ITunes 7 having trouble detecting 5G ipod

I recently upgraded to iTunes7 and have been having issues with it since. I first uninstalled itunes6 and quicktime, installed the iTunes 7 and quicktime, and so far there have been numerous bugs.
1) While updating my ipod to the newest firmware, iTunes would disconnect the ipod and hang until I closed iTunes. Eventually fixed this with a restore and update on a different computer.
2) iTunes recognizes the ipod when i first plug it in after rebooting. However, if i disconnect the ipod and then reconnect it, it does not see it despite windows seeing it.
3) Upon rebuilding my library, iTunes would continuously crash with error messages such as
Faulting application itunes.exe, version 7.0.0.70, faulting module itunes.exe, version 7.0.0.70, fault address 0x0003345d.
The work-around solution to this was to add each album individually and make sure that there were no .m3u or .pls files in each album directory.
Anyone else have similar problems? I previously had none of these problems with iTunes 6 so I have my doubts that its something else wrong with my computer.

Hello. I have the same problem for two weeks. My player of DVD for the car does not recognize my Ipod even if reset both to defaul factory. That I can do in the matter?
The DVD accepts other Ipods so the problem is come from that (the Ipod).

As with all clickwheel iPods, you can reset this iPod by first toggling the hold switch on and off and then simultaneously pressing the select (center) and menu buttons for approximately 5-10 seconds. This is a common fix should your iPod behave unexpectedly or lock up. Once reset, the iPod should display an Apple logo for a few seconds before showing the main menu. This procedure is similar to rebooting a computer and damages none of your music or data.

Mt computer has been freezing up on me lately and I think it messed up my Ipod when it quit right in the middle of downloading and got shut off.

That's because you jailbroke your phone. You can't get help here.

  • HELP PLEASE! I am having trouble charging my iPod Mini 4GB

I am having trouble charging my iPod Mini 4GB. I used it for approx 30 minutes until it died, and it will not charge. I have tried charging it through the USB port and also the wall charger - but nothing comes on the screen to say it is in the process of charging and it will not switch on. The trouble shooting section of the manual says there should be a thunder flash icon?? Any ideas please?
Could it be the internal battery at fault? Shall I buy a new one from Maplin?

my iPod mini is doing the same thing. i'll charge it all night through a wall charger (all connections seem to be ok, the charging icon appears on the screen). but i'll take it off and turn it on for not even 5 minutes and it wil turn off! i charged it for about a week once and i took it off the charger for again, 5 minutes, and the thing turned off on me. i've sent my iPod in for service before because it was frozen, but this battery issue hasn't happened to me until recently.
if i send my iPod in for a replacement, what kind will i get back? one of my friends said that if i sent it back in, i would get a 2GB nano. thats not enough!! how do i get more?

Without even knowing if Apple's DRM would permit this, if you are in the U.S. then that's copyright infringement.

  • Having trouble connecting my ipod to iTunes and mac

Today my ipod decided to stop working altogether and not play anything. Literally, I was listening to a song and the next song never played. Couldn't figure out why, so I came on here and tried the 5 R's.
I want to restore my ipod (because obviously nothing else I did, worked), but I can't even connect it to my MacBook Pro, let alone, see it in itunes. I just want to see of restoring it might actually fix it before I do anything involving the apple store.
There's all sorts of threads about having troubles connecting ipods to PC's, but nothing I could find about connecting them to Macs.
I know for sure the USB wire is fine. I downloaded the new version of itunes and blah blah blah...it's definitely all the ipod, but I can't seem to come up with any other solution than to go to an apple store.
I only bought this within the last year and just recently started using it on a regular basis.
If anyone would like to shed some light on what might've happened, please let me know! I'd be so grateful! Thanks!

Try putting the iPod into Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363
If that works, connect it to the Mac. See if it is now recognized by the Mac and iTunes. If it is, use Restore to erase the iPod and initialize its software.

If you see your iPod in My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8) but not in iTunes under Devices, try these steps. Start at the top and work your way through the steps until iTunes recognizes your iPod.
If you don't see your iPod in My Computer, follow these steps.
This document is for Windows users and most older iPod models. See the following articles if you have this issue on:
    A Mac
An iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch)
An iPod nano (5th or 6th generation) (and you see an alert message in iTunes when you connect the device)
