ITUNES 7.7.1 Causing pc / mouse To Freeze
I like many people was having problems with ITUNES 7.7.1 As every time I tried to connect my ipod 80 gb 5th gen it was freezing my pc after 10 min. the only thing I could do is reboot my computer. I am now back to version 7.6 thanks to Azureus.
I am now rebuilding my whole library of pod casts and music again as it did not let me transfer from my ipod since it is a different version... thank goodness all my music is on cd's as a backup CD From ITUNES Although it will take a few hours.

Linux 3.13 - Kernel and Razer Mouse (Hard Freeze)
I upgraded to the new kernel 3.13.4-1 the other day and everytime I'd try to log into Xwindows the system from GDM, it would hard freeze. So I went about problem solving and couldn't find what was going on. I then upgraded to the 3.13.5-1 kernel thinking that might fix it. It did not. So I went rooting around for a couple hours. Then I realized that it only occured when I went to touch my mouse. So I switched to my Wacom tablet to see if I was right. And yep, it worked perfectly with the tablet. No Freezes.
So for anyone else having problems with the XWindows freezing constantly try switching to another pointer device (unlikely I know). Or you can do what I did and downgrade the kernel from 3.13 to the last 3.12 version which involves downgrading the headers, nvidia driver, and nvidia-utils if you have them. I am using the same mouse in 3.12 with no problems.
I couldn't find a bug report anywhere about it and I don't know what actually causes the mouse to freeze the system while the tablet doesn't.
By the way I use the Nvidia Proprietary driver for XWindows so that might be causing it too since it had to be downgraded... not sure... I can't get any logs from the hard freezez at all.
The 3.13 kernel also randomly decides to lose sync with my main harddrive and then go in a kernel panic on boot sometimes. Clearly it has a few bugs to work out. I'm gonna stick with 3.12 for a while.

Last edited by classdark (2014-02-24 03:27:45)I just experienced a similar problem after upgrading to 3.13. At first I thought this was an Intel driver bug (I'm using Bumblebee with Intel + NVIDIA drivers), but nothing showed up in the logs, and it did seem to happen when moving the mouse. I'll try downgrading as well.

My ipod touch 4g just updates today on itunes and the update caused more trouble than good for me. My ipod will no longer show me the battery percentage in the top right hand corner and I am not allowed to drag other applications to the bottom panel. Also my itunes doesn't allow "enable disk use" anymore. Can anyone help? My ipod now says that it's the 4.3.4 version
- Unjailbroken iPod never showed % battery. Just the icon.
- Unjailbroken iPod Touches never had a disk mode.
- What happens when you try to drag a wiggling app to a empty space in the bottom? Does it move and snap back? -
My itunes will not open cause it says itunes requires quicktume 7.5.5 or later but i have quicktime 7.2 installed already on my mac

ITunes 11.4 update cause issue with AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext
Along with many others iMac users, the iTunes 11.4 update cause a window that informs that the system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used.
Am on Snow Leopard and downloaded and installed the update to ITUNES yesterday - Itunes itself installed okay - but I did get the same system extension cannot be used.
I don't have any ethernet devices - so I checked the System/Library folder and the date on the file Is July 13, 2009.
My IPOD (probably now classic because of age) synced okay through USB port, and everything is working fine. As the update was to allow more devices to sync with ITUNES it may be the error message is not correct one.
Seriously - Apple needs to get out of Silicon valley - the message if correct is for techies - not for users who just want the software to update without problems. Lately Apple is preaching to their own choir.
I did send feedback through Itunes to Apple - -- If you are experiencing crashes after this update make sure you send the crash report to apple explaining that it is happening after this install -- also call or schedule a call with apple support -- -
Able to install the .ipa signed with distribution certificate using iTunes on MacBook Pro. where as the when tried to install using iTune on PC is causing a problem
The sound input going to the mic is not going to pipe through the speakers like that. It doesn't do it because it would cause a feedback loop on itself. The mic input will take sound and output it to a program or to another pathway (like a VoIP or Facetime call, etc.) but it won't behave like a Karaoke machine if that's what you're thinking.

Loading the latest OS on my Iphone 4 caused the phone to freeze and stop working. I get error message 4013 when trying to restore the phone.
Did you already try these suggestions?
Check USB connections
Related errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response,” and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

Macbook Pro Retina Mouse/Keyboard freeze
Hi there,
I have a 2013 macbook pro retina that's less than a month old. I have experienced a number of trackpad/mousepad freeze issues while using the computer. They occurred in close succession while using 10.93. I update to 10.94 and had not experienced the problem again since then(a week or more) but today it crashed. this is a big problem as i am a dj and use this laptop to play live gigs. I was hoping that you could help me isolate the problem. What happens is I will be working away and suddenly the mouse will freeze and the computer will become unresponsive, the keyboard doesn't work except for the power button.... also, the desktop background disappears upon forced restart.... any ideas? what may be causing this? Thanks in advance, RichardIf your machine is less than a month old, you should use your warranty and call AppleCare (you have 90 days of phone support) or take your machine back to the Apple Store (make an appointment with the Genius Bar first) and let them deal with the issue.
If yours is the 13" model, there is a thread on here (somewhere) about trackpad and keyboard failures when also using Bluetooth, I think (don't quote me on that - I don't have the affected machines so I don't follow the thread too closely).
But I do believe that Apple is aware of the issue and had 'fixed' it in either a patch preceding 10.9.4 or in 10.9.4 itself.
Give them a call...

