Itunes 7 lost it's cool

Everything that made iTune so cool is quickly disappearing. I refer to the quick access buttons that made the most used/useful features easy to find and quick to get to.
The import/burn button, equalizer, visualizer. While the new eye candy is nice it is not so nice that I would want to give up the others to make space for it. I would rather that Apple would have buried the album view options under the view menu. iTunes 7 now handles like it was designed by Microslop rather than the usual Apple geniuses.
Maybe Apple should consider making the control bar at the top customizable like a web browser. I hope there are enough folks out there that feel as I do who will express their opinions where some Apple representatives might see it.
Peace and Grace,
thomas

Within the last hour, I noticed that my older MacBook Pro, while I was using iTunes, lost contrast on the screen.  I am sorry, but I did not take exact notes on this event.  Around the same time, I did do a back up, uploaded Apple software, etc.
I'm using two MacPros simultaniously, the old one for iTunes, and the new one for the other things.  My new one has no problems, so am wondering if there is an easy way to correct the older MacPro's contrast problems.  The computer is over three years old, and I'm wondering also if this failure is an aging sign.  (I also have other problems, such as a noisy DVD drive, which is part of the reason I bought a new MacBook Pro.)

Is the older MBP a pre-Unibody model from early 2008? If so, it could be having this problem:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2377
If so, you would be entitled to a free repair.
The lost contrast could be considered distorted video.
Do you have an external monitor? If the external shows the same lost contrast, the graphics chip is likely the culprit. If the external is OK, then you probably have an issue with the built in display or possibly with its connections.
You may also want to check in Universal Access to see if the contrast bar is set in its normal position (all the way to the left).
Apple has a special test they can run to diagnose the NVIDIA issue, so if you have access to an Apple Store, make an appointment at the genius bar to have it run.
    Good luck!

  • With the new update iTunes lost my important play lists. Anyone else?

With the new update iTunes lost my important play lists. Anyone else?

If you have a backup on iCloud or iTunes you would not have lost all your data, the update went fine on my phone and my wifes and many others. On forums you dont see the millions of users saying it went well, just the few with issues. If you had no backup thats not Apples fault, thats yours. The same will happen whatever platform you go to if you dont back your data up.

  • ITunes lost connection to music library

For some reason, iTunes lost the connection to my music library. All the songs are still on my hard drive, and if I manually go to them and click them, they will play in iTunes, and then stay in iTunes, but none of the ratings or playcounts, etc. show up. How can I get iTunes to reconnect to my music and keep all my ratings, etc? Please help...

If your are on Windows XP - SP2 and above, try this:
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

  • ITunes lost some of my songs!!

    Hello,
I had to use my latest Time Machine backup to wipe all the disk and restore it so I could use Bootcamp.
It all went fine but now iTunes lost a few songs... They are still in the library but they can't be found on the HDD.
Before the TM restore operation, they were there.
This also seems the confuse the **** out of the iPhone from which I'm getting the very well documented mystery error 13019 or even "0xE8000001 Can't Sync for no reason, get lost"
I tried all the steps documented in the KB, even factory restore and upgrade to 3.1 to ma avail.
I suspect these two issues are related but I can't fix them!!!
    This is overly frustrating

Oh, and did I mention that it also screwed my last iPhone backup? When I restored, everything was there except 18 months worth of SMS. And no way to get them back. Nice.

  • ITunes lost all of my files on the external drive, thousands of songs.  Is there a way to load them back in without doing one at a time?

I've just updated the lates iTunes, and now it seems to have lost all of my music.  I have thousands of songs on an external drive, none of them can be found...the songs are in multiple folders on the external drive so the media folder to the external folder doesn't fix the problem...iTunes isn't seeing songs that are in different folders with sub folders.  Is there a way to have iTunes discover the music on the external drive to avoid reloading each of them one at a time?

When you first download iTunes onto a PC, it will give you the option to allow iTunes to search for your music. I'd suggest removing iTunes from your PC, connecting your external drive and then download iTunes from scratch. I'm pretty sure if you let it, it will find the music for you.

  • Itunes 'lost' my music files

This appears to be the result of a problem while I was syncing my iPod. During a standard syncing process, it appeared that iTunes was pulling music files from a location on a home server that I didn't want. I stopped the sync process and most of my music and all my playlists have now disappeared.
Now iTunes 7.4.2.4 can't seem to 'see' 2/3 of my music library or any of my playlists. I've been using it for a couple of years with no real problems. All my music files/folders are still in the iTunes folder on my hard drive but iTunes doesn't see them.

