ITUNES 7 BUG NO ARTWORK IN IPOD

NO ARTWORK TRANSFERED TO UPDATED 5TH GEN IPOD = I updated to iTunes 7 twice (first time it erased my purchased item authorization). For second install I successfully updated the iPod firmware. PROBLEM now is it will not transfer the song artwork.
TRIED THESE (and I repair computers by the way)-
Resetting iPod device...twice...no luck.
Unchecking the option to install artwork into iPod, letting it delete artwork...then rechecking it to reboot this feature...no luck.
DO NOT ASK ME TO RESTORE FIRMWARE, there is nothing wrong with the iTunes 7 updated firmware.
NOW I HAVE AN IPOD 30GB 5TH GEN PLAYER WITH NO ARTWORK TO DISPLAY. NO, APPLE PRODUCTS ARE NOT FLAWLESS AS THEY CLAIM IT TO BE.

Yup. It's a glitch for sure. But it doesn't have any ryme or reason. About 70% of all my album art will not display on my Ipod. But all the album artwork is there. When I plug my Ipod into Itunes and play songs, all the album art that I installed shows up in the picture box. But when i unplug the Ipod, no album art is displayed.
All music I have imported recently with album art shows up on my Ipod. But not all the album art that is already there.
So what I am doing is copying all my music from my Ipod onto my computer,
from there I am putting it onto Itunes,
allow Itunes to search for artwork that I did not do already (over 200 albums)
Then delete the music from my Ipod,
and finally reimport my Itunes Library back to my Ipod.
I have over 30 GB used so far (I have the 60 GB Ipod) so I do not keep all my music in my Itunes library. If I did, all I would have to do is re-sync the Ipod to my Itunes.

  • IPod to iTunes copy with Artwork

I've been reading other discussions on how to copy a music library from an iPod to iTunes. Can anybody recommend a program to use to this that will also copy the artwork as well? Thanks.

hello am not sure about artwok on the coverflow itunes
I have transfered my libray to and from my ipod using a package called touchcopy only once due to technical hitches in synch since fixed apple can only provide transfer to purchased tracks but not anthing added on cd which is a shame but can see why and how this could infringe copyright
think this package took every file on ipod in minutes then tranferred them to computer then easily impored manually by folder or direct into itunes but the artwork issue can be random some times it comes up sometimes it doesnt, like the other post said it seems to be embedded within the track when saved from net image source like I have did as when trying get artwork doesnt always work or brings down a random image that will not shift at all which is annoying

  • First sync to iPod Touch w/ new iTunes v11.0.0 on Windows 7 PRO has no album artwork on iPod.  Why?

First sync to iPod Touch w/ new iTunes v11.0.0 on Windows 7 PRO has no album artwork on iPod.  Why?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • ITunes displays new Album Artwork but wont transfer all artwork to iPod?

I have manually updated my iTunes library to show the new full resolution album artwork, but after updating my iPod almost half of the images didn't transfer to iPod?

If itunes decides that the ipod can't play a vid it won't send it. The ipod won't necessarily play every mp4 video, the specs are:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
Try right clicking on one of the bad vids in itunes and select "Convert to ipod format" - this should make it ipod compatible.

  • Artwork on IPOD not what's on ITUNES

I have album covers for most of my songs. In Itunes everything is correct. The IPOD has them all mixed up.
Any suggestions other then resetting the thing and starting over?

If your ITunes is updated and your IPod is plugged in, highlight your IPod name in ITunes and under the "Music Tab" there is an option to show album artwork. I hope this helps.

  • ITunes 10, album artwork won't show on ipod 'selected item'

The songs on my computer display album artwork fine, but on my iPod (Classic) it only displays the 'Now Playing' artwork. If I set it to show 'Selected Item' it will only show the artwork of the song playing, if it's selected. It won't show album artwork of any other songs that I select, instead it shows the 'Drag Artwork Here' image, even when the songs already have artwork.
The artwork shows up fine when I'm playing songs on my ipod, or if I click 'Get Info', but it just won't show up in the side bar. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling iTunes and it didn't make a difference. I can't restore my ipod to factory settings because a lot of the music I have isn't backed up. Is there anything I can do?

