ITunes 7&8 will only start once per install on Vista 64-bit.

This problem has been going on for quite awhile (but not always). iTunes works great immediately after install and will play and run forever until closed. Once closed iTunes no longer will start (even after restarting computer) until completely uninstalled and re-installed. Repairing does not fix it. This happens with iTunes 7 and the newly released 8.

I've tried that several times now. It's a brand new computer, never had iTunes on it before, and I get the same issue. I even used restore discs to restore the computer. I tried running the install program straight from the web site, downloading the program and running it from my hard drive... I'm fresh out of ideas. I just keep getting the same "errors were encountered during installation" generic message.

Dreamweaver CS4 on Win7x64 only starts once per session

Hello.
I use DW only occasionally so I didn't notice that whenever I exit DW I am unable to restart it during the same windows session. If I try to open it a second time, nothing happens. However, if I log off as a windows user and then log back in, I can run DW again (but only once).
Does anyone else have this problem on windows 7 64 bit ? Is there a work around ?
If it matters, my version is 10.0 build 4117.

Ok. While trolling thru other posts, someone asked about using different compatibility settings.
So, ..... I right clicked my desktop icon to start Dreamweaver and selected Troubleshoot compatibility.
During the windows wizard that runs, I eventually established the successful compatibility settings "Compatibility mode: Windows Vista Service Pack 2" and "User Account Control: run as Administrator".
After saving these settings, I am now able to run DW multiple times without any problems.
I will be interested to see if I do not experience the other Windows 7 problems I see in the forum postings.
Compatibility settings may be a way to avoid these issues.

Firefox will only open once per login

This started acting up i think around when i updated firefox when i was opening it. It only allows me to have one firefox window open. The tabs work find but i can't move tags to new windows, can't get on chat sites cause they require another window to open and i have to restart my computer if i close firefox window. I've cleared the cookies on here but doesn't seem to help.

You can make a copy of the Firefox desktop shortcut and open the Properties of that shortcut via the right-click context menu.
You can add a space and the "-new-window about:blank" text without quotes to the current command (target) line to open the about:blank in a new window if you use that desktop shortcut to launch Firefox.
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

ITunes and Quicktime will not start on new PC using Vista

Hi everyone,
I just bought a new PC using Vista "Home Premium" edition. No previous version of iTunes on PC. I downladed iTunes 7.6. When I try to start iTunes Windows error msg says "iTunes has stopped working check on-line for a solution and close the program". When I click on the link provided it just brings me back to the same page where I already downloaded iTunes 7.6! When I try to start Quicktime I get the same error msg.
Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

What ended up happening for me was that it was a user-specific problem. For that, just follow these steps (taken from the above article):
Remove iTunes Plug-ins
third-party iTunes plug-ins can cause many issues, particularly if the plug-in has not been updated to be compatible with new versions of iTunes. iTunes plug-ins are located in the following location:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins
Remove iTunes Preference files
Some of the files that iTunes uses to store settings and preferences may be corrupt and cause issues. iTunes has two folders where preferences are saved. Move one of them to the desktop and test to see if the issue persists. If it does, move it back and remove the second folder. The location for the two preference folders are:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes

i think i need some help! i've had problems mainly due to my own studipity! i installed the standalone quicktime and that sort of helped. but now itunes will only open once if i close it down and try to open it again it wont open. i have to restart my pc. i also have to acept to the terms and conditons when it opens.
i also havent been able to access the music store today not sure if its just me or itunes is having trouble.
i'd really appricate any help

we're still not done yet.
actually, the odd thing about your case is not so much that you aren't able to open itunes again ... it's that you can open it again after you restart the PC.
so let's try an experiment.
get itunes running again. while it's running, launch your Task Manager, and go to the processes Tab.
you should see an "itunes.exe" process in there.
now close itunes down.
does the itunes.exe process persist in Task Manager sfter you shut itunes down?
if it does persist, try shutting that process down in Task Manager.
if you can do that, are you then able to launch itunes again (without shutting your PC down first)?

Instead of getting annoyed, read the User's Guide and try basic troubleshooting.

I downloaded the lates version of iTunes. Now, every icon on my desktop now is the iTunes icon and will only launch iTunes. The same is true with almost everything in "All Programs" from my start menu. Uninstalling brought desktop back to normal.

After upgrading to the latest version of iTunes, it changed all desktop icons to the iTunes icon and will only launch iTunes. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and the same problem occured. Help.

Yes i've tried all of that. I've turned it all the way on and off and erased all of my music and put it back on and nothing works. And with the breaking up CDs and putting into compilation categories i have already fixed all of that stuff. It's fine it just doesn't show up in the list of artists. I can find the album in the songs category and the albums category it's just it doesn't show tha name of the artist. All of the other albums that i downloaded before i updated my itunes to th most recent update are fine. It's just the two that i downloaded afterwards. Thanks for trying though.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

My iPod Classic (older version) will only start up but as soon as it starts up it turns itself off again and it makes quite a loud clicking sound when it turns itself off, I have had it plugged in for quite a while and in the first 30 minutes of having it plugged in it said very low battery but then turned itself off, I have tried resetting it with the menu and the middle button and I can't connect it the computer that it has been synced with either, I really need my iPod and I really don't know what to do to fix it, is it the battery or the cable or something small like that? I'm not sure whether it is charging from the wall socket either.

If it it says turn off FIndMyiPhone then:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

IPhone 5 will only charge once dead

Hey everyone, I've got an issue that I can't seem to find any forum posts about anywhere.
My iPhone 5 will only charge once it is completely dead. If it is not, I get a message displaying "This accessory is not supported by this device," (or something along those lines), or nothing happens at all. Once it is completely dead, I can charge it, but if I take the charger out before it's fully charged it won't begin to charge again until it's dead. Even if I turn the phone off and charge it, it does not charge while off unless dead.
What I've already tried:
- Different chargers (5 of them, 3 different charger blocks, and charging from my laptop, both Apple and third party)
- Resetting all settings to factory default
- Going to the Apple Store. They would not touch my phone because I replaced my own screen with a non-Apple piece
Any ideas?? Please help.
NOTE: I cannot update to the newest iOS as I cannot connect to iTunes until this problem is fixed.

Actually I added user names to the apex_access_control table and assigned each user the desired privilege but did not notice that I should do the following setting.
*Access Control Administration > [RUN] > Set Application Mode: Restricted access.*

I use firefox 3.6.13 parallel to firefox 4 beta 8. Beta 8 will only start in safemodus, not in the normal form. In former time, beta 7 starts without any problem

I have firefox 3.6.13 and 4.0b8.
Beta is installed by default in a different location. I have also set it up with its own profile. I have not noticed problems. I am assuming the compatibility checker worked as it set itself up without firebug, as that was not compatible, I later installed a firebug alpha for the firefox beta.

I assume there is more than ample space remaining on your iPod to hold all the videos? Are you getting any error messages during the sync process?
Do all of these videos play okay in iTunes? Is the sync only checked songs and videos option enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab?
What other setting do you have enabled from under the iPod's video configuration tab in iTunes?
