Itunes 7/7.0.1 will not open load.

Bought a new 2nd Generation Nano about a week ago and still have yet to use it. I run a Pentium 3 with Windows XP, and Itunes 7 and 7.0.1 will not load nor open. I have not had problems with previous versions but Im having much hassle to try and resolve my problem. I have been searching these forums for the past 2-3 days looking for a anwser but i cant seem to find one. It seems like I have tried next to everything. When I click on the Itunes icon I can see the loading bar for about 10-10 seconds but it just quits, no messeage, nothing. I run Zone Alarm Sercurity System with AntiVir detector. I have tried shutting off the firewall and installing but same problem as before.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

a couple of preliminary questions, Kranks.
is your QuickTime currently launching fine? or is it doing the same sort of things?
if you reboot the PC, bring up your Task Manager to the "Processes" tab, and then try to launch itunes, does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it disappear after a few seconds, or does it persist in there?

iTunes 10.6.0.40 will not open on Windows 7, no error messages come up. Have tried un-installing it and re-installing it many times. Please help.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

    Hi
Can you use the mouse to access and start System Preferences?
When you rest the mouse over a dock icon, does its name pop up?
What happens if you open an application by ctrl-clicking on the icon then selecting Open?

Downloaded a book from itunes, works on iphone6, but will not open on ipad air. "not formatted correctly ". Any ideas ?

    Hello colinOxford0917,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with iBooks on your devices. If you continue to have issues opening the book in question on your iPad Air due to a format error, you may want to try deleting the copy on your iPad, then redownloading it directly to your iPad from the iBook Store. You may find the information and steps outlined in the following articles helpful:

  • My iTunes application on my computer will not open at all anymore

Alright so everytime i plug my iPod into the computer, the iTunes application opens. It said there was a new update for iTunes and so i started to install it. I was then on google looking up some songs on Youtube. Everything was slow so i decided to stop installing the update and it said the it was cancelling the install process for awhile so i just decided to end the task. And then the iTunes window closed as well. I tried opening the application again but it says "An application has made an attempt to load the C run time library incorrectly. Please contact the applications support team for more information." It says this everytime i try opening the application. So i deleted iTunes and re-installed it. Once it was done, the pop up that says that message comes up again. I have no idea what to do now since it will not open.

"The file 'iTunes Library .itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer verion of iTunes."
I think we're still making progress. Try the following user tip with that one:

  • Please help! My Itunes says corrupt file and will not open (IMac 2010). I couldn't fix it by reinstalling so I moved it to trash. It will not delete from my trash as it is saying "Japanese.lproj" is in use. I can't delete or open to close it, what do I do

    Please help!
My Itunes says there is a corrupt file and will not open (IMac 2010). I couldn't fix it by reinstalling ITunes so I moved ITunes to trash. It will not delete from my trash as it is saying "Japanese.lproj" is in use. I have never opened or used "Japanese.lproj". I can't delete ITunes or open ITunes to close the Japanese.lproj, what do I do? Thank you for any help you can provide..

It will not delete from my trash as it is saying "Japanese.lproj" is in use. I have never opened or used "Japanese.lproj".
Interesting. This sort of thing is more common on Windows systems. Taken at face value, one of the iTunes program files (one of the Japanese language resources) is damaged.
I'd try running your Disk Utility over your startup disk. Does it find/repair any damage? If so can you empty your trash and reinstall your iTunes successfully now?

  • Iphone not recognized by itunes and my safari also will not open??? Help??

I bought an iphone and synced it. When unplugging it, I realized all my apps I downloaded were gone off the iphone (I did find them in the itunes folder however) but the issue is, my Safari and my itunes program will NOT open. They bounce once and that is it, never opens. No errors, nothing. I have been going insane trying to figure out what the problem is. Anyone else have this issue?