Strangely I was able to find help myself. I checked one box under the settings that said something like "show album artwork". Strange because it was unchecked before, I had never checked it myself and previously all the artwork was visible properly...
When I clicked that checkbox, to my horror iTunes said something to the effect of "Deleting artwork from 'iPod'". After that it went for a long time into a "Optimizing artwork for 'iPod'" and after that wait all the artwork is shown properly. I wonder what that did...?

  • ITunes 7.3 artwork bug

Just upgraded iTunes to 7.3 and have a problem with new albums i add -- in coverflow it seems to randomly list some new albums multiple times (with multiple covers next to each other). i have checked to make sure all the tabs under 'info' are identical .. it's not as though one has 'album artist' listed and one does not.
anyone else having this problem? this has happened now to about 3 of the 6 albums i've added since upgrading.

When I installed iTunes 7.3 I noticed some artwork
was gone. I compared the actual file sizes to the
backup and there was no change at all. I was able to
get the covers again from the iTS, but as I really
want to have the artwork inside the files, I tried to
paste it into the tags (like I used to do since 7.0).
That doesn't work, after pasting it, the artwork is
gone again completely, but the files are now 4mb
bigger. The artwork of these files (about 300 in
total, and I cant figure out why some and some not)
can not be browsed, but the rest of the tags is fine
and the songs play just normal.
I trashed one of the affected albums and re-added it
from the backup. Now the tags in iTunes were gone
completely! I re-entered the correct tags and let
iTunes get the artwork from the iTS. The artwork
shows, but not for all files of the album. So again I
tried to paste it into the tags of all songs, and
voila: all artwork of this album is gone again and
    the files are 4mb bigger.
    Same behaviour in iTunes 7.3.1.
I'm happy I have a good backup of my music, and I
think the artwork is still inside the files, but
iTunes 7.3 and 7.3.1 mess it up. From what I see only
non-iTS files are affected, but only iTS artwork is
    lost. NOT nice.
Any ideas? I'm no really a friend of downgrading...
After some more time consuming tinkering I still have no luck in giving certain files their artwork back. I better go back to 7.2 tomorrow... Apple keep that lousy 7.3.1 BS yourself

  • ITunes will not sync with ipod when music is not on C drive in Windows 7

For years I have used various versions of windows and itunes, always having my data on a different drive that the system with no issues. I am currently using Windows 7 RC1 and generally finding it far better than Vista.
My problem is that although iTunes works fine as an installation (downloading songs, ripping CD’s etc), however when I try to sync either of my iPods they get ejected before the sync can take place.
iTunes and windows recognise the devices before the device tells me it can be disconnected so the intial communication is ok.
Having done the usual research there are other people with the same issue, and it seems to be specifically to do with the fact that the data is not on the same drive as the OS. I have confirmed this myself as I have a second machine that is also running Windows 7 RC1 but that only uses a single drive/partition, and this machine and install of itunes will sync with both ipods with no issue. Likewise a different vista machine has no problem syncing with the ipods.
So can anyone help solve this problem without having to move the music folder to the C drive?
I appreciate windows 7 is not officially released yet and that an official windows 7 compatible version of iTunes will probably fix the issue, so please add this to the list of bugs if I have to wait for the official release.
    Thanks

  • Computer AND iTunes don't recognize my iPod touch.  Comp thinks it is a camera.  iTunes won't bring up devices at all.  I've already uninstalled iTunes and QT and reinstalled after problem that happened when I updated iTunes... getting beyond P/Oed!!!

