iTunes 7.6 is a DISASTER!!!!!!!!!!! What was Apple thinking when they released this update?????????? I can't play audio CDs, can't burn CDs. I've tried ALL suggestions in these discussion threads. I've given up on fixing this. I just want to get the songs I've recently purchased from the iTunes Store to my new iMac which, thank God, is running iTunes 7.5. I can't make a CD to transfer the songs. I think Apple should give me a credit so I can download all these songs on my new computer without paying for them again. How do you contact them? I've looked at all their contact info in the Apple site and none are appropriate to address this issue. I've owned an Apple Computer since 1984 and never had a problem of this magnitude. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the same problems here. Since the update 10.5.2 iTunes doesen't work at all for me. I don't have any Plugins for iTunes or the system at all. I did a PRAM deleted, User rights fixed, iTunes new installed, deleted preferences, all with no help.
iTunes is still nor working properly ...
I thought it could be because in Switzerland we don't have the iPhone or the rental store, but since you have the same problems in NY, it's not that neither.

You may be able to go back with Time Machine but this may involve restoring other items too (https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441404). Alternatively:
Back up your computer first, in case the unexpected happens.
Quit iTunes.
Get iTunes 10.7 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576 or the direct download link at: http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
Do a few preparatory steps by making sure all iTunes components are not running and cleaning old files.   See https://discussions.apple.com/message/20475394. Do steps 3 and 4. Steps 6-8 may be also useful but I don't know if they are essential. Some of the other steps are not necessary, duplicate steps listed later in my post or are perhaps even unhelpful in the process.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7. Simply dragging the application to the trash may not work. Lion (OSX 10.7) and newer systems have iTunes integrated into the operating system and deleting is a bit more involved. Two ways to do this are:
1. Use the shareware Pacifist utility (http://www.charlessoft.com/) to install iTunes 10.7 including all associated system files. Details at http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=16400819&postcount=6
2. Check this reference on how to delete the iTunes application itself:

    After deleting the application there may be other files that need downgrading too. See the note about error -42408 at the end of this post. You may want to tuck these away somewhere safe until you have completed the installation of iTunes 10.7. I have not tested this but ideally if newer versions are not found then the installer will put in the old versions. This may include these files in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ which apparently get updated by iTunes 11:

DeviceLink.framework
iTunesAccess.framework
MobileDevice.framework
After doing one of the two procedures above you will have to rescue the most recent old iTunes library from your iTunes > Previous Libraries folder. Rename it "iTunes Library.itl" and replace the existing one in the iTunes folder. A newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file so you have to replace it with the old one or you will get an error message. Note, this will revert your library to the version at the time of the upgrade and you will have to update any changes made since. See:

Well here's my story, I'll try to keep it as short as possible.
I have a 4s on pre-order with estimated delivery date 24-31 oct. I'm in Ontario.
Today I decided to go to my local futureshop and maybe try to play with a live demo of the phone, but to my surprise there were tons of new 4s phones in stock for my carrier bell mobility, there were 4 people in front of me and the guy said maybe a 2 hour wait, so I said what the heck I'll wait and buy it today and just cancel my pre order from apple store. So I waited about 2.5 hours until the others were all served.
Finally my turn came and he got the new phone out for me and looking at my account he said I'm not eligible for an upgrade, I say I know it's no problem i will pay full price and just sell my old one like I did last time, he said apple forbids us from selling it outright for the first couple weeks. Boom all that waiting for nothing, now I have never heard of this and he couldn't explain any further. Does anyone know why apple won't let them sell the phone at retail value yet?

The 5G is my first iPod and first apple product and have got to say I love it, it trully is a wonderful product however I must say that the lack of a proper case is very poor when you consider what a trully beautiful item the pod is, and it really should come with a half decent case in order to give a £300 paying customer half a chance of keeping it looking tip top. 2nd the aftermarket manufacturers have seriously missed the boat in not getting cases on the shelves in time.
My only other gripe is I feel that apple`s logic or should i say lack of control over file creation ( sub folders ext- ) is very poor, it would have taken very little extra code to put that feature in, anyway that stinks.

