ITunes 7 - cannot rename albums

anyone else having a problem renaming albums?

just a though, and simple one at that, but maybe you should try to change he album name directly by clicking on the track and then pausing before clicking the album name. this should allow you to edit the name of the album right on that window instead of opening the info window. Hope this works!

  • ITunes cannot find album artworks

Hello, I imported some purchased Cd's I have at home to iTunes and the album artwork does not appear. I tried all the ways to make iTunes get the artwork as the iTunes help says and still, "artwork could not be found". Is there a way I can make iTunes to automatically download the album artwork??
    thank you

Do you know I have the same problem.
I go to HMV with my daughter and spend time browsing music together. We come home and inport our music. It always finds the track and album names but cannot find the Artwork. This does not seem to apply to odd or old stuff, even chart CDs.
To add insult to injury if you type the album name into Itunes it is there, with the artwork.
Another reason why I HATE Itunes......

  • ITunes cannot download album artwork

I am using iTunes 7.5 on Windows XP, and have imported my music from my CD collection using iTunes. While iTunes is able to detect the album, artist, and song titles and download that information from the Internet, it does not do so automatically. (The option is set to automatically check in Preferences, but the information is still not retrieved unless 'Get CD Track Names' is selected from the menu.) The iTunes Store does not appear in the 'store pane' at the bottom of every window, and is only accessible through the 'iTunes Store' option on the left.
In iTunes, when 'Get Album Artwork' is selected from the menu, the following message appears after processing all of the albums: *"Could not get artwork for some albums."* When the "##+(total number of albums)+ notifications" is expanded, the following error is shown for every album in the library: *"Artwork for "+(Artist Name - Album Name)+" could not be found. An unknown error occurred. (-609)"* This happens even when the option is selected from the menu manually, and CD track names can still be downloaded. This problem only occurs on a certain computer; another computer running iTunes 7.5 on the same network works fine without any of the problems mentioned.
I noticed that several other users had posted similar questions a few months ago in other forums, but none of them had found a solution. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and are there any known ways to correct it?

I think that the iTunes database in your Windows user profile might be corrupted. I managed to solve the problem by creating a new database and reimporting my songs into the library. The album art downloaded automatically after that.
    1) Check the Automatically download missing album artwork is selected on the General tab in iTunes preferences
    2) Close iTunes
    3) Rename the iTunes folder (usually found in +My Music+)
    4) Reopen iTunes (this creates a new iTunes folder in +My Music+)
    5) Copy and paste the contents of your music folders (+iTunes Music+ folder) into the newly created +iTunes Music+ folder
    6) Reopen iTunes and select File > Add Folder to Library > Browse to your iTunes folder in +My Music+ > OK
Your music will then be imported into the new iTunes database and the album art should be downloaded automatically.

  • Itunes cannot browse albums on this computer

I have several windows pc xp sp2 pro machine, on some itunes will work, on others itunes will work but will not allow coverflow of albums. I have found much chatter on the web about this problem but no definitive cause, nor no definitive answer.....
Can some one please tell me the cause and or solution.
    Thanx
    terence

Generally if coverflow doesn't work it's because the machine doesn't have enough dedicated video memory to handle the extra workload coverflow requires. You need an independent video card (computers that rely on the motherboard for video are not great candidates for coverflow) with at least 32 mb of independent video memory.
The required specs for 7.3 are:
    Windows Requirements
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or later, Windows XP or 32-bit editions of Windows Vista
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later required for Apple TV or iPhone
500 MHz Pentium class processor or better
    QuickTime 7.1.6 or later (included)
    256MB RAM
Supported CD-R or DVD-R drive to burn CDs
Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN) for buying and streaming music
    NOTE these VIDEO REQUIREMENTS:
    Additional Video Requirements
2.0 GHz Pentium class processor or better
    512MB RAM
    32MB video RAM

  • ITunes 7 cannot browse album covers on this computer error and crash

Installed iTunes 7 yesterday, and now every time I try to go to certain pages in the iTunes store, such as movies or tv shows, I get an error saying "iTunes cannot browse album covers on this computer". Then iTunes immediately crashes. Has anyone else had this problem? Any fix??