Mouse constantly freezes (OS 9.2.2)
I just recently installed the patch update to OS 9.2.2. After the update I have had several problems, including webbrowser fonts which however was resolved.
I also have a major problem with my mouse (original) freezing constantly. It starts to lagg and a few minutes later it freezes. The only think I can do is to restart the computer. It works for a while and then it freezes again.
I'm suspecting it got something to do with some old extension having a conflict with the noew OS, but I haven't come to any conclusion.
I would appriciate any help I could get on this. thanks in advance.
iMac G3 Mac OS 9.2.xHi, Molok -
Actually, I had in mind the part about the slowdown of Finder functioning, caused by a soft conflict between the Iomega Driver extension and the Apple CD/DVD Driver extension.
I suspect, though, that the problem is as others have suggested - that the mouse itself is the culprit.
Apple Pro mouses have a known problem, where the wires inside the cable can fray at the point the cable leaves the mouse body. This results in random open and/or short circuits, causing bizarre cursor behavior. The best test is to try a different, known-good mouse.
Another possibility, one which I experienced, is that in some cases the unpowered hub in the keyboard can be overloaded by an attached device, such as an optical mouse. In my case the keyboard finally died. I replaced it, then came across this Apple KBase article -
Article #58649 - Apple Pro Keyboard: Devices Connected
That article led me to conclude that my mouse may have caused the keyboard to fail. I reconfigured my USB connection scheme such that the mouse is now connected to the powered hub in my monitor, and nothing is attached to the keyboard. No problems since, and that was 3 years ago. -
A dvd caused my screen to freeze black why would it do that?
a rental dvd caused my screen to freeze black & I had to shut down manually & restart. Why would it do that- is it the dvd player, dvd itself? Does my mimi need a tune up?
The first place I'd look is the DVD itself. Reboot holding the (left) mouse button down. That will eject the disc, and try another movie DVD. If that fails, how old is the Mac Mini?

I am a new iMAC user after many years on a PC. Quite often my mouse cursor freezes up on the screen and my only remedy seems to be to shut down and reboot. This can't be right! There must be a better solution. Can anyone out there assist me?
I've had the exact same problem ever since I upgraded to Leopard, and the successive updates, including the very latest 10.5.3, have not solved it! I am so disappointed. This is a severe bug. I used to be able to fix it by logging in and out, but today I had to shutdown and restart because my keyboard logout command was not getting through. I can't be sure about this, but it seems as though the problem occurs if I happen to be still be moving the mouse cursor and the logout sequence is engaged. It's as if moving the mouse cursor at this critical time is causing the system to have to keep track of it AT THE SAME TIME the system is trying to kill my user processes. The mouse cursor process ends up dead alright, all the way to the login screen! (Those who are familiar with how UNIX manages processes will understand what I'm talking about.) Please Apple, fix this. Please. This didn't use to happen in Tiger, so how does something like this get broken?

Infuriating persistent intermittent temporary mouse pointer freeze...
Hi all,
Adjective overload??
I have browsed these boards for years but have never had the urge to post until now.
Recently I have noticed every 15 seconds or so my mouse pointer freezes. I am unable to move it. At all. For maybe 0.25 of a second. Then all back to normal. It's driving me insane.
Everything else seems to carry on just fine...
- iTunes plays without a break in sound
- No noticeable interruption to frame rate if a game is playing
I have reset PRAM, repaired permissions, plugged mouse direct into Mac Pro instead of the keyboard, tried a different mouse. Same issue.
I keep my Mac Pro well maintained.
I am terrified I have some major hardware malfunction!
Any thoughts or suggestions? Has anyone here experienced anything similar?
Any pointers or suggestions welcomed.
Thanks

Message was edited by: osxwhipswindozeDid this start happening after installing a certain program, does it happen only while using certain programs or does it happen at all times? Have you tried deleting the preferences and logging out/restarting? What mouse are you using, and did you install the manufacturer's program (like for button programming)? I had issues with Logitech's LCC program (not a freezing problem, but very irritating none the less) that was solved after I removed LCC and put Steermouse in its place.

I have had a similar problem with a mouse and it turned out that the cord at the USB connection had became frayed inside and would cause the mouse to short and stop the system right in its tracks.
