Do you have a mac or PC? If a PC try going into the control panel, add/remove programs, find something named Apple device driver, apple mobile device support, something like that (the exact name has changed from version to version)
Uninstall that then restart your comptuer
Open iTunes and then plug in your device and see if the drivers install

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX   ITUNES WILL NOT CONNECT TO STORE?

There's a few other threads on this issue. We're guessing that it's the Christmas rush and the servers are working overtime. I was able to buy music on my existing account, however just as you are, I'm having a difficult time setting up a new account for my son. It's much better today than it was yesterday so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they have this fixed....

  • ITunes fails to connect to store or iPod software update server despite working network, fails on multiple networks - no error message, just loads forever.

    Hey everyone,
I have iTunes 10.4 and an iPod touch. I have always had trouble with synching my iPod.
Right now, iTunes will not connect to the iTunes store. When I try to synch my iPod touch, it gets stuck in "Step 2: Backing Up," and the bar loads forever. I've left it alone for several hours and it has not made any progress. When I try to restore the iPod, or update it, iTunes gives me an error message that it "Cannot connect to the iPod software update server. This has happened despite being connected to the internet, on both my school network and my home network.
I've tried messing with the hosts file in the System32/etc. folder as the website instructed on the apple website, but that did not solve the problem.
Recently, several parts of audiobooks I have have also become unplayable on my iPod, despite being able to be played on iTunes. The parts are listed but are grey and cannot be selected.
I recently copied a bunch of audiobooks via flash drive from my sister's computer to my iTunes - could this be part of the problem? They were from an Audible account that I don't share.
    Thanks!
    -Allison

Your iTunes stores and sync problem solution here:
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, Sync and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Itunes won't connect to store, or stream music after 10.5 update

I downloaded and ran the Itunes 10.5 executable to update to the latest version
When I start Itunes I get an error message that Itunes could not connect to the ITunes Store. The network connection timed out.
I ran the diagnostics, and a secure link to the store failed, though the internet connection was verified. When I tried to open the help file, it said that Itunes Help is unavailable because your computer isn't connect to the internet.
Edit: Itunes will no longer play any music streams

I am having a similar problem. I have two alienware laptops. One is brand new and the other is a few years old. The old one has been updated to windows 7 32 and the new iTunes works fine with it. The new one is the 64 bit and iTunes store and safari no longer work on it. When I try to acces the iTunes store it goes into turbo (overclock) mode and after a minute just displays a white page for iTunes store. When I ran diagnostics it says everything is working properly. Safari does the same thing. Turbo and a white page. I have been trying to fix this all day with out any success. I even completely restored the computer to see if that would help. I hope someone can figure this out before I have a melt down

    Hi,
What security software is running on the PC? The security software could be causing the issue, try to reconfigure or temporarily disable it.
You can also try flushing the DNS as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1527
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368 provides more troubleshooting tips.

  • IOS 8.2 , iPhone 6 plus , iTunes won't connect to store

since updating my phone iTunes no longer accepts my account or password giving me can't connect to store error message.
WOrked before , worked to sign in to here but won't on the phone.

As provided else where  Store is currently unavailable probably since it is the middle of the night on West Coast when Apple would do maintenance
it is nothing to do with iOS 8 or any other iPhone issues
The servers are not available regardless of the method used to access Mac Windows PC etc etc

  • Wont connect to store

Not been on Itunes for a couple of months- want to go to store and will not connect?

