ITunes 8.0 installation error --- network resource is unavailable / .msi

Hello.
When I was trying to install the latest version of iTunes I found an error message saying the following:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below."
Yet, when I search my entire computer I cannot find any file named iTunes.msi.
To further the problems, I cannot uninstall iTunes because it is prompting me with the exact same message I typed out above.
I am also unable to open the iTunes program because of this same problem. I cannot access iTunes, yet I see it in my program files directory.
Oh, and after that message above appears, I click cancel and this message shows up:
"The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."
What does this all mean?
Please help!

When you get messages about network resources and missing msi files, it usually means you need the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility.
Here is a method for removal of iTunes with clean up and reinstall.
== uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
(To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install)
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
XP
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Vista
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed – you should find entries the programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
If it does, install iTunes.

  • Feature on a network resource is unavailable

I've installed MSOffice 2007 office suite and i can access and set up my outlook profile, connect with our exchange server, and send and receive email. However, when one of our users attempts to open outlook from her user profile Outlook attempts to install
Outlook 2003 from a network location that no longer exists. As a matter of fact we no longer  have a functional copy of Outlook 2003 to create and MSI with. I am assuming that when outlook 2003 was first installed they installed it from the network using
an MSI but we no longer do this.
I've uninstalled MSOffice 2007 and re-installed it twice with out any change. I've removed the user's windows profile from the workstation but that had no effect on Outlook trying to install Outlook 2003 whenever she attempts to open Outlook 2007. This is
    the message i get:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to an folder containing the installation package OUTLS.MSI in the box below."
There is a "Use source:" text box i cannot type into at the bottom of the window and I don't get a browse button either. What is causing windows to think we are trying to install Outlook 2003 whenever we click on the Outlook 2007 icon and and how
do i stop that? MSOffice 2007 is already installed and the Outlook icon is located under the MSOffice 2007 folder in the start menu so there is no reason for it to try and install Outlook 2003... right?

I've seen this before. It happens when Office2003 *was* installed from a network path, and it is still (partially or completely) installed [there are registry entries recording the path, in the workstation], and the path is no longer available.
[it also happens if Office, or in fact any kind of MSI installation, was installed from a source path, and that path is no longer available]
in this case, it's not the user/profile, it's the workstation, and the registry entries stored there.
If you have no need of Office2003 upon that computer, you can either repair Office2003 so clean removal can occur, or, you can use one of the OFFscrub fixit tools to clean it up.

  • Error - required resource was unavailable

I am using adobe designer and about two times an hour, it will just crash. Sometimes it crashes and doesn't specify and just closes and sometime i get error message that says "unknown bravo error" and when i hit ok i get another error "a required resource was unavailable" and then it just crashes. I keep loosing all my work. The way i work now is after a add one line to my form, i have to hit save. I am not doing anything out of the ordinary, but i am adding around 20 or so radio button lists? Is that too many for a form to handle?
I am going to contact adobe soon but i wanted to try this free option first.
    Thanks.

I installed Designer on W2000 without problems.
The program would start and would show me the initial splash screen but would then crash out, giving me the ""resource was unavailable" error message.
I increased the paging file size from 350 MB to 720 MB, and then the program started up as it should.

  • Itunes 7.5 Installation Error Message

I tried to install the new itunes 7.5, but an error message always appears stating: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. Does anyone know how to resolve this issued so that I can begin to use my ipod again? I need help!

    Hi Niel,
I tried the instructions and I received another message which said: "The module ".d11" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. The specified module could not be found." Thank you for responding! Any other suggestions for this issue? Help!

  • ITunes 7.2 installation error message

When I try to upgrade to 7.2, the process stops and the following error message appears:
"Service 'iPod Service'(iPod Service) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services."
No idea what that means. Should I uninstall my iPod software and try again?
    Thanks,
    Heidi

"Service 'iPod Service'(iPod Service) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services."
that can happen sometimes if the itunes installer is having a hard time shutting down either itunes or quicktime (or applications using quicktime) prior to the install. so let's try a "download, restart, then install strategy."
    leave your ipod unplugged.
download and save a copy of the itunes installer to your hard drive. (do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)
    iTunes 7.1.1.5 Installer
shut down running applications and restart the PC.
do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
does the install go through properly this time?

  • ITunes 7.1 installation error messages

Someone please help. I had an issue installing 7.0 and it's the same thing again. I receive the following error message:
    1. Could not write value to key
    Hkeylocalmachine\software\Classes\.m4a\OpenWithList\iTunes.exe.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel
    2. When I hit "IGNORE", I get another message:
Could not write value to key
    Hkeylocalmachine\software\Classes\.m4a\OpenWithProgids\iTunes.exe.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel
I researched the internet on Hkey error messages for 7.0 and now I can't find it anywhere on how to fix this.
I currently cannot upload the new CDs I purchased to the previously installed iTunes 7.0.
I know it has something to do with 'regedit' but I don't remember how. I could be wrong. I'm really not a techie genius and do not speak computer :-P

    error message:
Could not open key: HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\.m4a\Open withProgIds. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
When i click on IGNORE, I get:
could not write value to key \Software\Classes\.m4a\OpenWithList\itunes.exe. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel
I even used the unistaller to remove any leftovers from the installation. I would restart the computer each time but IT IS NOT WORKING!!!.
When I first installed 7.0 the instructions worked fine. Now that I am installing 7.1.1, it does not work. I can't even use the older version or back to it. I don't have a CD-R to back up my files.
Would it work if I remove the old itunes currently on my laptop?
My iPod is pretty much a waste of money right now. Someone help.
