my phone to turning my account off and on.

Try a different cable and a different charger. If neither fixes it you probably need a new battery. Apple will replace it for $80 in the US; I don't know what the charge is in other locations.

Count me in as having the same problem. I have been leaving messages in the iTunes for Mac forum where others in there also are having problems. I have been unable to access my account since 11/7/2007. E-mails with Apple have not worked and now I haven't heard back from them since Saturday. I have tried both on a Mac and Windows machine and keep receiving the same error message that:
This Apple ID has not yet been used with iTunes.
I last purchased music with this account on 10/30/2007. I even tried resetting my password, changing my account info, trying on a computer with iTunes 7.4, etc. I have money in that account and 150 songs and 5-6 tv shows that I cannot access. I also just purchased a new computer and cannot sync my iPod with this computer since these songs will not transfer.
Apple really needs a phone number for technical support. Having to deal with e-mails back and forth (and waiting a day for each e-mail) is not a good business practice. Hopefully they will have a phone number in the future.
Either way, count me in on getting annoyed that a week later, this issue has not been fixed.

  • Can't sync with iTunes because of a internal error

I was doing a restore of my iphone 5 because none of the art work matched the song or the artist....All was fine I was downloading my Itunes Library from the cloud and all the sudden I got a error saying I cannot sync with itunes due to a internal error now its stuck I cant get in...
Please help these problems I never had until iOS 7 this downloading from the cloud requires a large bit transfer ..I feel it would be good to have the option to be able to download itune the old way by syncing with you computer via USB for individual song the cloud is great but large files take way to long and that's were the errors occur..
Also I'm in Bahrain were cell, wifi data transer is not as good as some places in the world...

This seems to be a commom problem. Mine occured in the middle of updating to the IOS 5. It didn't do it to my daughter's but it did it to mine & now whenever I try to sync or backup it constatantly says to delete old backup & that it's corrupted. Well I tried the deleting & The encrypting with the password & it still won't backup my phone & still says that same message. You would think Apple would give this help free automatically when they do an update!! I should have just left well enough alone I guess. But if anyone has any advice on how to fix it without deleting all my content (which is a lot), I would greatly appreciate it~!

iOS 6 (which runs on the iPhone 5) requires iTunes 10.7, which requires OS X 10.6.8 or higher.
Upgrade OS X on your Mac.

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/baddns.php
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/hackedrouter.php
If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
