ITunes 7 not even opening
I tried to upgrade my PC's iTunes from 6.0.3 (I think) to 7.0.0.1 (or whatever the version is); it seems to have installed fine but when I try to open iTunes, it gives me the Software License Agreement, and after I agree to the terms, 'The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (0x666D743F).' Help?

Same problem here - on one PC (Windows MediaCenter) I got the same error message. On the other computer (Windows XP pro) the error does not occur.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) (not for XP) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

try running as administrator -- a temp solution for me anyway. Waiting for apple to fix whatever this is. At least one other poster here had same problem and "solution" worked for him as well.

My problem is after updating to Yosemite does my mail client any longer. I can not even open the mail, and when I "forced closes" mail and try to open it again to go in the entered settings running the colored wheels around and allows me only to forcing close again? does anyone have a solution to the above problem?
You mean the default OS X mail app? Try reinstalling OS X Yosemite if that's the case.
If you are referring to 3rd party mail applications, that's a compatibility issue. Some apps don't work in the new operating system. You have to wait until the developer updates the app, or you have to revert back to Mavericks to continue using it. -
Has anyone else seen the "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources" error message appear when Excel isn't even open? It keeps happening to me, and it's the strangest thing.
It seems like interacting with Excel files sometimes prompts it - for example, I just turned on my computer this morning, checked my email, and then opened Google Chrome to upload some Excel files. Excel hasn't been opened at any point since the machine
booted up, but this Excel error popped up while I was uploading the files.
Checked the Task Manager because I was baffled (not that this is the first time it's happened), and there's no Excel application running, just that silly error message. Choose OK on that error and a VBA run-time error message appears (not even sure if it's
Excel VBA or Word/Outlook but I assume it's Excel - it's the good old 1004, application-defined or object-defined error).
Debug is greyed out, so it won't let me debug to see what the problem is. Choosing End brings the "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources" message back for one final performance.
This happens on a not-infrequent basis: Excel isn't open, and I randomly get this set of Excel errors: 1) "cannot complete task", 2) VBA run-time, 3) "cannot complete task" again. Then it's done, until the next time it happens. Weird.
I have 32-bit Windows 7 and Excel 2013/2010/2007/2003/2002 (I know!) but the issue only started after installing 2013. I also get the "cannot complete this task" message regularly when working in Excel (generally with Power Pivot or something legitimately
memory-hungry though), and restarting the application does the trick. I don't mind a heads-up when I'm gobbling up too many resources, but when Excel's not even open, it's a bit ridiculous. It's like I have a zombie Excel! Does interacting with Excel files

As the memory error messages , it can be very generic and don't always identify the real cause of the issue. We may try to use the KB that Mr. KR mentioned above to troubleshoot it.
On the other hand, if the file is xls format, we may convert to the new file format .XLSM and test.

Next, try to disable hardware graphics acceleration from File > Options > Advanced > Display section and disable Aero Themes (if you enabled) to check the results.

Mac mail will not even open in lion...Any suggestions
I have installed Lion, now Mac Mail will not even open just freezes up at start and I have to quit it eveytime, application does not respond. Please help!
Did you fix this problem? I had to go to software update and update to a new mail for icloud.

The program was working fine..now nothing. I have un-installed it several times...re-installed it several times. Will not even open in safe mode.

If the new profile does work, you can transfer selected data such as bookmarks and passwords to the new profile. I would not copy preferences or extensions, instead re-install the extensions. Just downloaded OSX10.10 - Yosemite. iPhoto said it needed to be updated, which I did. Upon trying to boot up iPhoto, I received the following message: "The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it." iPhoto will not even open
I'm a bit of a noob but this worked - I right-clicked iPhoto and chose the top option "iPhoto Library". I didn't note the message that appeared, but it was something like
telling me I needed to upgrade iPhoto Library for it to work with my new version of iPhoto
cautioned me that it could take a while, and
once I upgraded it couldn't revert back to an earlier version.
So - I asked it to upgrade, it did, and once it finished iPhoto opened and now works!
I suppose why we could wonder why it wasn't included or mentioned in the original iPhoto upgrade, but this was probably more character-forming... -
I just started using my iphone 5s. I have a problem with new incoming emails from my POP account. Why are they marked as read automatically even though I have not even opened them yet.
At first I thought it might be because I was using simultaneously my old iPhone 4S so it somehow realized the emails where being pushed to another device and the it marked as read, this has nothing to do since I have deleted the email account from the iPhone 4SContact the email provider for assistance with their service.