    Hi sidibar,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
Take a look at the article below, it provides a lot of great tips that should help resolve the iTunes Store connection issues.
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1368
    Symptoms
You may be completely unable to access the iTunes Store on your computer or iOS device, or one of the following alerts may appear:
"Cannot connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error has occurred."
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
This article will guide you through basic troubleshooting for the iTunes Store.
    Resolution
Note: If you're experiencing another issue, such as getting a different alert or making a purchase on the iTunes Store, follow these steps.
Make sure your computer is up-to-date and meets the following requirements
Make sure that you can access the Internet on your computer or device.
Make sure that your computer meets the iTunes minimum system requirements.
Make sure that your operating system is up to date:
For Mac: Choose Apple () > Software Update to determine if updates are available for your computer.
For Windows: Go to Microsoft's Windows Update webpage.
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
    Troubleshoot issues on a Mac
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store, a software conflict or your Internet service provider (ISP) may be blocking your access.
Update iTunes and Safari to the latest version.
If you have a firewall, your settings may be preventing you from connecting to the iTunes Store. Follow these steps to configure your firewall.
You may need to reset your keychain. Connection issues are occasionally caused by keychain issues. Learn how to use Keychain First Aid to resolve any issues with your keychain.
If you're receiving a specific error message, follow these steps.
If the issue still persists, contact your Internet service provider and confirm that these ports and servers are enabled over your network.
    Troubleshoot issues in Windows
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store for more than a day (and other customers on our discussion boards aren't experiencing similar issues) a software or Internet service provider (ISP) configuration issue may be blocking your access to the iTunes Store. Find out which ports and servers need to be allowed for iTunes Store access.
Update iTunes to the latest version.
If iTunes Store appears empty and only displays the message iTunes Store, follow these steps.
Try the steps to troubleshoot iTunes Store connectivity in Windows.
As with all firewalls not manufactured by Apple, you may need to configure Windows Firewall to allow iTunes to access the iTunes Store. Follow these steps for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
Try disabling any proxies built-in to Windows. You should avoid proxies because they can cause issues.
If you're receiving a specific error message, follow these steps.
If the issue still persists, contact your Internet service provider and confirm that these ports and servers are enabled over your network.
Note: The hosts file may be blocking the iTunes Store.Microsoft's article How do I reset the hosts file back to the default? has instructions and a FixIt to have Windows try to reset the hosts defaults for you.Note: Some workplaces may put internal resources in the hosts file and may block iTunes Store. The FixIt doesn't work for Windows 8.To create a copy of your hosts file and replace it with an empty hosts file, follow the instructions below:
You can find the hosts file at: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC.
Select the hosts file. There should now be a duplicate of the hosts file named "Copy of hosts" (Windows XP) or "hosts-copy" (Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8).
Drag the original hosts file to your desktop.
Right-click the duplicate file and choose Open. You may be prompted to choose the program you want to use to open this file. Double-click Notepad.
When Notepad opens, choose Edit > Select All.
    Choose Edit > Delete.
    Choose File > Save.
    Close Notepad.
Right-click the duplicate file, and choose Rename.
Type "hosts" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
Restart your computer and try connecting to the iTunes Store.
If you still can't connect to the iTunes Store, your security software or firewall may be blocking the ability of iTunes to communicate with the Internet. Learn how to resolve security software issues.
    Additional Information
If the steps above didn't resolve your issue, be sure that your specific alert isn't listed as a possible iTunes Store error. Then, if your issue is still unresolved, follow these steps.

  • ITunes can't connect to store

I recently moved all my files (using Migration Assistant) from one computer to another.  I then sold the first computer after erasing all data from it. My iTunes data didn't migrate for some reason.  iTunes just opened as a new, empty app. on the new computer.   But, fortunately I had all the audio files backed up on an ext. HD. So I just dragged and dropped them on the new iTunes.    Every thing is appearing and playing fine, except any songs previously purchased from the iTunes store.  They present a message saying "this computer is not authorized to play—title of the song—"  and inviting me to fill in my Apple ID password and authorize it.
When I fill in the requested info and try to authorize it a prompt tells me iTunes cannot connect to the store and I should check my internet connection.   My internet connection is fine.
When I tried (as suggested by one of the iTunes support articles) to deauthorize then authorize the computer, same "check my internet connection" prompt.
I tried to update to the latest version of iTunes (I'm currently running iTunes 4, don't know what I was running on my previous computer) which I downloaded.   it tells me it only runs on Mac OS 10.5.
So ho I have to upgrade  my iTunes software and my Mac OS in order to solve this problem?  Is my Mac OS (10.4.11) the reason why my iTunes won't connect to the store?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

When you reach 5 authorizations, you can deauthorize all and then authorize only the computers you have.

  • HT1923 Stuck on Connect to Itunes screen, wont connect when plugged in.

I have a 5th generation ipod touch. I've been trying to get my ipod to connect to itunes, it would connect to the computer but not to itunes. I went through the steps of checking everything. Eventually i got to holding down the home button and the lock screen button. After that it connected. I was trying to restore the ipod because it keeps crashing and its awful. It restored, now connect to itunes is stuck on the screen. itunes was working until it fully restored now it will no longer connect. I'm very upset about this. This is why I hate apple products its nothing but issues. Will some one please help me to get this to work again?

There is nothing wrong with the cord either. Ive had this ipod since October 2013.

  • Itunes wont connect to store, not a firewall issue!

    Hey guys
Since i upgraded to itunes 8 i can't connect to the itunes store, it just says 'itunes cannot connect to the itunes store, the network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection active, then try again.'
I have run the diagnostics test and it is all fine and it verifies that my connection is ok, then it says it cannot obtain a secure connection to the store.
'Connection attempt to Apple web site was unsuccessful.
    The network connection was refused.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
    The network connection was refused.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
    The network connection was refused.
Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server unsuccessful.
    The network connection was refused.
iTunes has never successfully accessed iTunes store'
Im running on XP service pack 2, as a side note, after restarting my comp i was prompted to update one of my flash players and that too said it couldn't connect to the internet.
I have tried disabling my firewall and fiddling about with the exceptions, anyone got an idea? My virus protection has also been disabled, i dont know what to do.

Is it Norton? If so, try this

  • ITunes won't connect to store on Win7 64bit and iTunes 10.6.7.1 but connects fine on iPhone 4

    Hi,
I am unable to connect to the store on iTunes 10.6.7.1 on Win7 64 bit.  From my iPhone I can connect to the store.  Any thoughts?

Could you walk us through what happens (when you attempt to connect to the store on the PC) in some more detail, please?
