ITunes 7 'previous track' glitch

Hello everyone. I've been experiencing a bit of an issue with iTunes with regards to the 'previous track' button. Oftentimes, if I press that button with a few seconds to go in the song, it'll still advance to the next track. Occasionally, when this happens, I can hear the previous track (the one I meant to go back to the beginning of) playing along with the next track! It doesn't occur every time, but is rather annoying when it does. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

(On an unrelated note: I've discovered that, on my Sawtooth G4, the Visualizer no longer runs nearly as smoothly as it did under iTunes 6.5. Also, with both Macs, I can't change the size of the visualizer from full screen, since the command codes to do such merely turn the full-screen visualizer off.)

Same problem here since I installed iTunes 7.0.1

  • ITune Plus tracks not showing up

It seems to me that in the past, if I logged into my account settings in the iTunes store, there was an area where I could select "always show iTunes Plus" or something like that. I no longer see that as an option.
This concerns me, because, for example, if I do a normal iTunes store search for "Cannanes", I see a number of tracks available for purchase, but none are available as iTunes Plus...however, if I do a "Power Search" from Quick links in the iTunes Store menus, and make sure I select "Search iTunes Plus", I see that there are 13 tracks available in this format that were previously not shown!
What gives? Has the preference for this option changed? Is there a bug in iTunes or the iTunes store? Or is it that Apple would really prefer to not sell the iTunes Plus format, given the higher bandwidth cost and the fact that these tracks now cost the same as DRM'd songs?

It's no longer an option since iTunes Plus tracks are the same price as the other tracks, so there's no need to turn iTunes Plus on and off. There are indeed anomalies in the display of Plus tracks, so assuming you're using the latest version of iTunes, it's probably an ongoing glitch in the iTunes Store and not anything on your end.

  • Audible second of previous track during any kind of play.

My ipod 3G 8GB nano has been malfunctioning. On any play, before a song would start, a second or two of the previous track would play, then the regular track would begin. I have reset the ipod many times, downloaded the newest version of iTunes, and followed all other basic restart procedures, including restore. I am willing to accept any advice at this time.

  • ITunes Loses Tracks

Hello good people of the board.
I imported all my files over from my old iMac to my new one and have an annoying problem. iTunes loses tracks seemingly at random. I assumed that it was a glitch during the transfer which caused the little exclamation mark to appear next to tracks meaning that I would have to manually tell iTunes where the file wass. I've noticed that it's starting to happen with tracks imported directly on to my new computer though. I've searched the forums but no-one seems to have this exact problem, all the others seem to be related to external hard drives which I'm not using. Any ideas?

Have you tried 'Advanced:Consolidate Library...' option? I've never needed to do that yet (when I occasionally get the !, I just navigate to the relevant iTunes folder to re-establish the link, but if you're getting a lot of them, maybe you need to Consolidate? )
Try it out, it can't hurt, see if it helps.

  • I'm in cycle mode, and 'merge' is clicked in preferences. However, when I record, my previous track data keeps getting overwritten. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong. Interestingly, I can still see the data in the region.

since you didn't specify, are you recording in a single take?

  • I do not have an apple computer,  I have had Itunes  Previously but had not used it for some time.  when I try to use it now the following message keeps coming up no matter how many times  install Itunes.  "The Itunes library is locked on a locked disc ?

I do not have an Apple computer,  I have had Itunes previously but had not used it for some time,  I have Itunes gift cards but can not get ,on to use them.  I have tried to download Itunes again but the following keeps poping up, "The Itunes library is locked on a locked disc, oryou do not have write permission for this file."  How can I overcome this?

To solve this issue all I did was check to ensure that the file permissions were set as described by the earlier posts, followed by simply deleting the iTunes Library Genius.itdb file.  Once the file was deleted I was able to open iTunes without difficulty.  Note that I am running Windows 8.  Hope this helps!

  • I have multiple iTunes Previous Libraries

I am trying to delete stuff to allow for extra space in my hard Drive.
I have multiple iTunes Previous Libraries.....Can I delete these & would it actually help?
Also how can I identify the correct ones to delete? If it says previous does that definately mean it is okay to delete?
    Just trying to be safe!
    Thanks for any help!
    Philip

Are those songs in the iTunes library on the computer the device is normally synced with?  If so, sync them to the device.

  • Is There a Tag to Identify iTunes Plus Tracks?

Does anyone know of a tag that can identify iTunes Plus tracks in your library? I'd like to do a backup of them but can't readily identify them. I rip my CDs at 256K so by bit rate is not an option with my rather large library. The DRM tracks are fairly easy in that they are 128K but I can't nail down the iTunes Plus tracks. Thank you if you have any advise.

Can I press my great luck with this thread and ask if there is a way to create a smart playlist with the iTunes DRM (128K Bit Rate) tracks? Your Kind=Purchased worked brilliantly for the iTunes Plus tracks. I'd love to be able to replicate it for a DRM version of my iTunes tracks. Although I'm still hopeful that I'll be able to upgrade these all to the iTunes Plus files in the future. Thanks for any assistance that you can offer.