Wow Itunes 11 *****. What were they thinking? How do I load songs into it?

It is mind boggling how back Itunes has become. I've been working for 30 years with computers and I cannot use that software. Once I get it to install correctly (if it ever does), how do I get my songs into the library. I used be able to select whole disk folders at a time and it would load them all. Now it seems I can only load them a song at a time...say it ain't so. I have thousands of songs.
Ah, I said, I know what I'll do, I'll connect my Ipod touch and load the library from there. I did this before I attempted to update to 11.3. When I connected my ipod and tried to get ITunes to sync the with the library on the ipod all it would do is ask me if I wanted to delete everything on my Ipod....NO! I want to copy the IPod library in to Itunes on the PC. Since when does sync mean only in one direction. Blocked.
Install of 11.3 failed....blocked.
I bought my wife a new ipod nano 7g (wonder if I can get my money back). Guess what? can't load songs onto it from my Macbook cause I'm running OSX 10.5.8 and it requires a later version of Itunes that won't run on my mac. Blocked. Have to look at updating to OSX 10.6.8 which I don't have a lot of confidence in given the way apple has mucked things up so badly with other thing (e.g., changing connector to lightning, Itunes, etc.). That's why I'm trying to use windows. But alas....blocked.
Apple Soft has gone mad. No better and maybe worse than Microsoft and Google Soft.
Can you tell I'm frustrated at having to wrestle constantly with this stuff.

Enable the menu bar with Ctrl+B. From here you can use File > Add Folder to Library.
Enable the side bar with Ctrl+S. Makes navigating the library easier.
iTunes has always had a limited sync feature, media syncs to the device, ratings, play counts and purchases can sync in either direction. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
For general advice installing/updating iTunes see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Stupid Me! What Was I Thinking ??

OK, I know, everyone on here is gonna' Laugh & say "WHAT AN IDIOT!!" I agree with you, believe me. A friend of mine gave me the M2452 Keyboard. I wanted to clean it a bit, so instead of taking the keys off & taking it all apart (the Correct Way), I took a semi Soapy Sponge and ran it along the Keyboard. This was 5 hours ago. Believe it or not, I did this with a PC keyboard many years ago & after a day of drying out, it still worked perfectly and was clean. So anyway, I plug it into my PC, which it was working with, prior to the cleaning, and now it does not work. It types different letters words, commands, etc... Could I be Lucky & perhaps after a day or 2, it may completely dry out and start working. I know it's not that big a deal. I can get another. Just wondering what you think and wanted to share my Silly story. I'll keep you posted as to what happens. Hey, what do you want from a PC User ??

The great trick when washing electronics is to ensure that they are fully dried before attempting to use them again. Often, assuming no residue is left, you actually can washed such things as keyboards, and even far more complex equipment, and return them to use, but powered them up (or in the case of a keyboard, connecting to a running system) before it's dry can cause shorts and component failure.
Sometimes, a good rinse with cold, clean, water and a lengthy period to air dry is all that's needed.
In the future, you might find a soft paintbrush is a less risky took for cleaning debris out of a keyboard, and for cleaning off key caps, Blu-Tac (for those in the UK) rolled on the key tops works rather well. Never found an equivalent in the US, but I'm sure there must be something similar!

I clcked before I thought about it. Initial stimulus the word annual (means once a year).. The gotcha annual monthly fee. I guess 50 dollars a year may have been a dream cost. Also, CLOUD usually reference is to software you can run from any location on whatever computer you are using. If you install it directly to a computer it ain't in no cloud. So if your gonna use it might as well buy it. Much cheaper that way.
I clicked to quickly and downloaded the creative cloud trial. After that it was buy me trial. It took me a a little bit to figure out how to un-install the thing. I did use the adobe uninstall tool. Which got most of it. I did find it embeded itself into my Nikon View NX2 (really anoying). The Adobe team must really have a low opinion of it's user base.
I guess you can fool some of the people all of the time. Anyway... Just sayin.