Computer AND iTunes don't recognize my iPod touch.  Comp thinks it is a camera or something.  iTunes won't bring up devices at all.  I've already uninstalled iTunes and QT and reinstalled after problem that happened when I updated iTunes - updated iTunes completely demolished my computer's ability to recognize the sound card and computer had NO sound at all.  I had to uninstall iTunes, QT, AND my sound card and reinstall them all.  Sound worked fine, but now I can't sync my iPod.  Computer recognizes that "something" is hooked up (thinks it might possibly be a camera) and I get that "open with" window.  In "my computer" it shows that there is an "iPod" connected, but it is pictured as a camera.  In iTunes my username is no longer appearing (although account info is there) and NO devices whatsoever get listed.  There is nothing wrong with my USB ports or cable.  And of course Apple won't help anyone unless you pay them to. ... I am getting beyond P/Oed!!!  You pay hundreds for a product and all you get are headaches with their stupid bug infested software and no support at all.
Can anyone out there help me clean up this unbelievable mess Apple and iTunes has created in my computer?
    Thank you.
    Evie

After three completely wasted days trying to figure all of this out I finally got it fixed - on my own - by reading dozens and dozens of rogue posts in indie forums from people that refuse to dish out money to have a company TRY and advise possible fixes on their own glitches.
(here's a novel idea - fix the glitches Apple.  Or - don't send out updates filled with bugs in the first place)
Everything (several applications) had to be uninstalled in a very specific order and then restarted , then it all had to be verified with manual deletions of leftovers, and emptying the recycle bin, then another restart, then iT had to be reinstalled again and the system restarted again, and two more update downloads. Holy!!!
I love my little iPod touch, but I honestly must say, when this kind of thing happens (and it has several times now when I try to deal with iTunes or Apple), it makes me want to flush it down the toilet.

  • Ripped 20 CD's into iTunes, syncs with phone and iPod, but not iPad

So, maybe sync isn't the right word. All three devices will sync, but the songs ripped from CDs only appear onmy iPhone 5 and my iPod touch, but not on the Ipad. I have recently purchased songs from iTunes, and they do appear on the iPad. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks for any help. Oh, btw, I have the newest iPad, right before they went to the Lightning connector

    For iTunes Help
Add artwork to songs and other items
Music and video you buy from the iTunes Store comes with its own artwork. You can add your own artwork to songs and other items in your library.
You can add many popular types of still image files, including JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, and Photoshop. You must convert WAV files to another format before you can add artwork to them.
Album artwork for the currently playing item appears to the left of the progress bar. To view album artwork at a larger size in a separate window, click the artwork.
    Hide
Add artwork to music and video
    Do any of the following:
Add artwork to one item at a time:
Select an item in your iTunes library and choose File > Get Info.
Click Artwork and do one of the following:
Click Add, select an image file, and click Open.
Drag the art file to the artwork area.
To add artwork to another item, click Next or Previous.
Add the same artwork to multiple items: Select the items, choose File > Get Info, click Info, and drag an image file to the Artwork area.
Retrieve album artwork for songs in your library from the iTunes Store: Control-click the songs and choose Get Album Artwork from the pop-up menu.

  • Can't sync album artwork to ipod touch and music is on many different computers that I can't always get to easily.

Okay, so, I upgraded my iPod touch to iOS5. When I did that, I got everything back, but I'm missing a ton of album artwork and some of my music has the wrong artwork from completely different artists that I already had on my iPod. For example, I have some albums by the band Lacuna Coil. The album cover for the album Comalies is being shown as the album cover for my Marilyn Manson albums and my Combichrist albums. That's not the only album cover that's being repeated on different artists though. But also, a bunch of my album artwork just isn't there at all, period. It's gone. Now, before I got the iOS5 update, I would just hook my iPod up to iTunes, click on "Mollenstein's iPod" and click on "music" so I could just add the album artwork straight to the iPod because a lot of my music is not on the same computer, so it was just easier to do it that way. After this completely stupid iOS5 update, I can't do that. It will say it's syncing when I try to do it, but it will list off songs that it is updating that aren't even on the album I was trying to put the album artwork on. The album art for those songs didn't change, but neither did the one I was trying to change. About 2000+ of my songs are on my old PC that is a fossil and is slower than a fossil and it would take me hours and hours and hours and hours to fix the album artwork on it because it has an extremely old version of iTunes, so I can't hook my iPod directly to it (the fossil computer does not have access to the internet, so I can't update the iTunes). Therefore, I will have to get a flash drive, transfer music 2 gigs at a time to a different computer, fix the album covers, then sync to my iPod. I guess I can do that if I absolutely have to, but I was wondering if there was an easier way to do that or if I'm supposed to be able to sync album art directly to my iPod and the update is just making it completely ********. Please help, I'm frustrated, and I am too busy to have to mess with crap like this.I'm about to just go back to collecting CD's.