  • How to convert MiniDiscs into iTunes as tracks/albums?

    Hi there,
from the earlier days of Sony's MiniDisc era I have a big collection of MiniDics around with all kinds of recordings (CD's, radio takes, interviews etc).
I still have a MD Walkman (Sony MZ-R30) and am using a iMac 27" and a MacBookPro 17" (early 2009) as well as a iPod.
How could I digitize those MD's into iTunes as tracks/albums with the given hardware, and which additional hardware/software is needed (if any?)
I really hope there is a way... Thanks for any hints.

although a little off topic, this post by Zevoneer should point you in the right direction:

One way is to connect your turntable (through the Tape out sockets of your amplifier) to the audio in socket of your computer and record the input. On the computer you'll need audio editing software to capture and edit the resulting long file into individual tracks that can be added to the iTunes Library. There are a number of commercial programs for this (I use Sound Studio for the Mac but there are many other programs. If want to try out the process first you could try the open source program Audacity which has Linux, Mac and Windows versions at this link: Audacity
In addition to the software you'll need RCA to 3.5 mm audio plug cables to connect the Tape Out sockets of your amplifier to the audio inputs of your computer. There's a short guide to recording here: How to record from vinyl and cassette to a computer also from the BBC Copying Vinyl Recordings to CD
You could also have a look at the Griffin iMic which connects to a USB port on your computer rather than audio in and comes with some software of it's own: iMic USB audio interface

  • Previous Tracks on Garageband

I can't locate previous tracks when I record on Garageband. I click on the "Tracks" text but nothing happens. I used to be able to go back to previous tracks until I downloaded the new version. Any suggestions?

Is it just a case of recording as a "Real Instrument" and not an "Electric Guitar"
    Yes.
and if that is the case can I change a "Guitar Track" to a "Real Instrument Track"?
Has anyone got any bright ideas?
    Regards
    Shakey
Sorry, I am not sure how to do that. I ended up just re recording my guitar parts.
    All the Best.

  • Next/Previous Track multimedia buttons stopped working in 2.18

After upgrading to 2.18, when I use Banshee the keys that are mapped to next/previous track have stopped working. However, volume change and mute buttons still work.
I checked the Gnome configuration (preferences -> keyboard shortcuts) and those keys are mapped properly. Who knows how to explain this?

Here is my .xbindkeysrc.  It works for me with exaile.  Note that I am using mouse buttons.  You'll want to replace them with keycodes from your keyboard.
    #Mouse: Volume Up
    "/usr/bin/amixer -q -c 0 set PCM 2dB+ unmute"

  • ITunes lose track of music files

Every couple of days iTunes loses track of all the songs stored on my PC. As soon as you open iTunes for any user. all songs you attempt to access cannot be found and the exclamation point appears beside all songs listed in the library.
I have centralized all my song files – about 9400 files - on an internal secondary drive “e:\music\iTunes\iTunes music”. This is set as the default folder for all iTunes users.
I have iTunes v.6.0.4.2 installed for three separate user IDs on a single Dell PC running XP Home Edition. The User IDs and individual iTunes library files – iTunes Library.itl and .xml – are stored in the personal directory – “c:\Documents and Settings\my documents\my music\iTunes – per the defaults when iTunes is installed.
The only way I am able to recover from this is to delete the library files for each user and rebuild the library by going into “file=>add folder to library” and pointing at the iTunes music folder on the ‘e’ drive. I do not lose any music files but this is a very annoying bug which should be fixed. I have looked in the iTunes user forum and many people have experienced similar problems on both PC and Mac environment. None of the suggested fixes on the forum have solved my problem I have also spoken to Apple Support about this problem twice, including a Level 2 support tech. None of them was able to solve this problem.

I have had the same problem. it seems to have stemmed from the upgrade. However, I have over 40 gig of files on an external HD. I was wondering how you reload delete the titles from ITunes and reload them back into ITunes from the external HD. I want to avoid deleting the actual file from the HD; only from ITunes. thoughts?

  • ITunes loses track of music

    iTunes 9.0.1 under SL 10.6.1
How can iTunes lose track of music after I just added an entire folder full of music using the Add to Library command?
I select all my music. Delete all music. Do not move music files to Trash. Select Add to Library. Select the root folder where all of my music is stored. It adds all 18,000+ files. A new list of songs is displayed. As I browse through them, the missing file exclamation points start appearing next to songs. I double-click the missing file, it says it can't locate the song and asks me to help it locate it. I locate it, navigating through the same folder I used above to Add to Library, re-map the missing song. Repeat about 5,000 times.
The songs reside on a secondary hard drive in my MacPro. This is a constant game of cat-and-mouse. After adding a few songs, sometimes iTunes just gets tired and crashes.

If I rename items from within the iTunes interface then iTunes will make the changes and move things accordingly.
Yes, that is what I wrote the box is for.
If I take an item in iTunes and move it in the Finder to the Trash and empty the trash then iTunes will give me the !
    And?
That has nohing to do with the Keep box being checked or unchecked.
Uncheck that box then toss a file into the trash and iTunes will still show an exclamation mark.
