ITunes 7.6 Keeps Freezing!

i just upgraded to 7.6, after having numerous problems with 7.5. now i still have all of the problems of 7.5 (burning/importing very very slow), but now, itunes 7.6 keeps freezing for like 30 secs, about every other minute. its INCREDIBLY annoying. anyone got any tips on how to fix this?
example: when i right click on a song, the menu doesnt pop up for 30 secs, and if im listening to a song, the track time will freeze for about 30 secs.

Dreifort,
Are you saying that Bonjour is what's causing your system to freeze or are you just noticing that Bonjour was installed with iTunes 7.6?
Sharing of music between computers on the same network (i.e. people on the same router) has been part of iTunes since iTunes 4.1 which was the first version that ran on Windows. The difference being that in previous versions Bonjour was compiled into the application, making the iTunes application bigger and now it is a separate external service.
Bonjour is currently required for a number of features in iTunes. (1) sharing between local computers, (2) remote speakers or sharing between your computer and your stereo, and (3) Apple TV or sharing between your computer and your TV. iTunes has and will continue to ship technology (like Quicktime) that it needs to make its features work.
Nothing is being (or has ever been) sent back to Apple or any Apple server via Bonjour network connections.

I couldnt find a topic for my question, so maybe you could help...when creating an account on itunes, why does it ask for credit card info? And what if you purchase or redeem itune cards for purchasing songs, do you still need to register a credit card, this seems lame. Is there any way around this?, (Also how do you post a new topic in here?) thanks...

  • Video from itunes home sharing keeps freezing on ipad

Every time I try to play back a video through homeshareing, it freezes. The video plays fine on my PC through iTunes, and directly from the file. The video files are stored on a networked HD and not on the PC or iPad.
I have also recently noticed (past 1-2 months) that the iPad keeps dropping it network connection. I have owned the iPad since April 2011 and this is the first time this sort of thing has been happening. No changes to the OS in the last 2 months (as far as I can remember).
    Thanks!

Are you actually closing the app or just going back to the home screen or another app. To close an app, you drag the app up from the multitasking display. Is that what you are doing?
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the iTunes app then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
After you completely close iTunes, reset the iPad. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • ITunes 11.1 keeps freezing after upgrading to iOS7

I upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS7 yesterday and also downloaded iTunes 11.1. Now whenever I plug my iPhone into iTunes, it takes ages for it to recognise my iPhone and when it does it starts to back up and then freezes my entire iTunes.

Same exact thing but an iPhone 4. The second i unplug it, it returns to normal like nothing happened. Also, I found that even people with iOS 6 are having this issue so it's likely having to do with iTunes 11.1

  • Trying to update iTunes, the installer keeps freezing at 'Running iTunes Installer Scripts'.  i've tried several different versions of iTunes and can't install any of them.  I'm stuck with Version 4!!  Help!

I'm trying to update iTunes on my mac (Power Mac G5 running tiger), but it always freezes at 'Running itunes installer script'.  I have tried a few different versions of iTunes, but I have the same problem with all of them.  I'm stuck on version 4 (which came with my os discs)!  Help?!

Ok, First this link should solve the windows scripting host error. I used "Download windows script host" in a google search and it was the first hyperlink.

I'm assuming you are trying to run the installer from apple. What I would suggest is you download the installer manually to your desktop then launch the installer. If try to run the installer over the intertubes you may run into a problem like you did.
Then I would uninstall itunes 8 and any software associated with it like the apple update software, quicktime, apple mobile device support. However uninstalling itunes should remove any additional software it installs. Then clean out your temp folder:
    6. Clean out your temp folders,
    a. C:\windows\temp (if one exists)
    b. C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp
Sometimes installers will pick up old files or won’t delete their temporary files.
Then with a newly download installer on your desktop try launching it. Let me know if that helps.
Here is an apple doc that help.

  • Trying to down load itunes but it keeps freezing during down load :(

I cant download itunes for my ipod i was given by a friend ? im new to it all ? also while trying to download itunes it always freezes on me???

I would suggest giving us more details and clarify both questions.
From your message, I got these two questions, please confirm that they are the right ones:
    1) You were given an iPod from a friend and you want to load your music onto it?
    2) When you're downloading the iTunes program from the internet, your browser becomes unresponsive and freezes?
If those aren't the correct questions, please take time to write them in a way that we'll understand exactly what you're trying to do.
Once we have an idea of what you're asking, we can try to answer properly.
    Thanks!

  • ITunes 7.6 keeps freezing up

Does anyone else have this problem? I downloaded iTunes 7.6, and now within a minute of opening up iTunes, I get the rainbow spinwheel cursor, like it's thinking, even if I haven't done anything. It is then unresponsive for several minutes.
This an awful upgrade. Did no one beta test this?!?
Jobs better get his head in the game. He keeps screwing up and Apple's not going to be the hot property it is right now.

    Thanks alanlyon
I tried a fix that some users suggested: deleting two iTunes files out of the Library/Receipts:
    iTunesAccess.pkg
    iTunesX.pkg
    That DID NOT Work.
Instead I used your link and downloaded good 'ol v7.5
Threw iTunes7.6 into the Trash, rebooted the system, emptied the Trash and reloaded 7.5.
Luckily I only added 5 new CDs today so I could use a backup library from my "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder saved before I did the upgrade, then I just drop those 5 digitized folders into the music library.
Thanks again. Normally I take my own advice about not upgrading to the latest until they work out the bugs, but iTunes had been so good up until now I just rolled with it.

  • New Install iTunes 7.0 keeps freezing...

and locking up my computer. Have to restart every time.
I recently upgraded to iTunes 7.0. Every time I open it, it goes into this "Determing Gapless Payback" thing, and after getting through about 100 of my 4,000 songs, it freezes and nothing but the twirly wheel cursor thing shows. Nothing else happens.
Then, I try to force quit. iTunes goes away from the force quit menu, but the little carrot remains below the icon in the dock. Eventually, the finder and more or less my whole computer freeze... what gives?
    Thanks. Getting desperate for tunes.

  • Itunes downloaded movies keep freezing during playback

and i have to keep pressing play every few seconds

    Hi mate
Sorry about the lack of information but I must admit that I am not the best on computers but I am trying to learn. The best way to describe what is happening is this -
I download videos from sky player or a sharing site and it downloads fine as I have done since January. When I try to watch the movie it will start fine but after several minutes of watching it the screen freezes (only for a nano second) and then starts again. There does not seem to be a problem when I watch a DVD just via this way.
Now trying to answer your questions, I currently use windows media player as I am on windows 7.
I have attached my diagnostics report about my system if that helps below:-

my itunes movie rental is frozen and will not let me watch past a little over an hour and half. how can i continue my movie?

    Hey rossfromwarren,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like you were experiencing an issue with an iTunes Movie Rental. Due to the time limits associated with rentals, you may wish to report a problem with your purchase if the issue was not resolved before expiration:

  • ITunes in Yosemite keeps freezing up- ideas?

Ever since migrating to Yosemite a few days ago, I've been having issues with iTunes *not responding.*
Looking at my Activity Monitor, it looks like the following processes are *not responding:*
    • iTunes
    • identityservicesd
    • coreaudiod
    • com.apple.MediaLibraryService
When iTunes is functioning normally, all of these processes are working just fine.
Does anyone have any ideas what the issue might be? Do you need any additional information?
    Please let me know.
