Hello gunselsenol!
I'm not sure if this will be your answer, but here is something to try: assigning your iPod a different drive letter.
Try following these steps below:
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Here's what it should look like:
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).

I hope this helps,

  • Itunes wont update ipod! please help!

For some reason when i plug my ipod into my computer it won't update my ipod! It recognises the ipod and says "do not disconnect" but it wont add any new songs at all. I'm going away tomorrow and i really want all of my newest music to take with me. Its an old but fully working 40gb touchbar. Please help! xx

Maybe you have the iPod set to manual transfer, in which case you need to drag and drop music from iTunes into the iPod.
    Check in iPod preferences.

  • Replaced hard drive, what happens when I install iTunes again & update ipod

Due to my hard drive crashing, we had to replace the hard drive. When I re-load iTunes, it will have no songs already loaded in the iTunes library; however, my iPod had a couple of thousand songs on it. First, when I load iTunes and add a few new songs, will they simply add on top of those already on my iPod -- or, my huge fear, will it erase my iPod when I go to update it??? also, how can I copy the songs in my iPod back onto the newly re-loaded iTunes? Thanks!

DO NOT attach & sync your full iPod to an empty iTunes!!!
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…

Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Windows software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
Extremely Simple & Free Method: (just to recover the song files – may not work on a Mac)
    1 - Open iTunes
    2 - Edit=>Preferences=>’Advanced/General’ tab
2a --- Select ‘Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library’: checked
2b --- Select ‘Keep iTunes Music folder organized’: checked
2c --- Click OK to store changes
3 - Attach your iPod to the PC and hold down the ‘Shift+Ctrl’ keys until the iPod is fully recognized (this will defeat the auto-sync process)
4 - If you get a dialog box to link the Library, decline this option
5 - Within iTunes: Edit=>Preferences=>’iPod’ tab: switch iPod to ‘Manually manage songs & playlists’ – click ‘OK’
    6 – Eject iPod
7 – Close iTunes, then reopen iTunes and attach the iPod (it’s in manual sync now)
    8 – File=>Add Folder
9 - Browse to and open ‘My Computer’ (click on the ‘+’) and select the iPod (or the lower ‘\iPod_Control’ sub-folder)
    10 - Click OK
-- The music files should start to transfer back into iTunes with its correct information
–-- This will take some time depending on your PC’s speed and the amount of songs on the iPod
No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, & Play Count attributes will be transferred from the iPod to iTunes using this method.
If you have problems with seeing the iPod within 'My Computer', try again switching your update method to 'manual', detach the iPod, then reconnect the iPod to the PC.
After recovering your Library, strongly consider developing a thorough and frequent backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
Here is a post on developing a thorough backup strategy:

  • Trouble syncing iTunes files with iPod.  Help!

    Hi. Newbie, so be gentle.
I have a lot of songs on my computer. Sometime in the past couple of months, something prevented me from updating certain song files (and the files would vary). What would happen is the iPod would go through the syncing process and get hung up on one song (visible in the the status bar in iTunes). After it gets hung up, the syncing process would stop and I'd get the "OK to disconnect" message, but the file never showed up. On occasion, deleting the song and attempting to resync would make the iPod usuable again (and then I'd just have to reload the song and try again--sometimes that would work, other times it wouldn't).
After numerous problems with this, I talked to a rep at my local Apple store, who suggested that restoring my iPod would be the best solution. So I did. After taking multiple attempts to restore, I finally got the iPod blanked out. But now when it tries syncing to get all of my songs back, it again gets hung up on one song and stops attempting eventually. So from almost 5000 songs on my iPod, I've gone to 14.
Please help! I don't want to buy another iPod (especially because I don't know whether this is a hardware issue with my iPod or a softeware issue with my iPod or iTunes--buying another iPod isn't a guarantee that the same thing won't happen). Hoe else can I troubleshoot this issue?

Sad to say, but I think you have some corrupted music files.
Those are the worst to filter through....
My iPod was doing something similar. Wouldn't update. I finally found the bad file. It wouldn't play in WMP or winamp either, so it wasn't just iTunes being funky.
Luckily mine were like, 5 bad files in a row. Otherwise it takes forever to isolate which ones are causing it.
You could send feedback, I guess...if iTunes finds a bad file, then skip it, instead of shutting down the entire sync process. Maybe if enough of us send this suggestion, it will be implemented.

  • Itunes not updating ipod

I had a problem with my ipod before where it would not be recognized in itunes. Anyway, went to apple store and clerk restore ipod to factory settings. Now Itunes sees my ipod but still wont update the songs. help.

Well, perhaps I wasn't being clear -- can you select the option to sync the iPod? Or is it grayed out? If you can select it, are you saying it doesn't do anything?
If so, the usual remedy is to use the firmware updater to restore the iPod back to factory conditions and do a complete resync. That ought to fix things.

