ITunes 7 unknown error

when ever i install itunes 7 and try to run it i get a softwear licence agreement, then i click agree, then a box comes up and says "The ITunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occured (0x666D743F)". Anyone got any ideas on how to fix it?

The open QuickTime first approach did not work for me. I resolved the error by changing the default devices to my soundcard in the Control Panel. It seems a lot of the 0x666D743F errors are related to third-party audio applications. In my case, it was an audio streaming recording tool that I was using. Other's found that it was the audio application that runs in the system tray for their soundcard. Some other people said it was a plug-in for iTunes that caused the problem. Finally, one thread of users found that it was Remote Desktop that caused the problem (but I assume that you are not running iTunes via Windows Remote Desktop.)
My post on sound devices is elsewhere in this discussion at:

Hi, my iphone its in recovery mode and when i restore my iphone 5s loading show the blue screen and show note on itunes (unknown error 14) please i need your help please . thanks

In the article Resolve iOS update and restore errors this is what it says about error 14:
    Check your USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4005, 4013, 4014, or “invalid response."
If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you may be unable to update or restore.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
    Try a different computer.
If necessary, resolve any further issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
If you're still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues by following the next section.

How do I get a refund if the movie I rented cannot be played?  (due to iTunes "unknown error"?)

I'm not sure whether rentals appear on your purchase history, but try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If it doesn't appear there (or if that process doesn't work, it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes), then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • ITunes unknown error (-200) (and others)

Just switched from a iPod mini to an older 20 gig. Tried to sync it. iTunes crashed. Made me reformat the iPod. Lost all music on it. Also, no audio was playing. Told me to update iTunes. (thinking it would solve the sync issue) I did. iTunes wont open because of quote...
    "an unknown error occurred (-200)."
So I tried updating quicktime. Didn't work. Now audio wont work for QT player either.
I have tried past versions of iTunes and they wont load either (same error).
So now I have 2 empty iPods, and a computer that will not play audio or let me load my iPod. (websounds and other apps still work so it isnt the speakers themselves).
Any help on any of these things would be great. And spell it out please I'm not too keen on the procedures here.

Also, I have not moved any files since updating. Still won't do anything.

  • Itunes unknown error [-50] but only on my login...

o my fricken god this thing is driveing me crazy. I have had an ipod nano since christmas with everything working perfectly till about a month ago. right about then my itunes stoped opening. whenever i tried to open itunes it would give me this error message that says
"the iTunes application could not be open. An unknown error occured(-50)."
about three days after that when my ipod batery died and i went to charge it it wouldnt charge but the charge screen would flicker as if it were trying to do it but couldnt. then it compleatly stoped doing anything. so i went and traded it in for a new one. i wiped itunes from my computer and reinstalled it. this did absolutly nothing the error message still came up. not only that but to load it i had to log on as anyone else but me, because when i tried to load it it would give me this error saying
"1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance, Return code: -2147024894"
well i went onto the disscussions page and spent the beter part of an houre searching for someone that had the same problme as me, and found one. in his the same error was showing up so what he did was he wiped and reinstalled quicktime and it worked fine after that. so i tried to do this. well that same error that came up when i tried to install itunes came up when i tried to install quicktime. so once again i had to go onto someone elses login and load it. this time it worked fine under their log in and after puting a few songs into it i tried to attach my ipod to it to stick the songs on it but it wouldnt recognize it no mater what. the worst part is that that same error(-50) is still there but only on my login.
Will someone please help me eather fix this or at least help me get my songs onto my ipod.

    hiya!
hmmmmm. the fact that the (-50) is happening in one account but not the others suggests some possibilities. there's components of itunes that are unique to each different account on the PC.
there's a different set of library files in each account, for example. a damaged library file can sometimes cause odd issues.
What are the iTunes Library files?
perhaps we could try a "library recreation" in your user account:
How to recreate your iTunes Library
iTunes: How to backup and restore playlists
can you get itunes to launch in your account with a recreated library file in place?

    Hello DarkAzriel,
I found a few articles that might help with the issue you are experiencing with the iTunes Store.
If you are getting a white screen when accessing the iTunes Store, I recommend reviewing this article:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123
If you are still not able to access the store or are getting a different error than just a white screen, I recommend the following articles:

  • ITunes (unknown error -54) when syncing music to iPhone 4s. Help!

I just got a 64 GB iPhone 4s and I'm having trouble syncing my music library. A few artist into syncing and get an error message saying a certain song could not sync (unknown error -54). Then the rest of my library does not sync to my iPhone. I deleted all the songs that made it into my iPhone and I tried syncing my library again. I got the same unknown error -54 message again but it's another song that won't sync. The funny thing is that the previous song that wouldn't sync made it into my iPhone. Because of that I think it's an iTunes problem and not the file. Please help! Very frustrating!

I stopped using iCloud and started to sync everything to my MacBook Pro. I had also done a restore just to make sure it was being ungunked. Everything works perfectly now. I'm back to using my laptop iTunes for backing up my iPhone 4S

  • Itunes unknown error 3194 when upgrading to latest iOS

I've been trying to upgrade my iPhone 3GS to 4.3.2, from 4.3.1 iTunes keeps reporting an unknown error 3194, when verifying the downloaded update. I don't know what is causing this.
    I have:
    - Rebooted my PC (Windows 7)
    - Rebooted iPhone
    - deleted the update and redownloaded
None of these have solved the issue. Any ideas?

    Hi pablo2001jedi,
The following link highlights the error code as being an issue with the connection to the Apple Server: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275
The link also has troubleshooting steps which you can try, but it is most likely some security software on your computer blocking the connection.
The easiest quick fix would be to update on a known working PC & Network connection, however making sure any security software is correctly configured should also resolve the problem, you can find troubleshooting for this at the following link: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125
    Hope this helps.

  • Itunes unknown error 0xE800000A

Yesterday I reformatted my hard drive and installed widows vista. I installed itunes and connected my ipod to my computer. it recognized it and started to install the 3.1 (I think the new one) ipod operating system but as I was downloading it the power cord to the computer was pulled out. now whenever I connect either of my 2 ipod touches to my computer it will give me this error message "iTunes could not connect to this iPod because an unknown error occured (0xE800000A)"
I have uninstalled my ipod drivers and reinstalled them. I have uninstalled itunes and all it's components and reinstalled them. I have tried to use the windows installer clean up program to remove itunes and install it again. I tried restarting the ipod itself. I tried resetting the settings on the ipod. all with no luck. I have never used any 3rd party applications. I have only put music and movies on it. I have no apps.

  • ITunes Unknown error message

Hi - recently had to reformat my PC and reinstall iTunes. Now everytime I open iTunes I receive the following message:
itunes library cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-48)
Can anyone help me fix this error - I would hate to lose my music.
    Thanks.

I had this problem for some months. I appear to have recently resolved it so maybe I can help.
First try this. > iTunes folder > Properties > Advanced. Switch off Fast indexing for the folder. Also make sure that in the main properties dialog box, ‘Read only‘ is completely unchecked. Easy to follow step by step instructions are at:
    http://en.onsoftware.com/how-to-fix-itunes-library-file-error-48/
If this doesn't sort it out the next thing to do is recreate the library file. This is what fixed it for me. Follow this link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
    Good luck!