I have the same issue. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I was on the Cover Flow View and it was working fine. I clicked on the full screen icon and the entire screen went random (meaning totally random pixels of color all over). I pressed the escape key and the normal screen returned, but it only showed a black section where the covers had previously been. I restarted iTunes and it started giving me the same message. I also can see them in the lower left and on the Album View. Just the Cover Flow view doesn't work. I downloaded the latest iTunes today and I keep all of the Windows updates on.

  • ITunes not Finding Album Art (Which Does Exist)

For reasons that I have been unable to ascertain, iTunes cannot find album art for some albums that I have ripped. The art does exist on iTunes--I've done a search and checked. The song text matches; the album title appears to match; but iTunes politely informs me "Artwork could not be found."
This is not due to the fact that these are songs I have ripped myself; iTunes has found plenty of other album art for tunes I've ripped myself. Something else is going on. A couple of examples for folks to chew on:
Godzilla - Blue Öyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper: The Best Of Blue Öyster Cult
Mirror In The Bathroom - The English Beat - Beat This! The Best of the English Beat
    Freeze-Frame - J. Geils Band - Freeze Frame
The Healer - John Lee Hooker - The Healer
There are plenty of others; that's just a sample. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hello,
so there's no way of adding new covers to iTunes by drag and drop to the left bottom box??? I have to add the cover with +I only?
I've tried yesterday to add the covers with a simlpe drag and drop into the useful bottom-left box.... It didn't work... C'mon Apple!
    It kinda *****...
PS: Adding covers via the new "import cover from apple store" fonction doesn't work as well. Youth bugs I presume

  • Renameing files - iTunes cannot find files?

I recently got a new computer and forgot to send all of the music on my old one to this one - so i imported them from my iPod. When it imported them, it gave them file names such as "APKF" and "NXVX", so if i delete and file and then want it back - i have to go through all of the files until i find the one i'm looking for. A simple solution to this would be to rename the files with their correct artist name and song,... but when i do this iTunes cannot find the files when i go to play the songs ... it also does this if i simply just move a song from one folder to another ... help?
    Thank you!!!

I'm gonna keep them as their original four letter name and then just create a key in Notepad were it links the artist to the song by that four letter name. And them inport them one by one and enter their keys into a notepad...
It'll take a long time, but after i do it this one time i can just add and delete songs from the notepad.
    like this:
    Cage the Elephant:
    Back Against the Wall: WTHK
Ain't no rest for the wicked: TYRE
thank you soooo much for your help, but i'm a neat freak so i'm gonna do this. you don't know of somekind of software were you can save some kind of data? like a non-trial version of Windows Office Excel?

  • How to rename albums purchased through the itunes store?

Hello, I am having problems renaming albums that I purchased through itunes.  I bought the Black Sabbath Complete Studio Albums 1970-1978 and the Rush Complete Mercury years or whatever it is.  Anyway, the album titles are all listed as the same, every Black Sabbath album is called "Complete Studio Albums 1970-1978" and the same for the Rush albums.
Every time I go in and manually change the album names, when I close and reopen itunes it decides to rename them all "Complete Studio Albums 1970-1978"
Anyone know if there is some setting in itunes or possibly something in the file properties I can change to keep this from happening? Sifting through my ipod and having 8-10 albums under the same album name is the issue here that I am desperately trying to resolve.
    Thanks,
    -Patrick

I cannot remove albums and playlists from my iPhone; I deselect them in iTunes, but they remain.  I can add new albums and playlists

