ITunes 7.7 always asks to acccept incoming connections

Hey everyone,
I have noticed that as of installing iTunes 7.7 that every time I open iTunes it asks me if I want to accept or deny incoming connections from iTunes (as per my settings in the Firewall preferences). I somewhat expected this the first time I fired up 7.7 after updating, but even after clicking "Accept", it still asks me this every time. Most other programs that I accept are added to the list of allowed applications in the Firewall Preferences. Why is this? I have noticed that the Transmission bittorrent client sometimes acts like this as well, but not as consistently as iTunes 7.7 does.
Anyone else have this problem?

Well, I thought I had solved the problem with the reinstall of the OS, but the problem has come back. I've your tip, JohnTheMacGeek, and trashed the alf.plist file and restarted, but that has no effect. Doing this even multiple times, and going into Firewall prefs afterward and either manually putting the apps I want, like iTunes, or letting the Firewall ask to accept the incoming connections the first time. It still keeps asking to allow regardless. It seems to only occur with iTunes, but a couple of other apps have popped up a few times, but have since stopped I think. I'm on iTunes 7.7.1 at the moment.

  • ITunes always asks to allow incoming connections

I have the apple firewall turned on. iTunes is set in the firewall to allow incoming connections.
With iTunes Home Sharing turned on every time I start iTunes I am asked to allow incoming connections. I reply yes and the next time I restart iTunes I am asked the same question again.
If I turn iTunes Home Sharing off I am never asked about allowing incoming connections when I use iTunes.
Is there something else I should be doing? ( other than turning the firewall off )
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you are experiencing this problem on your Mac, follow these simple steps to get rid of the Allow or Deny popups:
    1. Go to the Applications folder and drag iTunes to the Trash. Don’t worry, your music, videos, and entire media library are not affected and will still be there. Only the iTunes software will be uninstalled (though it's always wise to have a backup, particularly of your iTunes Store purchases or anything else that would be difficult/expensive to replace).
    2. Reboot or log out of your Mac. This step may or may not be necessary, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.
    3. When you are logged back in, go to Apple’s website to download the latest version of iTunes if you haven't already..
    4. Install iTunes. Do not import any songs or videos if it prompts you to do so.
All of your media should be right where you left it the first time your fresh installation of iTunes is opened. If you get another firewall popup asking to Allow or Deny incoming network connections, make your choice and that should be the last time you see it. Future iTunes launches shouldn't pester you anymore.

  • System contiously asking to authorize incoming connections

For two applications in particular. I already tried to erase and add again those as exception into the firewall (in the PrefPane) but it didn't work.
I read somewhere that it could be due to some application signature problem...

OSX will ask to authorize incoming/outgoing connections when you have your firewall on. Check under System Preferences>Security>Firewall Tab. If the firewall is 'On' that would be the reason. Mine asks every time I run certain programs. Turning the firewall off will leave you open, but it will stop asking to authorize.

  • Keynote always asks to accept network connections-is there a remedy for this?

Every time I launch Keynote, it asks if I want to accept network connections--kinda annoying.
It is already set to allow all incoming connections but it still asks every time it's launched.
    Any remedy for this?

In Keynote Preferences> Remote Panel, if you have Enable iPhone and iPod touch Remotes option checked, you will get this warning when you start Keynote. Turning off the option stops the warning from appearing the next time you open Keynote. This is also true if you are using the Remote.app on an iPad to link to an OSX version of Keynote. With the option in OSX Keynote 09 turned off, you can't use a remote such as an iPhone or iPad to run your presentation, so it is your choice: have remote linking and get the warning or turn off the capability and get no warning.

  • ITunes Music Store always asking for password

I upgraded to iTunes 9, and now every time I open it, it asks for my account password. At first, it would say my password wasn't entered correctly. After several instances of that, I logged out of the store and then back in. It still asks for my password every time now, but the message doesn't indicate anything is wrong. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks.

I don't know if this is exactly what's happening to you, but it may be:
Apparently iTunes 9 sets cookies on your computer, and uses Safari to store them. So if you don't have cookies enabled in Safari (and you don't have any old iTunes cookies saved there), you can't sign in to the second level of the store (viewing your account or buying anything). If that's the case, set Safari to accept cookies and it should work (it did for me). It's possible (I've heard) that the latest version (4.0.3) of Safari is needed, but I'm not sure about that.
This is amazing to me - if you have cookies enabled, but SAFARI IS NOT OPEN, iTunes will still put cookies in Safari.
Note that this is on a Mac - on Windows it may use a different browser.

