ITunes 7 and 6.5 crash on startup

Hi there,
I'm gonna try to explain correctly the issue I experimented with iTunes 7 AND 6.5.
I used for months iTunes 6 with my iPod 5G first version. Then, I upgraded iTunes to ver. 7 and all my problems began. First of all, the iPod firmware upgrade to 1.2 gave me great issues on iPod's stability (it reboots so often).
Then, yesterday I closed iTunes 7 as everyday and went to sleep. Today, I started up my pc and tried to launch iTunes 7, but a crash occurred, just a second after I launched it (absolutely no iTunes window showed up).
So, I tried all these ways to fix the issue, but no one worked:
- Tried to uninstall iTunes 7 and delete preferences files and also dirs like "iTunes" and all the "Apple" directories under "Application data" and "Local settings" directories;
- Tried to reinstall iTunes 7 after a reboot, but the same crash occurred;
- I then had a try with iTunes 6.5 instead of ver. 7, but got the same crash;
- I checked my pc with AVG antivirus and Ewido anti-spyware, and no viruses or any other threat was found;
- Unistalled iTunes 6.5 again and;
- I removed all the entries regarding "Apple" or "iTunes" from my registry with Regedit;
- At this point, I tried to reinstall iTunes 6.5, but the same crash occurred.
In addition, everytime I get the crash, a "crash report" it's shown with a LOT of text that I cannot highlight to copy&paste here. If someone know how to do that, please write it down, because I think that it would be useful for expert people to check it out.
PLEASE HELP ME: I ran out of solutions...
Francesco
P.s.: Sorry for my horrible english.
iPod video 5G first version Windows XP

Just in case someone else experiments this kind of problem, and with no help from anyone, I solved the issue by myself in a "brutal" way: I had to format my pc.
Thanks, Apple.

  • Mail, Safari, Software Update and Yahoo Messenger crash on startup in 10.4.

    I'm running a G4 Dual 1 Ghz with 1.5 Ram on 10.4.9 and Mail, Safari, iPhoto, Software Update and Yahoo Messenger crash on startup. Pro Tools (which is why I remain on 10.4.9) Firefox (which is how I can communicate now) and iTunes work fine.
    iPhoto crashed and never started again back when I was on Panther. However, all the others started crashing on startup shortly after I upgraded from 10.4 to 10.4.9.
    I have run Disk Utility to verify disk and repair permissions. With the exception of iPhoto, it seems that the others crash when it starts to stream from the Internet.
    Any ideas?

    My assumption on things such as Mail and Safari is that once I upgraded the system those applications would upgrade as well. As to Yahoo Messenger, I downloaded the proper version and reinstalled, but it crashes as well.
    Seems to be something when it's about to connect to the Internet--with the exception of Firefox, which is why I can post now.

    PS -- I'd consider the 10411 combo update, but Digidesign only supports Pro Tools 7.4 up to 10.4.9. That said, many people use it with 10.4.11 and I'll definitely try the 10.4.11 upgrade before I try an entire system reinstall.

    Hi there and Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Ok, so, do me a favour, open up Quicktime and see if that opens up ok. If it does, fine, if not, what does it do and are there any error messages involved?
    You may want to work thru some steps outlined here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
    Does this help out at all?
    Try reading this one also:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302386
    I would also scan for viruses and spyware as these have been known to cause this errorless crash and burn of iTunes.
    Keep updated on your progress and if you have any questions.
    Good Luck, got my fingers crossed for ya.

  • After restore, itunes and app store crash on launching

    I just restored my OS (latest 3.2) due to some problems. Now itunes and app store crash a few seconds after launching. If I'm not connected to internet then they don't crash (but of course they are useless)

    What was the problem that caused you to restore? Maybe there is some corruption that is in the backup that is causing the problem. I would try restoring to as-new condition to see if the iPad works all right in that configuration and then determine how to proceed.

    okay not sure how this works so here i go again.
    Okay i bought a dell pc with windows 8 (big mistake) i downloaded itunes and from my external hard drive, right clicked a movie file (in ipad format, because this worked in vista on my old laptop) and it will not go into itunes. And itunes keeps crashing. Is there a glitch with win 8 and itunes ? I never had this prob with vista. I would right click a file and say open with itunes and poof it goes in the library. Please help before i throw this thing out the window! OH newest itunes is what i have installed.

    Take a look at this MBP, a refurbished unit.  Don't let the late 2011 release date put you off.  For about  $500 less than an equivalent 'new' one with similar specifications you get a quad core CPU and excellent graphics.  As Steve359 mentioned, this can be upgraded if the need arises and has the same warranty as a 'new' one
    I would not be surprised that these may actually be 'new' MBPs due to the length of time that they have been replaced by the current generation.  I purchased a 17" model about 5 weeks ago, and a serial number check suggests that it is 9 weeks old.