  • How do I copy artwork to iPod just once for an album, not for every track?

I don't download music. All my music is ripped from CDs that I own.
After I rip a CD, choosing "Get Album Artwork" from the Advanced menu normally works, and if not, I find the highest quality image I can from the web, and copy & paste that into the large box at the bottom left of iTunes.
It appears that iTunes stores the artwork image once for each track, not once for an album, so for example if an album has 10 tracks, the image is stored 10 times somewhere on my hard drive. This is inefficient, but not problematic.
However, when I (manually) select & drag-copy the resulting 10 tracks to my iPod, the artwork doesn't transfer along with the tracks. I then have to copy the artwork & having selected all the tracks on the iPod, paste it in. I have the "Manually manage music and videos" option selected, as I simply don't trust the automatic system. I want to supervise what is copied, when, and in what way. I don't necessarily want everything in my iTunes library on my iPod.
What concerns me is that for each album, the artwork image is stored repeatedly for each track on the iPod, like on my hard drive, not once for an album. As space will be at a premium on the iPod once I start copying more & more of my CDs across (I have only done 9 so far) the point will come where a large number of MB of space will be wasted on the iPod with duplicate artwork, which will mean that I'll be able to fit far fewer CDs on the iPod than would otherwise have been the case. The fact that I have chosen 192 kbps and the AAC Encoder for all my CD ripping also means that the iPod will fill up faster than if I'd used the standard 128 kbps and MP3 settings. I'm not prepared to go below 192 kbps though. My soon to be purchased Sennheiser CX500 earphones deserve that much!
Is there any way to force iTunes and the iPod to store the artwork only once for each album, and if there is, can this method be retrofitted to the CDs I've already copied to my iPod, or do I have to start again from scratch? I've already filled 670 MB with the 9 CDs, many of which are only 40 or 45 minutes long, so I'm already getting worried!
Alternatively, am I simply mistaken about all this? Does it only *look like* the artwork is duplicated, whereas it's actually only being stored only once?
    Many thanks.

    In reply to PT:
Why don't you paste the artwork to the track in iTunes first (fast) THEN send them over to your iPod?
I already do that. Every track has the correct artwork in place before I copy it to the iPod.
I ripped about another 10 albums yesterday. Most of the albums got their artwork automatically from the iTunes store. For a few I had to get artwork from the internet.
When I rip a CD, one of 3 different things happens:
    1. The album get its artwork automatically from the iTunes store, and then when I shift-click all the tracks and drag them to the iPod icon, all the artwork transfers along with the tracks.
    2. As per 1, except the artwork doesn't transfer when I copy the tracks to the iPod. I then copy the artwork from one of the tracks on the Mac, then shift-click all the equivalent tracks on the iPod, and right-click in the large box at the bottom left of the screen, and click on paste.
    3. The iTunes store has no artwork for the album, so I copy the artwork from an image on the internet, shift-click all the tracks on the Mac, and right-click in the large box at the bottom left of the screen, and click on paste. I then shift-click all the tracks and drag them to the iPod icon. They all copy across, but the artwork never does, so I then shift-click all the tracks on the iPod and right-click in the large box at the bottom left of the screen, and click on paste.
Pasting the artwork to the tracks, in either scenario 2 or 3 above, takes ages (often longer than copying the tracks themselves) and a progress bar appears, listing each track in order as the artwork is added to the track, accompanied by the spinning beach ball. The slowness is mostly down to using USB 1.1, but for a 20 track album, it appears that the iPod is storing the artwork 20 times, once for each track, not just once in total (for the album).
It appears that in scenario 1 though, the iPod is only storing the artwork once.
    In reply to Landon Dial:
well first you go to one track, right click and press get info. you go to where it says artwork, right click the image and press copy, then you exiit out of that. then you can press ctrl and select each song you want to have that artwork. if there highlighted then its working. then right click again and press get info. then go to artwork and press paste and it should have copied the image to all of your tracks
Thanks for your input, but you've completely misunderstood my question. I know how to add artwork to tracks. What I'm trying to figure out is how to force iTunes/the iPod to only store artwork once for each album, not once for each track, even if the artwork comes manually from me finding it on the internet, not automatically via the iTunes store.
    In reply to Chris CA:
When iTunes gets the artwork, there is only one copy on your computer.
That single artwork is linked with iTunes to each song on the same album.
When you add artwork yourself, it is copied directly into the ID3 artwork tag for each song. If you have a 200kB artwork file, each song will be 200kB larger.
From what you say it sounds like there's no way to force the issue then. If you have to paste in artwork yourself, then it's one copy per track, not one per album. A serious flaw which I hope Apple will address!
Using playlists is very easy to manage what goes onto your iPod.
That's true, but I don't really have any need for playlists. I want 95% of what's in my iTunes library copied across (complete albums, with artwork). It's the remaining 5% (the odd individual track, amusing audio files, and other odds & sods) that I don't want copied. Copying things manually suits me fine, and I wouldn't consider another method unless it solved the problem that this topic is about!

