ITunes 7 - which media types will self sort into which of the 6 libraries?

I have dozens of audio files that I created myself transfering analog tapes of lectures into MPEG files. They are spoken word lectures that are much better suited for the AUDIO BOOKS - Library rather than the MUSIC - Library
I have selected "AudioBook" and/or "Spoken Word" in the GENRE list for easy sorting, but this had no impact on how iTunes recognized or sorted them.
By default, they self sort into the MUSIC-Library (I'm guessing that this is because the KIND is "MPEG" and not "AUDIBLE FILE" (audible.com books on tape format)
Does anyone know which media types self sort into which of the 6 iTunes 7 libraries? Is there a way to work around it so I can have MPEGS in the AUDIOBOOKS Library?
Thank you!

I am having a similar problem, in that some podcasts or audiobooks only show up in smart playlists and there is no way to delete them from my iPod (3G 20GB). I can play the tracks, but from iTunes they don't appear in the Music list, so they can't be removed from the iPod.

When I am listening to the radio (streaming through itunes) my macbook pro will log me out, quitting all the applications I have running (often firefox, word processing, itunes, etc). Why?
It's very frustrating and I don't understand why it happens. It might happen other times, but I notice it the most when I'm streaming the radio through itunes, though I think it's also happened when I'm streaming music or shows from NPR, so I don't actually know if it's an itunes thing, or an internet thing? Or just my computer being stupid?  But how can I fix it?
    Thanks!

My best guess at this point is a problem wwith 10.5.8
It seems clear to me that sometimes, seemingly randomly, software will access the video card (flash player, quicktime, Safari's HTML5 video player, etc) and it will cause a freeze and then log out.
However - it could just be video card + processor under load.
This didnt happen before 10.5.8 and I'm thinking it's not the new 27" display causing the issue.
I'm going to attempt to find time to revert back to 10.5.0 and then combo update back up to 10.5.7 which may be difficult as our IT is remote and we don't have access to Snow Leopard discs.
I may just have to bring my own in.

Written by: Disabled: iPad connect to iTunes, no one computer will be synced down, I know the password! Help please!

If it's showing the disabled screen then you will need to connect it to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a computer that it hasn't been synced to :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • Which abap statements will start new internal session in the same external

    hi
which abap statements will start new internal session in the same external

    Hi,
Generally, the statements SUBMIT and CALL TRANSACTION would create internal session within another.
However, the addition 'AND RETURN' should be specified upon using SUBMIT statement else without the addition, the internal session will be overwritten with the new program called by using SUBMIT.
LEAVE TO TRANSACTION also will overwrite the current internal session with the new transaction code.

my iphone is synced and backed up with another computer which is now broken...i have synced it with my new computer  but it hasnt transfered anything over to itunes and when i try to add anything to my iphone it says all data will be erased and replaced with the current itunes? i dont want to lose all my apps and music.... i dont know how to go around this problem? i want to back it all up and sync it properly to my new computer so that is now my main computer , so i can add ring tones and music etc with out it erasing everything ive got. any answers would be great and muchly appreciated. thanks, im not sure what operating system my iphone has either.....

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone.  Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos, etc) , your contacts and your calendars.  So do NOT sync yet.  This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data.  Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync.  They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.

  • Which file types will iPhoto11/iMovie11 import into their libraries?  Which are not imported?

I am moving files from my PC to my Macbook 13' and then importing them into iPhoto11/iMovie11.  Are there file types that will not be imported and therefore should not be removed from their original location after the import?

Sure. iPhoto will import Jpegs and many Raw files. Tiffs, png and many other formats as well
Video: Iphoto will import movs and avis. It won't import AVCHD but iMovie will.
Problem is that that information is useless to you. Why? Because video file are all containers. Not all avis are the same, it all depends on the codec used to create them.

  • Every time I connect my iPod/iPhone to itunes it say it will not connect because I need the 64 bit version of iTunes for Windows. But I do...

I have reinstalled iTunes over 20 times at this point. I've also tried standalone installers for the mobile support. NONE of it is working. This computer is brand new and should have no issues with functionality towards iTunes. This makes absolutely no sense. Please help. I do have the 64 bit version for Windows currently installed.

At the very end of the download it says error downloading, tap to retry.  On just about any tv show or movie.

If your ext HD boot volume is running Lion, just use something like Carbon Copy Cloner to clone it to the internal. Clean installs are usually just a waste of time.

what you downloaded is no video (just some link to an 'internal website hosting the video'...
it's a bit tricky, to pry a video from FB's dead cold hands...:
click on the video for playback in your web-browser. (no need to run the full video)
    replace the "https://www.facebook.com/…"
    by "m.facebook.com/…"
the same site appears in a diff. 'look'…
right-click/ctrl-click on video, select 'download to'.......

  • Changing File Media Type To Podcast

    Hi,
I am having issues with a podcast that I have to manually download.  In the past, I would download the file and add it to iTunes.  This would then have it show-up under the media library.  I would then go and change the media type to podcast; this would automatically move the file from the music library to the podcast library.
Since the update to iTunes, this no longer happens.  The file stays in the music portion of my library.
Does anyone know how I can have the added podcasts properly show-up in the podcast section of the library?
Thanks so much for the help,
    BJR

Thanks for the reply Ivan.  11.0.1 allowed me to change the media trype, but it still would not move the file into the podcast library.  I tried to delete the files and then re-add them.  That seems to be the fix.
It looks like it is working properly now.
    Thanks,
    BJR

  • How do you change the media type for purchased movies & TV shows?

I have purchased many movies from iTunes, and would like to organize them a bit better. For example...I would like to classify all of the standup comedy videos I've purchased as TV Shows, with the season title of "Standup" so I can go to one place in iTunes (under TV shows) to find all of my standup comedy.
    I do the following:
    - Get Info on the movie.
    - Navigate to the Options Tab.
    - The Media Kind drop down (where you would change the media kind from Movie to TV Show) is grayed out.
This is true for all media I've purchased from iTunes.
If I have ripped a DVD myself, I can freely edit the media type.
    Things I have tried:
    - Checked the permissions for my iTunes folder (all levels). It is set to read/write.
    - I have tried fiddling with the command line "chmod" command for a movie file. I believe I changed the permissions to "700" which (as near as I can tell) should change the permissions so that I can edit things.
    Neither of these things worked.
Any other things I should try? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Which Data-Types can be used as Widget Parameters?

    Hi,
I have been playing about with widgets (specifically widget parameters) for a while now.
I've got to wondering, exactly which data-types can Captivate turn into widget parameters?
So far I know that you can use:
    Numbers,
    Strings,
    Arrays,
    Objects
    and Booleans,
    as parameters.
    Which ones am I missing?
I know some don't work, because I tried storing a MovieClip as a parameter and that didn't work.

    Hi Eccles,
You can set all basic data types supported in flash viz.,
    1)Numbers
    2)Strings
    3)Arrays
    4)Objects
Since in Action script , an Object can be anything (array , array of objects , array of objects which by themselves are array of objects and so on ) , you can virtualy send anything as widget params
But there are two caveats to this
    1)Object References
-Object References do not have any meaning once the swf is closed. But the widget params have to be stored across sessions. So If you send a reference as part of widget params it is not going to work.
This is why sending a Movie Clip (which is actually a reference to an Object ) does not work
If you want to send such things you will have to 'serialize' the object.
2)Size of the Object that you send
The size of the object that you send can have an impact on performance. And since any object that you send has to be converted into XML , objects like bitmaps can turn out to be huge and difficult to handle.
This brings us down to this - you can send any object across as widget param as long as it is small and serialized.