  • ITunes is always asking "Do you want itunes to accept incoming connection?"

Every times I open iTunes it's asking this ??

    Hi,
it's due to the firewall security settings:
    opens sys preferences
    go to security
    firewall
(authenticate by clicking the padlock at the bottom left corner)
    advanced
if you see iTunes in the list, choose "allow incoming connections"
if you do not see iTunes, click on the + choose iTunes from the list and choose "allow incoming      connections"
    that should do the job

  • Why does firewall constantly ask me to allow iTunes to receive incoming connections?

I enabled Firewall for my MacBook Pro 2012, running OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion, about two months ago.
Everything was working fine, until a few weeks ago, when I was experiencing problems with logging in to my Mac.
I tried booting up my Mac but it wouldn't boot.
Then, I tried Recovery mode and restored my Mac from a time machine back-up.
Everything worked fine, but since then my Mac has constantly asked me "allow incoming connection for iTunes".
How can I solve this prolem?
I've never had to allow connections for iTunes until after restoring my Mac from that Time Machine back-up.

Also, I recently installed Alfred, and purchased a power-pack license.
It installed an iTunes mini-player for me to have quick access to my songs.
It was only after installing Alfred that I started to have to allow connections for iTunes.

  • Firewall keeps prompting to allow incoming connections

    Hi,
This is, by far, Lion's most annoying new feature. Every time I open iTunes after startup, I get asked to allow incoming connections through the firewall. This behavior started happening after I made the mistake of upgrading to Lion. Removing itunes from the listed of allowed software does absolutely nothing, almost as if the program is just a blank field with no actual code running behind it. The excepetion gets added back to the firewall every time the Mac is restarted along with the prompt. iTunes' startup often hangs upon waiting for this prompt to appear and be answered.
Disabling the firewall is not an option, nor is reinstalling iTunes as it is the firewall which seems to be the problem. Rolling-back to 10.6.8 is also not a possibility at this time. I can't be the only one with this problem. Anyone else?

    Hi!
I re-enabled firewall just to see if it was solved on 10.7.3 and, as you said, no way. Everytime I startup my iMac, Firewall is prompting me to allow incoming connections for iTunes, but not for the rest of the other software I'm using, which I was asked for just once.
    Could you solve it?

  • E2000 won't allow Deluge bitTorrent incoming connections

I recently downloaded Deluge and while I can download torrents without a problem, I always have the "NO INCOMING CONNECTIONS' warning. I've tried single port forwarding, port range forwarding, turning UPnP off and on ... in short I've tried a lot of stuff and the only thing that clears the message is to remove the router out of the equation. The message disappears as soon as I connect the pc directly to the modem.
Anybody have and solve this problem??

You might as well use another bitTorrent protocol so that you will be able to isolate if the problem is really with the router or not. Another work around is to open ports 6881-6889 on your router and then uncheck “filter anonymous internet requests”  which can be found on the router’s security tab.

  • Keeps asking to accept incoming network connections for iTunes

Why does OS X keep asking if I want the new iTunes to accept incoming network connections on every iTunes launch?
    1. It appears in the firewall, and is green lighted to accept incoming network connections.
    2. I have the checkbox to automatically allow signed software to accept connections.
    3. I have repaired permissions.
    4. I have re-downloaded and reinstalled the application.
    5. I am running the latest version of OS X with all updates installed.
    This should not be happening.

I constanstly get the exact same nag message about allowing incomming connections, plus now iTunes just pops up all by itself, and I simply do not ever let anyone inside my firewall, period, including Apple, so they can spy on my info or software. The snooping scanel of the last couple of days has only underlined my decisions.
I have denied them access in security/advanced.  I have turned off connect to apple for for song info. No Ping.
I do however run DLNA across my wifi network using BubbleUp client so I can access my iTunes library via TiVo throughout the house, and have for the last year with no issues.
(During this message, itunes has launched, nagged and started playing music all by itself 3 times!)
I tried a terminal command from another thread http://nerdramblings.tumblr.com/post/5637291886/fix-apple-firewall-asking-for-pe rmissions, which should have given me

You buy one and only one download.
It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
Certainly you did not update your ipod without making sure that you had transferred anything purchased on the ipod to your computer and included it in your regular backup copy of your computer.

    Looks like you have a 3G not a 3Gs...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...
If an Update Appears Install it... if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...
iPhone 3G can only go to iOS 4.2.1