I bought the app Atari greatest hits package for $9.99 and now the app will not even open... Every time I try to open it it closes on its own...any suggestions?
Try deleting it and reinstalling it.
you can also try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds or so until it reboots and see if that helps. -

Help! Dataman says iTunes is using data when it's not even open.
Hi all,
Over the past two months I have been using unusually high amounts of data.
At first I thought it was because I was streaming Podcasts. Yesterday I deleted the Postcasts app to see if it made any difference to the data I was using and downloaded DataMan app to confirm this.
Now every time I check DataMan it shows iTunes using the most data, but iTunes isn't even open!
I've closed all the programs running in the background and am wondering - where is this data usage coming from? What else can I do to stop this usage?
Could it be a faulty report from DataMan? I don't believe that is the case because the usage the app is reporting is very close to what my provider is telling me as well.
I've attached an image of the DataMan report so you can all see what I mean.. Any help would be appreciated!No, but ITunes helper does??? Not sure where this is launched/closed from.

Okay, disregard my SN, because I'm really upset right now. iTunes has just decided on it's own that it's not going to function properly any more. This couldn't be worse because I have to leave for a 3 hour drive and I have no music now because this software is horrible.
I've reinstalled and restarted an incomprehensible amount of times and I have been looking but can't find a clear cut answer. I double click my shortcut icon on my desktop and nothing happens. I can double click until the freakin' cows come home and nothing happens. I even tried to crash my computer by highlighting the icon and holding the enter key (bad idea, I know, but I'm ******). iTunes was working just an hour ago, and now it's dead.
Please help me. This is hands down the worst music software I've ever used. It always gives me errors and crashes. The only reason I haven't created an account here before is because my roommate is a Computer Science major and has been able to help me. However, not even he knows what the **** is the matter.
I need help immediately, any is appreciated!
And to Apple, I'm very disappointed.

Dell Latitude D610 Windows XPBelated Happy Thanksgiving...with that aside, I don't particularly know what to tell you. I followed the link's directions and took out the stuff that appeared to meet the description. I will tell you though that the dates didn't exactly match up to when the system stopped working. It was off by as much as 2-3 days. I was only suspicious of them because I hadn't installed or downloaded anything in that time frame. If you look at the previous stuff I wrote, there are some of the files I found. The "woypwp.exe" was the one I found running when I compared it to the task manager. That date also didn't line up with when it stopped working, but it apppeared strange so I took it out and now everything is working as before..actually better..pop-ups stopped too. Good luck

Itunes wont even open. Double click = hour glass spin then nothing..
I'm having a problem with itunes8. When I doubleclick on the desktop icon, or access itunes from any shortcut or the direct EXE the mouse cursor turns into the hourglas for about 3-5 seconds, goes back to normal cursor, then nothing happens. itunes wont even pop up. I get no error messages, and I DONT get the BSOD like most are reporting problems getting. I get NOTHING at all.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled with the newer updated itunes8 installer and that still will not work. I also had itunes 7.7 downloaded from the other week before 8 was released, it does the same thing. It wont run either..
I was on the line with tech support last night (iphone tech, not itunes tech; they were closed) and we tried removing ALL startup items, installing, ect and it still did not work.

done COMPLETE uninstall of ALL apple products plus used microsoft install cleaner then reinstalling
tried booting up with NO startup items whatsoever and no services except microsoft services
Installed quick time separately first, then itunes
tried installing itunes 7.7
I thought MAYBE it was because I'm running a custom version of XP (Bariski edition) so I installed itunes 8 on my other computer which is running the plain old XP SP2 from MS and it actually did the exact same thing. It "pretended" (as i like to say) to load itunes then never popped up.
