ITunes 7.6 has bugs... can't go back to older versions w/o losing info

This is getting sad...
update to iTunes 7.6 and encounter constant freezing...making the program useless and an extreme hassle and waste of time.
I uninstall and reinstall 7.5. Guess what, yep...can't do it.
Well, I could... if I felt like recreating my entire library. Lame. 7.6 modified my library file so older versions can't recognize it.
I have three choices now... 1) spend 8 hrs in iTunes 7.6 doing what I could do in 15 mins with iTunes 7.5.... 2) spend 8 hours recreating my library file using 7.5.... 3) wait days, weeks, months until Apple fixes problems.
erie how Apple is slowly turning into Microsfot.

I had a similar disaster on my hands after upgrading. Found that all the links to my tracks were lost as were all the playlists and modifications I had made. Just like others, I had spent endless hours modifying songs and creating playlists. Following Apples recommendations to import my songs again was not a solution I could accept. I searched all over for a solution on Apple's site but nothing addressed it specifically.
However, I did piece together a solution that worked perfectly for me. I backup my data regularly and was able to go to my most recent backup folder and grabbed the library.xml and 2 library.itl files from \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\. Once I replaced the existing files with these backup files I was able to find everything just as it was and should be.
Hope this works as well for you, I feel your pain...

  • How can I get back an older version of a document in Pages from the icloud

In Pages I thought I could edit down and rename a document and it would keep the original intact - how can I get the original back?

If you resaved the file and changed its name it is wherever you saved it to.
If you changed the name of the open file then that is your only copy.
You can go back to previous versions by various methods. In Pages 5 it is:
    Menu > File > Revert

  • On iMac running OS 10.6.7, tried ver 4 3x's and each time had to revert back to older version since can't import bookmarks, etc. Now I can't revert back to older version! Help!

Using iMac running OS 10.6.7. I've tried Beta ver 4 before (2x's) and each time I had to revert to older version since I was unable to import all my bookmarks, etc. after following all the right steps. I have them saved as HTML and json files. Neither works in ver 4 now. I am stuck. I've Googled fixes, but now need your help to resolve this incessant problem.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • HT204269 I can't find MobileSync/Backup/ in the Application Support folder in Library, I'm trying to find my phone back up from a few days ago before I bought my new iPhone, but when I searched on iTunes backup it has been replaced by the back up the day

I'm trying to find my phone back up from a few days ago before I bought my new iPhone, but when I searched on iTunes backup it has been replaced by the back up the day after that. Now all my data from my old phone is lost including some really important things. Also before that iTunes wouldn't let me sync my iPhone 5s data to my new iPhone 6 Plus, saying that the data is corrupt, that's where all this trouble started. I've been trying to back-up the old phones data so I can access it, but it's been replaced when ever I plug the new phone in, and no the 'sync automatically when connected' is not ticked. Please help me find my back ups.

Your iCoud account remains in iCloud even if your device is restored.  (In fact, you can't delete an iCloud account from iCloud, you can only choose to stop using it.)  If the device is restored, or it may no longer be signed into your iCloud account but your account will still exist in iCloud.

    1) The older version of Bonjour can not be removed. Contact your technical support group.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • How can I get back the other version of itunes?

I can't pass playlists from itunes to my i-pod, and the sthetic of the new itunes is not a good one.
Could I get back an older version? those were easier to use, more simplier

Apple wisely leaves a copy of iMovie version 9 installed in the Application folder when you download version 10.

  • Can I revert back to old version of itunes from version 12

I use itunes version 12 and have a nano 7th generation.  I recently upgraded my itunes to version 12 and have to say I don't like it.  Can I revert back to earlier version and how do I know what version I used previously?
The main reason I would like to revert back is that I have encountered a problem that I never had previously with itunes.  Upon purchasing a song, when I try to copy it to my ipod I am getting the following error message :
"(song name) wasn't copied to ipod because it is only available in icloud".   Since when did I do that?
When I attempt to download from icloud I get the following error message "There was a problem downloading.  You do not have enough access privileges for this operation".
What can I do now ??  Can I revert back and will this sort the problem?
    Many thanks

The skin may never be made compatible.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • HT1925 I cannot install the latest version of Itunes under Windows XP because itunes.msi cannot be found in order to remove the older version (11.0.1.12) of itunes

I cannot install the latest version of Itunes under Windows XP because itunes.msi cannot be found in order to remove the older version (11.0.1.12) of itunes.  Is there any other way I can accomplish an upgrade without using the Itunes.msi file?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Is there any way I can get back an older version of Pages, the Version 5.0 is useless to me

I feel really dumb as I do not have a backup of the older versions and I thought, that Apple might only add some bug fixes or style changes to the new versions, but the way it functions right now makes it useless to me... No I would like to know If I can get back the older version somehow.
    Thanks in advance

You can have the iWork '09 apps be the default but still have the new apps installed. After I installed the new iWork updates I created a folder on an external drive & named it "other applications." I then moved the new iWork apps to this folder. I have icons for two versions of Pages & Numbers (I rarely use Keynote) in my Dock. Even with two versions of Pages running, double-clicking an existing file opens in Pages 4.3.

  • Verything wants to downloaEd as an index.php can I go back to earlier version?

Every time I try to download a file It wants to download as an index.php file, this started after FireFox automatically upgraded to 8. Also freezing up and switching to earlier page. CAN I GO BACK TO EARLIER VERSION???

Previous versions of iTunes won't use the  iTunes library (newer version) file
Fortunately, iTunes makes backup copies of its library,
So when you reinstall, you have to delete (or rename just in case) library file, you have to copy (and rename) one the backups (usually the most recent one) to take its place
the library file is called         >>         iTunes Library (extension itl)
and should be in  the          >>          Desktop\Libraries\Music\iTunes\           folder
the backups should be in the    >>     Desktop\Libraries\Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Library\        folder
that should make iTunes work, wiith most or all of your library intact