  • Error -50 when trying to display artwork on ipod 5th gen

I had this problem recently where the artwork went all wierd and wrong album covers were showing, so I thought that I'd remove all artwork using itunes (version 7.0.2.16) update the ipod, remove ipod, reset it, reconnect it and then update again with display artwork checked. It seemed like a good idea at the time but wasn't! Now all the artwork has been removed and when I try to apply 'display artwork on ipod' I get the following error message:
"ipod can't be updated. an unknown error occurred (-50)"
In short, I am now left with no artwork and can't seem to get any of it back onto my ipod despite the fact that it is all correctly atached to the tracks id and dispays ok in itunes.
Any ideas would be gratefully received...

Does anyone have a better solution? I am having this same error, and I really don't want to re-encode anything on my originals. I've done that in the past and I was unhappy with the resulting media in an ABX test. Why does iTunes have to be so picky. One of the songs is in my top 10 favorite that I listen to all the time, and as such I KNOW the song displays no obvious corruptions. AAC is the devil.

  • ITunes doesnt work with my iPod!!! Help please!

ok...i have tried to plug my iPod into my computer lately, and iTunes doesnt recongnize that my iPod is plugged in!!! i have pretty much de-bugged the problem...its not any of my USB ports b/c other hardware (digital camera etc...) work in them...and its not the computer...but it could possibly be iTunes. if i delete and re-install my iTunes software do i loose all my songs? and w/out loosing all my songs etc is there anything i can do to fix this?
i have also tried resetting my iPod multiple times, but that doesnt work so...the only other thing i can think that could have happened is: i got an iHome a few months ago, and ever since that i have had the problem...so that could have messed something up...can u help?

Does the text on your iPod show up grey in iTunes? Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. For more detail see this tutorial: Managing Your Songs Manually
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Album art is showing in itunes but not on my ipod

I have a new 60GB ipod video and am having a problem with album artwork. It shows in all the right windows in itunes but not on the ipod itself.
The problem is affecting random songs (singles and odd album tracks) and is not as a result of any software updates.
I have tried unchecking and rechecking the 'display album art' option in preferences, deleting and reinserting the covers and even deleting and reimporting the affected songs from scratch. So far nothing has worked and I don't know what else to do!
    Any suggestions?
Apple iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   ipod 60GB with video

Thanks but still no luck I'm afraid.
To update: I have been using itunes 6 from the outset and have always manually updated the ipod - it has never even been switched to automatic as I changed this at the start (advice from a friend). File formats for the affected tracks are all either AIFF or Apple Lossless - same as all the unaffected tracks.
The even stranger thing is that artwork for some albums, where all the tracks were imported manually at the same time, shows for some tracks on the ipod and not others. The artwork does, however, show for all of the tracks on the ipod when viewed through itunes!