    Yes! I beleive this is a bug in the Installer where it leaves ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 8.0 marked read-only, and then InDesign crashes early in the startup process (in the "AdobeBIB" component) when it tries to write its preferences and it fails to do so.
    This is a longstanding bug and nobody understands why the installer messes it up.
    So the answer is to either trash the above folder, or to hit Cmd-I (File Info) on it in the Finder and make sure it is set to read-write under Sharing and Permissions.
    I just got done complaining a lot about this to Adobe, actually, last night. Bugs 3478250, 3478260, 3478263, 3478267, and 3424687.
    (Of course, I might be wrong and it could be somethign totally different).
    If the above doesn't work, try a new user account on your machine.
    Oh, and also, you'll need to hit Cmd-Shift-G in the Finder and type in ~/Library to get to the hidden library folder (though there are other ways).

  • App Store, Safari, iTunes and FaceTime keep crashing?

    The following apply to the App Store, Safari and iTunes:
    I can click on the icons for these and they'll start to load, and then just crash. They just close themselves out.
    Facetime:
    I can call someone, and the second they accept, Facetime crashes. Closes itself out.
    Someone can call me, I accept, and it'll cancel out in a few minutes.
    All of this started last night. I have no idea what was going on. I didn't restore it yet, because I don't wanna mess anything up.
    Please help.

    - First try a reset. nothing is lost.
    Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next restor from backup
    - Last, restore to factory defaults/new iPod

  • CC logging off and applications are crashing on startup

    Hi All,
    I'm getting some strange behavior from my Creative Cloud as of a few hours ago.
    It started when I had both Photoshop CC and Illustrator CC running.  Adobe CC logged out suddenly and would not keep the user logged in for more than 15 minutes at a time.
    Around that same period Illustrator crashed and then refused to start back up.  I get a "Unexpected Error" window when the splash screen reads "Installing plugins: vectorizeUI.zip".  InDesign also crashes on startup.  Photoshop seems to be starting normally.
    I reinstalled both InDesign and Illustrator hoping that it would solve my issues.  No luck.
    I am running on WIndows 8, my video card drivers are up to date.
    GPU: GeForce GT 440
    CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
    Memory: 16 GB RAM (15.94 GB usable)
    Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro
    Any idea what's going on here?

    It appears that InDesign is crashing at the "Starting up Panels..." dialog at the splash screen.

  • After Effects and Photoshop suddenly crashes on startup

    Hi,
    I have a licenced version of Creative Suite CS5.5 and working on Windows 7
    Yesterday I worked with Photoshop and After effects, ans ome things in illustrator as well. Everything worked well, I closed the programs for the day, and turned off the computer.
    To day, when starting again, AE wont start, it crashes on startup, leaving me error messages
    3468 <dynamic link><5> 000000001BA93B80
    (with different numbers every time)
    At the same time Photoshop Extended also has the same issues - crashes on startup, regardles if I start 32 bit or 64 bit version. PS does not give any error messages, it is just a message from Windows telling that it has stopped working. Tjis always happens at "Initializing menus..."
    I have not downloaded anything since yesterday or done any changes to the computer. I have now uninstalled PS and AE, and retarted the computer and then installed again. Excatly the same thing happens...
    Any idea what this can be caused of?
    Reagrds,
    Håkan
    ADDED:
    I have now uninstalled the whole suite, then restarted the computer, installed the suite again - same result. So strangem since it worked before, and I just did not do anything wuíth the computer... Other programs in the Suite is working.

    You have an issue with your graphics card driver. Update it and configure it properly.

  • Agenda / calendar and front camera crash at startup

    Hey all,
    After update today the calendar app crashes on startup. Also the front camera isn't working anymore, while switching it crashes....
    Hope someone can help out!
    Gr, Mark
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Have you installed any 3:rd party calendar app? If so, try removing it and see if that helps.
    If not, try clearing data for the app called "Calendar" under Settings -> Apps -> All.
    If you still have the same problem after trying this you can try clearing data for the app called "Calendar Storage" but please note that this will delete all events stored in the phones calendar. It will not delete anything on your synchronized calendars like Google or ActiveSync.

    I have had this issue for several weeks now. I am unsure as to what has caused it as it randomly began occurring around mid May. I have tried the solutions located on these support links:

    -http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717

    So far nothing has worked. Any and all suggestions/help is appreciated.
    Jake.

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