  • ITunes Not Updating iPod When It States That It Has

I purchased songs from the iTunes store. I have automated update. Windows and iTunes recognize my iPod. I get the message that my iPod is updated after I plug it in but it's not updated. I can't get my iPod to update even though the message states that it is updating. What am I doing wrong?

Something might get the wrong idea<<</div>
I'll have to respectfully disagree with you on that, Jim.

  • Updating iTunes without updating iPod software

If I update my iTunes to 7.6, when I plug in my iPod will it require that I update iPod software too?
If I update my iPod I will lose the majority of my music because it will require me to factory reset (it was initialized on a PC and is still on those settings) so I don't want to be forced into that option. I'd like 7.6 though so I can rent movies.
    any help would be great!

No, you'll have the option to update iPod software--or not. I updated to iTunes 7.6, but I still haven't updated iPod from 1.2.1 to 1.2.3.

  • Ipod library in ITunes freezes with Ipod Mini - HELP

    Hi!
    I have the folowing problem.
When I connect my Ipod Mini, te ITunes recognizes the Ipod and shows me the content of it. However, I can't play any of its songs nor add other songs; everything related to the Ipod in the ITunes is frozen. Please note that I can hear the music outside the Ipod through ITunes. I have already tried the 5R`s but doesnt work.
    Please help!!
    Than you in advance!
    Alan

You have to pod set on "Auto Update" if you want to drag/drop and play songs on your PC from the pod, you have to set it to "Manual update" rightclick the pod in iTunes select "iPod Options" and here you can change it to that if you wish.
If you do this tho you will have to manually eject it from the PC everytime

That is correct, a simple Restore will fix the problem.

It will only be where you put it.

  • Can't update iPod, please help!!!

Normally when you click on "file" in iTunes, one option is "update iPod" but it is pale (can't select it). I can't update it so please reply if you can help!!
Also, yesterday it wouldn't let me disconnect/eject the iPod, and also every now and again a message saying something about a "corrupt file" comes up.
If you can help me with any of these things. PARTICULARLY the updating one then please reply ASAP!!
    thanks!

    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPodUser_Guide(color_display).pdf
Try this link put. It has some good basic information on how to update your ipod. Try to manually update your ipod, the instructions for it are in there. When you are talking about the smart list i think you are refering to the smart playlist. What you can do is set a playlist that has different options that will automatically update the playlist. Say for instance everything that you rate as five stars you can make a playlist that will take all of the songs that have five stars and put it on that playlist without you having to do anything.
Now about the issue of the do not disconnect. I had the same issue with mine when I had first got my ipod. If you look in itunes at the very top in the little dropdown menus there will be one called preferences. Now with your ipod connected click on the ipod tab. There should be an option in there that will let you listen to music etc while it is charging on the computer. The default setting for when it is hooked up to a computer is to not play music or anything until it is unplugged.
I hope that will take care of your questions, if not let me know and i'll see what i can find for you and if it did work if you don't mind let me know.

  • Music and Apps will NOT sync back on updated iPod! HELP?!

So I've just currently updated both my iTunes and my iPod 4th gen. My music is on my computer in iTunes, but when I go to my music on my iPod, it's not there. I have tried syncing it multiple times, but it won't work, and when I restarted my iPod and tried syncing it again, it still fails to add my music to my iPod! Anyone have an idea as to why this is? Please help!

The same thing is happening with mine.  Went to the Verizon store  ... said it was a faulty battery. Low and behold none of the stores in my area even had a battery in stock.  Have had to wait 5 days for it to come in the mail.  Cost me over $30!!!!!!  Anyway ... after about 15 min.of the rep trying different things, the phone finally came on  .... barely.  He told me to keep it plugged in.  It actually started working fine for almost a week  ... now its doing it again.  Battery came today .. gonna give it a try.  Apparently this is an issue with ALOT of people with this phone.     WHY DOESN'T VERIZON ADDRESS IT!?
Makes me rethink my choices when my contract is up in February.  May do some shopping for a different carrier!  I have been a Verizon customer for forever  ... you would think they would make this right!

  • Please help! Deleting songs from itunes library & updating ipod

Must I keep all albums I wish to upload into my ipod on my computer? I have the ipod settings set to automatic and if I delete the album from the library (completely from my pc) the next time I connect my ipod the album gets deleted from the ipod.
I tried setting the ipod to manual but then I can't figure out how to update my ipod with the songs I want to add. It really doesn't make sense for me to have to fill up my hard drive with all of this music just to keep the songs on my ipod. I really hope someone can please tell me otherwise.

If it's on Manual update, you simply drag the songs from the library to the iPod in iTunes.
If you wan tot remove music, right click on it and select Clear. Do this with the iPod selected not a playlist on the iPod.