How did the photos/albums get onto the phone ?
Only photos taken with the iPhone or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the phone - either via the trashcan icon at the bottom right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it top right in thumbnail view. Albums that you've created directly on the phone can be deleted via the Edit button at the top right of the album selection screen.
Photos/albums that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from on your computer and then re-syncing

  • ItUnes spontaneously splits albums when renaming

I renamed a couple of albums with a new band name, just to tidy up. But iTunes has spontaneously split each album between track-1 and track-2 to track-n, so now I have an entry of an album with only track one, and an entry of that same album with track 2 to track-n. How did this happen? More importantly: How can I correct it? I am certain that both entries have the exact info in artist name and album name (because I use copy paste, and unless a mac behaves like a windows PC, it should always paste the same thing in...)
    Any suggestions?

Just found a solution: It's dumb and definitely a bug in iTunes: rename one entry to a different name, say "x" and press enter. Then change the name back to the name it should be. This time iTunes merges the album as it should.
STupid isn't it? I hope iTunes is gonna fix this...

  • Album artwork - itunes cannot find some album covers?

iTunes says that it cannot find album covers for some albums, some examples being - "ok computer" (radiohead). any ideas why this happens, and how i can resolve would be appreciated !
    thanks.

iTunes will only download artwork for albums that are on sale in the iTunes Store. I don't believe OK Computer is available through iTunes. if you can't find the album covers you want from iTunes you can get them from various other sources. I find this site is a good source of artwork: CD/Album Cover Art Search from SlothRadio.
Another place for finding suitable artwork is to go to Amazon. You can also locate artwork using Google image search and put the artist or album name. Locate the album from any of those sources, right click on the image and save it to the desktop, once it's there drag it to the iTunes artwork pane. Once you've added the artwork you can either delete the original file or keep it in a folder somewhere in case you need to use it again. Alternatively there are programs like these that help locate artwork: iTunes Art Importer or MP3 Tag
If you have a scanner you can create your own artwork files by scanning the CD cover itself, this is particularly useful when you are dealing with rare recordings. You'll get information on adding artwork manually and automatically at this link: iTunes 7 for Windows - Adding artwork to songs and other items

  • Album details ripped using iTunes cannot be read in Creative MediaSource. Any f

    Hi.
Most of my CD collection was ripped using iTunes. All album details are viewable when using iTunes, Windows Media Player, Real Player & Nero Player.
Creative MediaSource doesn't see the album details and, of course, won't pass them on to my Zen NX.
Any tracks ripped using Creative MediaSource show full track listing etc on my Zen NX
Is there a way to make Creative Source read or import the album & track information?
I have tried using WMP and Real Player to upload to my Zen NX but (on 2 PCs) it just hangs.
All programmes are upto date - as is NX firmware.
    Appreciate any help.
    Wint.

Be very careful. There's a bug in at least some versions of MediaSource which will strip tag data from files encoded in iTunes, due to the way it formats the track number field.
It might also be a problem with the ID3 tag version that iTunes uses being incompatible with MediaSource.
The first thing to do is go to http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/drivers and get the latest version of MediaSource.
Also take a look in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net for alternati'ves to MediaSoure and also some tagging programs.

  • Get Info Renaming Albums

I can highlight an entire album, I can rename the album, but iTunes will not show new name on the list. When I select a song, iTunes tells me it cannot locate the tune. I believe I have over 50 albums and over 700 songs where this is a problem. I have tried to uncheck the Read-Only section in the Windows profile, but it will not stay unchecked. I need a way to rename my albums to match their names that were created in Windows AFTER I ripped them into iTunes. I did this because there were over 40 albums listed in a Compilations Folder in Windows that created an extra step for my Digital Music Server. How do I select an album in iTunes, rename it, and tell iTunes where that album is located without doing this one song at a time?

If you renamed the folders on your hard drive, the easiest way IMO to get them back into iTunes is to add the folder again. HOWEVER, you'll lose information in iTunes that isn't embedded in the file itself (playcount, ratings, etc.)