    Hello, srg60.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your device is not recognized by iTunes, I would recommend the steps in the article below.  Start with the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

  • ITunes 7.5/7.6 will not open

I have been having the same problem as everyone else - iTunes will not open.
It started with 7.5, after upgrading a while back, it would not open. I tried everything that anyone had to suggest, and finally gave up. I tried reverting to 7.4, still didn't work. I wound up having to re-image my machine, and loading 7.4 just to get it to work.
Fast forward to now - 7.6 comes out. I go and read about it, ok it looks pretty kickass, decide to download it and have faith in Apple that they've fixed the issue.
    No beans.
I'm going through the same exact problem all over again. Install it, click it, nothing. Task manager claims it's running, but I see otherwise. I have tried EVERYTHING that I have read, uninstalling and reinstalling probably 5 or 6 times now. Still nothing. QuickTime works fine, but iTunes is being prude.
I do not have any virus detection software, Windows Firewall is off, and all Windows Updates are installed. I have uninstalled, blown out everything with Crap Cleaner and RegSeeker, and reinstalled several times. Everytime I get the same result.
My girlfriend got me a Touch for Christmas, and I love it to death, but it really blows ******** when I can't even use the software for the product. What's really sad, is that so far, it seems that Apple is turning the deaf ear to the issue even though many, many customers are seeing the same symptoms.
I'd really like to see this issue resolved.

    Hi!
    Same problem, desesperate, tryied everything.
It seems to be very common, how come Apple did not came with an answer yet??

  • Since two days ago iTunes 10.2.2.12 will not open

Since two days ago iTunes will not open (windows 7). No error message appears and after I try to open it my internet refuses to load anything forcing me to restart my computer. Anyone had this issue and know how to solve it?

Have you ever installed any kind of Codec pack? I did. And I noticed that one of the codec packs caused some problems with QuickTime.
If you did have installed free video Codecs. Try deinstall it and then reinstall iTune and QTime.
    Good luck!

  • After doing a suggested update of itunes on my pc it will not open and gives me a msg saying msvcr80.dll is not on my computer and windows error 126 has occured

After doing an update of itunes on my pc Itunes will no longer open and gives me a msg about MSVCR80.dll not on my computer and Itunes was installed incorrectly error 7 (windows error 126)

This happened to me today as well post installing the latest version of itunes.   I did a search on google for the error and came across a recommendation to :
Note: Start Windows in Safe Mode to complete any of the following steps if you're unable to access Windows normally due to the msvcr80.dll error.
If, and only if, you're receiving the msvcr80.dll is missing error when you open Apple iTunes, do the following: (skip this step if your msvcr80.dll error is occurring with a different program)
Uninstall from Windows the following five programs in this order: iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and finally Apple Application Support. If you have iCloud, remove it as well.
Uninstalling these programs in Windows is done from an applet in Control Panel called Programs & Features (in Windows 8, 7, or Vista) or Add or Remove Programs (in Windows XP).
Note: Songs and playlists in iTunes will not be removed when you uninstall the iTunes program or any of the other, already-mentioned Apple programs. If you'd still like to back them up, they're usually located in the My Music folder in Windows.
Download the latest version of iTunes from Appleand note the location you're saving it to so you can find it once it's done.
Run the iTunes installation as an administrator. If you're not sure how to do that, see How Do I Open an Elevated Command Prompt? for help. That procedure shows you how to open the Command Prompt program as an administrator, but the steps are essentially the same for anything, including the iTunes installation package you just downloaded.
A general overview of removing and reinstalling iTunes can also be found here on Apple's site but the above procedure seems to work better in this particular situation.

  • Itunes has stopped working and will not open

itunes stopped working for unknown reason and would not open. after several tries I used system restore taking it back to an earlier date.  when that failed to work, I uninstalled and downloaded new version, several times. still would not open and I am pretty sure I lost my library which is frustrating because I use it for work. completely confused about what to do next. I am running windows 7.

Not completely sure. But if you think it is an iTunes issue...... follow through this: Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
ALSO, if you feel like all your music will be gone as well follow through these 2:
    > Downloading past purchases from App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    > How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
IF YOU THINK ITS A COMPUTER ISSUE, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE DOING ALL THIS.