Are you saying that there is no music on your iPod and in your iTunes library on your computer?
    - Try resetting the iPOd. Nothng is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reboot the computer
    - Redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Got new iPod, deleted iTunes, lost music

My friend recently got a new iPod (and turned the old one in for a discount). My friend's new iPod would not sync with old iTunes, so she tried to upgrade it. For some reason it wouldn't. In frustration, she deleted iTunes from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Now she realizes that iTunes is gone and her iPod is empty. Is all of her music gone forever? Or 1) is there a remaining library of music or 2) does the iTunes store allow you to download your purchased music again? Thank you for any assistance!

Hi, the music files should still be on the PC. Here is an article on finding lost music.

  • Itunes lost due to harddrive wipe

how do I get my account back on my laptop ... I am going round and round in support and cannot find an answer. hardrive wiped due to crash and computer repair. I know my username and password but when I try to download a new itunes it won't recognize those usernames and password says someone else has them ... and there are no other options ... I can't call the help number as I am hearing impaired .... help

Is there anyone else in this forum who can help me other than this punk who is wasting time telling someone they should have done this or that. My question was, I have an account with Itunes, I know my username and password, but I have no hard copy of Itunes as it was lost along with the old harrdrive. How can I get it back. Itunes does not allow you to download a new copy of itunes because if you start to put the info in, including your visa number they say someone else has that account. I just went to itunes, went to my account then store, put in my username and password, but all I get is a means to buy ipods, that sort of stuff. We can all bet on one thing, that I am not the first person this has happened too, but when you go to all the forums, I can not find one incident of a posting regarding the subject

  • Had a ipod running with my itunes, lost ipod. new one wont connect to itune

I had anice new ipod, installed on comp with itunes. I lost said ipod. Bought another one and i have some problems with it. I thought i would restore it and wipe it clean, when i bring up the relevant window in my ipod folder, it says that this new ipod cannot be read by the ipos software. Is this because it has a different number? Is there any way i can get my comp, itunes etc to accept this new ipod? HELP

Your music will ONLY be where you put it.
If for some reason you failed to keep on your computer, not good, tehn you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

I have imported some audiobooks from my computer into itunes.
Normally they show up in music. and i need to select autiobook.
However I imported a bunch, and they are no where to be found.

  • ITunes lost ... how to sync iPhone data back to blank iTunes ..

    Hello Everyone,
Previous iTunes was lost and now have formatted and reinstalled Windows7 x64.  iPhone (10.5.1) is currently backed up, via the new iTunes, to iCloud.  And to the new computer as well.  No other devices or computers involved.
How do I perform syncing operations without losing everything that's on my iPhone?  Open to any solutions.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Itune lost library old ipod need to be sync

Hi I got itune messed up and when updating (i talk about few months ago perhaps) lost all my music and ipod playlist. So now I have my ipod (ipod nano 5th generation) with my music but if I sync with itune it will get erased so I'd like to repeat the process of syncing starting from a full ipod.
    question 1:
Now i managed to get the music from the ipod save on my computer with this post http://macs.about.com/od/backupsarchives/ss/copy-ipod-music-to-mac_6.htm
now what i'd like to do is to put these songs from the folder where are saved directly to "my ipod" playlist rather than drag to music main folder of itune. drag and drop won't work I searched how to send songs from a folder to a playlist and came across this post http://hintsforums.macworld.com/archive/index.php/t-40585.html ) it suggest to download a script which a did but once put in the folder I don't know how to run it...
    suggestions?
I thought about delete all the music in music itune and put the song of folder "my ipod" as new total music library then send them all to ipod playlist and then rebuild my music library but if there is another way i'd prefer...
    question 2 :
if i manage to put those song in the "my ipod playlist" how to tell ipod to sync on that playlist? if i go to my ipod section in itune (when plugged) and then music tab the music syncing is already set on "selected playlist"  but won't tell me which one (and I might doubt is different name) and if i thick "sync music" it will ask me to start syncing without allowing me to change the setting already pre set.
    question 3:
if itune will be so smart to sync the ipod with "my ipod" playlist will it delete the on the go playlist? i'd like to keep that on my ipod, otherwise i have to export it. I found this post http://forums.ilounge.com/ipod-classic-ipod-5g-video/210062-how-can-i-get-playli st-off-my-new-160-gb-ipod-classic-into-itunes.html on how to export and import the playlist and I tried but it tell me that not all the file were imported cause they haven't been found. still on the ipod they are all there
    Thanks
    P.

  • Itunes, lost music! :-(

My Imac was on a reparation a few days ago, and i get a new harddisk, i lost all my music, movies, programs and all thoose things from itunes, Some know how i can get it back? :-)

You get only a single download per purchase for music and movies in the Danish iTunes Store, so you will need to restore those from your backup. For apps and iBooks, see:
