ITunes 7 update error - "Invalid Drive E:\"

I just updated iTunes. Once the installation was done and I restarted my computer I tried to open iTunes and got an error message that stated "Invalid Drive E:\" and then shut down the operation. I cannot get iTunes to work, but QuickTime seems to be okay.
I tried to reinstall an older version of iTunes but I was not allowed to do this.
Help!?!

I'm trying to upgrade to iTunes v 10.6 on a windows vista pc and keep getting the error, "Invalid Drive/E".  What do I do to get past this?

Open a Windows Command prompt, e.g. Hit Start > Run, type in CMD and press OK.
    Type in SUBST E: C:\<enter>
This will map E: to C: until the machine is restarted or you enter SUBST E: /D at the command prompt. Now you can try uninstalling or upgrading the software again.
(If upgrading software which lets you choose a location, install the software in the default location, not on the E:\ drive.)
    See here for more info.

  • Error: invalid drive E on upgrade to itunes 10.5

Can't upgrade to itunes 10.5.  Get error: "invalid drive E". What's the problem?

    See this previous User Tip.
The installer is falling over because you don't currently have a drive E: which, at a guess, was used during a previous installation. The tip suggests ways to temporarily create the drive letter so the installation can proceed.

  • Office 2013 Updates Error - Mapped Drive

    Event ID 11327
Product: Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 -- Error 1327. Invalid Drive: V:\
    Event ID 1023:
Product: Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 - Update 'Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2956177) 32-Bit Edition' could not be installed. Error code 1603
Error within Software Center: The software change returned error code 0x80070643.
These errors only occur while updating through SCCM 2012 R2 automatic software updates. I can download the update directly from the Microsoft site and install without any errors. I am a new to SCCM, but was able to push out updates for Windows 7 and Office
2010 without errors. After further testing I found that editing the Office 2013 install with the customization tool would allow the update to run. My MSP file custom install has "Remove Files" set to delete links on a mapped network drive (V:\).
I am not sure how Office 2013 updates through SCCM (only) would care about a custom install portion that should be unrelated.
I plan to exclude the V drive file removals from the custom install and just do it from a script. However, I am not sure what to do about updating the machines which currently have 2013 installed and constantly error while updating through SCCM.

you are getting into different things here. Creating the ADR and runs every-time ? Microsoft do not release patches everyday and there is no point running the ADR everytime.coming to the question , how did you create and update the MSP for the Office Update
file ? using ADR ,for deploying the updates, you will not have facility to control the command line options . for the drive letter issue (Product:
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 -- Error 1327), you can refer
http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/327763. you can try installing the MS office 2013 on a PC without any drive mappings and try the update. I suppose the issue could be with the drive mapping something related.

  • Itunes installation fails. Invalid drive

I've downloaded itunes but cannot get it to install. I get a message that says Invalid drive: G/
    Any advice?
    Thanks.
    DAn

First a question, have you you ever had any of your special folders such as My Muisc or My Pictures located on another drive - or any other configuration oddities?
Having said that I guess the first thing to try is an installer cleanup:
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instruction on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • Satelitte L350 - DVD Recovery error "invalid drive"

    Hi all,
I'm trying to restore my system with the 2 DVD recovery system (made with the utility).
All goes right until it fails at this point :
    Copy Recovery Base files
The volume your selected is not valid or does not exist.
    There is no volume selected.
    HTMPREP ...
    Invalid drive specification
ERROR : Copying of Recovery Base files failed !
Any help please ? So far i can't do anything everything has been erased ....
    Thanks.

    Hi tunker80,
I would also try formatting the HDD before you start with recovery installation. You can use a normal Microsoft Windows disk to format your HDD. After this you can test recovery installation.
If the same happens you could try installing Windows from Microsoft disk. So you can test if the problem is related to hardware or just recovery disk. If recovery disk is defective you can order a new from Toshiba directly. Therefore follow the link posted by MisterX.

  • Itune\quicktime installation error invalid G drive on Windows

    Hi,
I am trying to install Itunes 9 on a Thinkpad T61. When it gets to the quicktime phase, it says invalid G drive. I have tried going to the cmd prompt and performing Subst G: C:\, but after doing so it goes a little further, then says "the specified path is too long G:\lib". My only option is to cancel out. I have tried starting in my dock with external drive plugged in and thumb drive too to avoid having to use the SUBST command. When I do it this way, I get a different error, 2869.
I have tried just installing quicktime separately, but does not work either. I etiher get Error 2869 or that the G drive does not have enough space? I have a different laptop (older T41) that it worked just fine. Why not just use that one? The USB ports will not operate at 2.0! (known but separate problem). Sorry for the long question, but could not find anyother similar post!

Doublechecking Jim. Have you tried the procedure I describe in the following post? (In your case you'd be looking to change the drive letter to G rather than F.)

  • Current iTunes Sofware update: error 7 windows error 1114

Software update caused Error 7, Windows error 1114. Fixed .net Framework 4.5.1 (7x64) Windows operating system., as per suggestion in previous discussions. The problem still persists.
This has NEVER  happened & I have had iTunes since it was first introduced. Briefly read that iTunes must now be uninstalled, then reinstalled.
The article states "In some rare instances, it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes. For most technical issues, reinstalling iTunes is an unnecessary and overused troubleshooting step."
Judging by the number of posts, it would appear that this could be an Apple iTunes issues, and a fix would help, rather than the cumbersome task as suggested.
    Please help.

  • ITunes iPod update slow, LaCie drive sputters

I have my iTunes music on a LaCie 500GB external Firewire drive. The library file is on my Mac. When I try to update my iPod using iTunes 7, the drive seems to "click off" after each song, then seems to restart itself for the next song. The updating process is extraordinarily and unacceptably slow (1 song every 30 seconds) when the iTunes "Devices" screen is showing. The updating process is faster (5-10 songs every 30 seconds) when I make another screen (e.g., the Library) visible, but the LaCie drive still "clicks off" every now and then. This behavior seems new with iTunes 7 and is extremely annoying. What's the problem?

follow up... during a second round of updates, the problem did not occur. Very odd.

  • Quicktime Update Error: Invalid information from server and network administrator error?

I'm contantly getting a pop-up saying that I need to update my Quick Time software. So, I click "Do it now", and get a message saying that the informaion recieved from the Quick Time server is invalid.
Other times, I get a message saying: "Your Network Aministrator has disabled your ability to change the system directory," and asks me to update with a different user. However, I AM the administartor on my computer...so what is going on?
Please help, since this message keeps popping up whenever I try any application that uses Quick Time, like iTunes, or even this website.
    Operating System: Windows 7

Thanks for responding, but I kept looking around the forums and solved the problem by doing what this post said:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/7288145#7288145
Those 2 files really should be removed when you try to install/reinstall quicktime or update it to another version.
    Thanks again
