Itunes 7 wont play videos on ipod

I hope someone can help. I upgraded to itunes 7 and i went to watch a video on my ipod and it didnt work. Instead, it looks just like a music track. the audio works but the the video. It does work just on my computer though. please help!

Another note, I just tried encoding some videos with iSquirt. Turns out the final format for the video ends up being .mp4 , I tried adding these freshly encoded videos into iTunes 7 and it wouldnt add. What on earth is going on?

  • The songs i bought on itunes wont play on my ipod

they used to work, but i just bought a new cd from i tunes now all the songs from i tunes wont play on my ipod.
how can i fix this. im not going to "restore" and loose all my songs.
    thanks for the help, dave

    See this.
iPod does not play content purchased from the iTMS.
Why would you lose all your songs if you restored it?
You have no back up of store bought songs?

  • Itunes Wont Load videos onto Ipod

hi, i currently have a 60GB ipod video, and now itunes is refusing to load any videos onto my ipod, i tried so many different programs to convert video, eg videora, PQ DVD, and Replay converter etc.
and i get the same error, it says video was not copied to the ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod.
is there a way to load videos without using Itunes? or can i force itunes to load the videos?
    any help would be appreciated...
    thanx ^_^

"All my songs are listed on the IPOD but are faded where they are in regular font in my library"
Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists".
Try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. This will give you a fresh installation and allow you to start over: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings

  • ITunes wont sync videos to ipod

Ok, ive read the whole guide on the net on how to get stuff from the itunes to ipod...ive even managed to get all my songs into the ipod no problems...
but I cant get any videos to go...they are in iTunes just fine, iTunes seemed to convert anything that wasnt normal to a format it liked, and I get to the click yes point where it asks, are you sure you would like to sync your movies, you will lose all existing content etc... and I click OK, and then it gives me the, iTunes is updating the ipod, and then about 3 seconds later its done.
I eject, and have no videos on the ipod...im trying to get over 10 files into the ipod so theres no way it would take only 3 seconds.
    Whats going on?

If I had, it would only be because some guy on here posted a solution. Im not going to try again without help. Silly software...

    Hello Wade,
This is typically indicative of an issue with the installation of QuickTime on your computer. The following article provides steps for reinstalling QuickTime to resolve the issue.
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
    Resolution
QuickTime may need to be reinstalled. Follow the steps below to uninstall QuickTime and then download and install QuickTime using the QuickTime standalone Installer.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.
Windows XP and Windows 2000: Open the Add or Remove Programs control panel and selectQuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click Uninstall a program (or if using Windows Vista's Classic View of the Control Panel, click Programs and Features) and select QuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Click the Remove button (or Uninstall for Windows Vista and Windows 7) and follow the prompts to remove QuickTime from your computer.
Download QuickTime. Note: There are two options for downloading QuickTime, be sure to select the option that does not include iTunes.
    During the download:
If you choose to run the installer, proceed to the next step.
If you choose to save the download, double click the QuickTimeInstaller file, then proceed to next step.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install QuickTime.
    Reopen iTunes.

You can only drag and drop if you have iTunes configured to manually manage music. With the iPod connected to the compute go to the Summary pane for the iPod and check the box under Options that says sync only checked songs and videos.

  • Ive lost sound from my iMac, and itunes wont play

    Hi
Ive been having trouble with my mac for a few weeks - since losing my Microsoft Office suite and trying to reinstall it.  Wont allow me to as hard drive is full.  Then lost all info on screen - grey screen on lonin - so rebooted in Safety Mode and got most things back, but iTunes wont play and I can't get any sound when playing YouTube videos.  Any tips?

Also - have checked my System Preferences for Audio input and output - it is saying "No devices found" - I haven't even go the option to click on inbuilt device?  It is not letting me change any of the settings, such as the Mute checkbox.

  • Playing video on ipod

I put a movie in my library then transferred it to my ipod. It shows up in the library and on my ipod. It plays in the library but not on the ipod. Help please

    i have a similar problem...
got a new 120Gig ipod last month... decided to import some of my music videos into itunes so that i can watch them in my pod... some of the mpegs are on CDs i own... some mpegs were free downloads from the artist web sites... mostly old song... the mpgs imported and play in itunes, but i get an error message that they "cannot be played on this ipod"...
i was under the impression the new ipods would play anything that itunes plays... it would seem that these are in some kind of file formats that itunes will play but the ipod doesn't...
are your files "mpeg" extensions or something else?
if we can find the specifics about that the ipod supports, we might figure it out... i didn't see the details in the ipod manual... did a search but didn't find the info yet on apple's web site...
does anyone know where to find the FAQ for the file formats that these new ipods support?
    thanks-

  • I torrented new songs but itunes wont play them how do i make them work?

i torrented new music and itunes wont play them saying the files cannot be found the files are still on the computer and i can find them just find but itunes cant. how do i make itunes recognize, find and play my new music?