Maybe Im missing something having come from .Net, but is
there any particular reason that Flex uses a zero based month index
for the Date, DateField, and DateChooser classes?
I'm not sure, but I don't know of any place in the world that
uses 0 to represent January, 1 February, etc.
So basically, everytime I need to do anything with month
values, I will have to +1 to the end? Seems sloppy to me.

So my question it if the month field is indexed on 0 (event
those day is not, hour is not etc), and since 11 is the max value
possible for the month field...

everywhere else in the world would be 12/1/2007 but in flex would

Contact Apple support at 800MYAPPLE and ask them to assist you with resetting your security quesitons.
They will ask you to verify your identity. Not usually a big issue. Call them ask for assistance.
They can walk you through getting the security question issues resolved.

Most Windows users don't.
Purchase an external hard drive and use the backup software that comes with it to backup files from your computer.
Buy TouchCopy and install it on your new computer, connect your old iPod and transfer your songs to your computer.

What's Apple Doing about iTunes 7.7 bugs?

Does anyone know if Apple has even acknowledged the problems with itunes 7.7? I have searched the site and found nothing official from Apple — very frustrating. I know they are dealing with the mobileme debacle but it been two weeks already.
When can we expect a fix for itunes 7.7?
since updating to iTunes7.7 I get the spinning beach ball each time I connect my ipod.
I have been an loyal apple user since 1993 and I don't ever remember a time when apple dropped the ball like this. I hope this is not a sign of things to come as perhaps apple is becoming a victim of their own success.

This is a user to user forum, so it's not likely that anyone on here has the answer that you want, and if they do, they probably can't or won't post it. Apple has never been very public about what it's working on. I don't think they are ignoring the feedback coming from their users, I just don't think they are announcing what's going on every step of the way. iTunes v7.7.1 was released today, and some users are reporting that it's fixed issues they've been seeing. Prior to this update, some people reported getting the issue of iTunes hanging when mounting an iPod resolved by recreating their library file:

Give that if iTunes 7.7.1 doesn't solve what you're seeing.

It sounds like your iTunes Library file has been somehow changed, or recreated. This would prompt that warning to appear, preventing the iPhone from automatically syncing to potentially foreign content, and replacing what's currently on the iPhone.
You can try to import iTunes Music Library.xml into iTunes:
File > Import
This file is located in ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music Library.xml
BTW, Apps purchased from the iTunes store can be downloaded again for free should you lose the original file. Act as though you're going to purchase the app again and you'll receive a message stating you've already purchased the item, with an offer to download again for free.

If both of your Macs are affected by this issue it sounds as though your network may have a firewall issue, especially if your router has a built in firewall with settings that may not be readily accessible.

What are "Apple software updates"? Where is "iTunes & QuickTime" update?

When starting iTunes today, I got the box asking if I wanted to install 10.4. I clicked yes then got the big box that I've seen many times. It usually has MobileMe, iTunes & QuickTime, and an offer to install Safari. Today, and recently, I haven't seen the "iTunes & QuickTime" update option; it's been replaced by something like "Apple software updates." Today it was version 2.... Previously, I haven't gone ahead with the "Apple software updates" because I don't know what this consists of and it looks suspicious to me. Today, I again quit instead of updating "Apple software."

I've had iTunes since 2007 and don't recall "Apple software update" 'till recently. Perhaps the reason I've seen the message several times now, and again today, is that I've not installed it. It would then make sense to prompt me today before going ahead with the 10.4 update. Make sense to you?

I had to have my computer reimaged and a new Hard Drive installed - now I cannot sync my apple products - It says that my device is attached to an itunes library already - what to do?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just this occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.

Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID?
