Itunes 7 store authorization

so i hear a lot of complaining about itunes 7 here, and ive got another complaint. when you purchase music, you can authorize up to 5 computers to play the files. well, since i 'upgraded' to itunes 7, every time turn on my computer and open itunes, it says im not authorized to listen to my purchases. it forgets its the same computer as before. so to listen to the music i paid for, i have to authorize my computer again, and again the next time until before i know it, my 5 computers will be used up and i still wont be able to listen to my music! does anyone else have this problem and maybe how to fix it?

Hello there, jeffrodgers74.
The following Knowledge Base article goes over a few of the reasons iTunes may continually prompt for authorization:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1389
Although all of the topics are relevant, most people find the following section to be the culprit in most cases:
Authorize using the correct account name
The items you are trying to play might have been purchased using a different iTunes Store account. To determine which account was used to purchase an item, follow these steps:
Select a purchased song in your library and choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab. Note the Account Name that appears in the list. This is the account name (Apple ID) you will need to use when authorizing your computer to play this purchase.
Note: The account name that appears is the one you used when purchasing the item and does not change if the account name (Apple ID) changes.
If you've authorized the Apple ID that is shown in the Summary tab, you can check the purchase history for that Apple ID from Store > View My Account. If your purchase history does not reflect the purchase of the items in your iTunes library, consider any other Apple ID you may have created, and authorize the computer for your additional Apple ID.
If you forgot the password to one of your accounts, you can recover it using Apple's password-recovery website.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Pedro.

  • HT1848 When I go to the iTunes store "Authorize Computer" doesn't show up. Anyone know where I can find it?

    hello,
i'm trying to authorize my computer but when i go onto the itunes store, I can't find where it says "authorize computer". My apple ID and account are already logged in, I'm trying to just transfer my songs from my iPhone to my mac. Any suggestions for how to do this?

Check in the Store menu at the top of your iTunes application on the computer rather than visiting the iTunes Store..

    Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • ITunes Store says it's on two computers when it's not

I had to re-install iTunes onto my computer after I lost it due to a virus. I put my account back onto it for the iTunes store and it says that it's now on two computers out of the five I could put it on. But, I only have iTunes on one computer. How can I see what other "phantom" computer has iTunes on it so I can delete it?

    Hello ActingSilly
Since you redid Windows and it is a fresh OS and fresh start. To iTunes this counts as a new computer.
You can have up to 5, once you reach five you can reset that count to 0 and start it again. Once per year.

  • 3G-itunes store apps-won't load-already tried restore

So I synced my iphone to my itunes this morning and now none of my apps will load. I have the most updated version, I tried the restore by holding down the home and off buttons. Nothing seems to work!!! Help!

    Hello recess22,
    Welcome to the Discussions Boards.
For some reason the authorization of your computer is not being refreshed or updated for some reason. Here are a few things to try.
First, make sure that the iTunes ID associated with the APPs is the correct ID.
In iTunes on your computer, go to your Applications list under Library.
Right-click on a few of the Applications and choose "Get Info."
Make sure the account information there matches your iTunes ID.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click on your ID in the upper-right corner and choose "Sign Out."
From the Store Menu in iTunes, Deauthorize the computer.
Sign back into the iTunes Store.
Download any Free APP from the APP Store on your computer.
In the Applications tab for your iPhone, make sure that new APP is selected to sync. Sync.
If the error persists, try the following:
Open the iTunes Store on your computer.
Locate and download the "Free Single of the Week" whatever it may be.
(It is generally located in the middle of the page below the "New and Noteworthy" section.)
Once it is downloaded, try to play the free single in iTunes on the computer.
If you are once again prompted to authorize, authorize.
You may be presented with the iTunes Store Terms agreement page. Agree.
Make sure that song is selected to sync to the iPhone.
    Sync.
If you are still unable to sync, then the issue is most likely with your iTunes account and you will want to contact iTunes Store Support via the Email link at the bottom of the following page with as much detail as possible:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/
    Hope that helps,
    Charles H.

  • Can't download songs from iCloud in Canada, purchased from Hong Kong iTune Store

I have an Hong kong apple account. Now I'm in Canada, and I bought a song on iTune store. It was downloaded to my iCloud but I can't get that song from iCloud to my Mac.. Why is that so?? Is that related to the regions I am staying right now?

    Hello holi890
Try signing out of your iTunes account and deauthorize. Once that is done sign in and Authorize the computer to see if that resolves the issue. If it still doing the same thing, then check out the second article to troubleshoot access to the iTunes Store.