I don't think it's your iPod. I reckon it's something to do with the tracks themselves. I've been searching through similar posts and have tried the following suggestions (without any luck):
    - swap you iPod cable to another USB port and re-sync
    - whilst the iPod is connected, deauthorise your computer in iTunes and then authorise it
    - re-created my iTunes library (as your iPod can only sync with one library, it will wipe clean your iPod and re-sync it) - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313
    - have even restored my iPod
and still the 3 tracks will not play. However, I have subsequently downloaded another track (different album and artist) and that plays just fine. I have since contacted customer services about this and they have been very quick to respond, but unfortunately the re-download solution they proposed hasn't worked either so they have escalated the problem internally.
One thing I have tried (and I think it's legit??), is to burn the tracks to a CD. Remove the originals from your iTunes library to another folder. Re-import the tracks back into iTunes and re-sync. I've tried this and the tracks will now play on my iPod. I believe the above process strips off the DRM, so maybe the problem lies with the DRM encoding and your iPod believes you don't have permission to play the tracks when in fact you do. If you don't feel comfortable about doing this, I would contact customer services.

  • HT1711 ITUNES WONT PLAY ANYTHING ***????

ITUNES WONT PLAY ANYTHING ***??????? HELP MUSIC WITHDRAWAL ARE I

    Hello choefer_fish,
It sounds like you have some video files in iTunes that do not play when you select them in the program, but do play when you double click the files themselves. I would start by checking to see that iTunes is accessing the correct iTunes library by checking the Advanced tab of its preferences:
    Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.
Click the Advanced pane. iTunes shows the location of your iTunes Media folder.
From: Where are my iTunes files located?
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391
If the location here matches the location you go to when you double click the files, then I would next use the Consilidate Library command to see if that gets iTunes to see it:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Change where your iTunes files are stored
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12365
Consolidate your files in the iTunes folder
You can consolidate all the files in your library in the iTunes folder—for example, to make it easier to move your library to a new computer.
Choose File > Library > Organize Library.
Select “Consolidate files.”Files remain in their original locations, and copies are placed in the iTunes folder.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • Itunes wont automatically open when ipod is connected

    Hello there
basically the above ^^ itunes wont open automatically when ipod is connected ive tried the 5 steps and ive also tried the whole tray and exit thing its not WORKING!
    all help much apprciated thanks

I have a interesting hunch that somehow Windows is doing something to you...
One thing you might want to see is if within Windows if the iPod service is running... As there are certain services which automatically get installed when itunes is loaded. These notice the device and loads the app..
Just for reference, here are my Windows Services and their status:
Apple Mobile Device - Started & Automatic
    Bonjour - Started & Automatic
iPod Service - Started & Manual
I thought that a 4th service existed, but can't find it...
Have you tried uninstalling iTunes and downloading to reinstall it again, that might help.. Or else it has something deeper do to with your computer itself!
That's about all I can offer right now.

  • ITunes not playing videos or movies

iTunes isnt playing video's or movies, but is playing the music of them. I need help! I just purchased music video's and they are not playing, only the sound is.

This problem cropped up for me yesterday. I had just copied a new video to my iTunes library and was testing that it worked properly, but while the sound was playing, the screen was black.
Pausing/pressing the Play button resolves the issue, until I select a new video/movie to play, when I have to do it again.
I'm running MacOS X 10.6.6 and iTunes 10.1.1 (4). I tried reinstalling iTunes, with no luck. I also tried the old mainstay of replacing the Preferences file, but that also didn't help.
There is ONE new wrinkle to this situation. Yesterday, I had installed a new app named AirView to stream videos over AirPlay to my iPad. This works fine, but after this, the issue cropped up, suggesting an AirPlay issue.
I have two iMacs, so decided to try this situation on the Kitchen iMac and played a video on this other iMac just fine, video and sound. I then started up AirView on the iPad and initiated the video stream to the iPad from the Kitchen iMac. The movie played fine on the iPad. I quit AirView and went back to try the video on the Kitchen iMac, and yes, the video now failed to display until I reselected Computer from the AirPlay menu at the bottom of the screen, or used the pause/play solution, even though Computer was still selected as the default in the AirPlay menu. Doing this once seemed to be enough to resolve the issue for playing all videos on the Kitchen iMac, but not on the Office iMac.
The only other difference between iTunes on these two iMacs is that one (the Office iMac) is running its videos from a FireWire 800 attached 2TB hard drive, while the Kitchen iMac's contents are on the internal hard drive.
Deselecting the AirPlay option in Preferences/Devices to start videos correctly on the Office iMac is not a solution, since this iMac serves as our home server for our Apple TV.
Since I have a practical option, however, and since this issue doesn't affect playing videos remotely using AirPlay, this is now a buggy annoyance, but no longer a problem for me.
