ITunes 8.1.0.52 doesnt download covers no more (Win XP)

Hi,
I'm using iTunes now for about three years, and I actually have everything invidualized the way I want it. Unfortunately I had to format my computer lately. So I exported all my playlists, in order to import them later, not having to create all my playlists again.
However, after I imported all my lists, I realized that all my covers which I had downloaded through iTunes were gone (only the ones I added manually are still there)! So I checked in settings the option that iTunes downloads all missing covers automatically. Yet, nothing is happening! Even if I right mousclick on an album and then click on "download cover now" nothing happens!
I'm logged in in the iTunes-Store and my firewall gives iTunes full access to the internet, also I've tried downloading covers for usual albums that are available in the store and the ones I knew they had covers before downloaded from iTunes-Store.
I would really appreciate any help!
Best wishes from Germany,
David

You're far from the only one suffering from this one - Googling 'itunes not playing' about 1/2 the first page of results report this issue - although many (including myself) are reporting it as an intermittent.
Can't believe Apple aren't taking the issue more seriously (some of the posts are months old).

  • After downloading album covers (some not found) itunes does not show most of the covers.

After downloading album covers into iTunes iTunes does not show most of the covers. It showas blank white boxes except for those where "cover not found" (music notes).
You have any idea how this happens, perhaps with location of the files.

iTunes refuses to play/read file, it cannot recognizes headers, or recognizes those as corrupt, but giving no error messages. The problem is the stored artwork(s) on your music files. To correct this, select the files that are corrupted/cannot be played on iTunes&iPod, click "Convert ID3 Tags...", then select v1.1 from the dropdown box (first, try this on a few to see that my solution is working).
By doing so, iTunes replaces headers, but your ID3 tags will not be changed (I assume you are using ID3 v2.4), nor you'll lose any info or anything else. This works as a hotfix for those files. If you try to replace headers via another program, your information will be truncated, and any artwork stored will be deleted. So I recommend this one.
You'll see that iTunes cannot play most of the files that has artwork(s) stored in them. New version hasn't fixed this problem, and it has risen with iTunes 8.2.x. If it's going to take long, I suggest you should go back to 8.1.x.
    With best regards,

    Hello jman7082
If you are using the Software Update app to update your iTunes, then download it directly from the Apple’s website and then install it from that file that is downloaded.

When you get this kind of problem you need the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. Here is a method for using it:
    == uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
(To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install)
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • When I click on the iCloud icon it says that it will download without additional charge because I've already purschased it but after that it goes back to the icloud icon and doesnt download. How can I download it?

Im having trouble downloading the iMovie app on my iPad. When I click on the iCloud icon it says that it will download without additional charge because I've already purchased it(I did purchase it) but after that it goes back to the icloud icon and doesnt download. How can I download it?

    Hello bianca,
It sounds like you are trying to download a previous purchase to your iPad but the item never downloads. I would recommend starting by closing all the apps that are running in the background.
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that, sign out of your iTunes account in Settings > iTunes and App stores, and restart the phone and try again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes, and restore it:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

When connecting My Ipod to Itunes,it itunes doesnt download music purchased.I tunes works for my 2 iphones.?

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

Try syncing using the manual method

Perhaps check to see if you're accidentally running two different versions of iTunes. There's some information on troubleshooting that in the Opening iTunes section of the following document:

  • Trying to Reinstall iTunes: Can't find it after Download

This morning I tried to update iTunes. It failed. I got a message to reinstall iTunes. I've removed iTunes from the computer and downloaded the installer but it does not appear in Downloads or Desktop. Where would it be?

I have faced such kind of issue while downloading iTunes it says thank you for downloading tunes but it does not get downloaded not sure why that happens but you can download iTunes from "filehippo" just search for filehippo on google and go to www.filehippo.com and from there in the search box search for iTunes and download iTunes 32 bit or 64 bit according to your windows version. You can find windows version by right click on My Computer and then Properties.

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • HT1349 My computer popped up with an update from iTunes several days ago. I downloaded the update and when I went to open iTunes, it won't open. I've tried to download again from the website, but it still gives me this error message.  Missing MSVCR80.dll

My computer popped up with an update from iTunes several days ago. I downloaded the update. When I went to open iTunes on my computer, it gives me the following error messages...
    Missing MSVCR80.dll file.
    Error 7 (Windows error 126)
I tried to download iTunes again from the website and repair the problem, to no avail.  I've tried several times, but cannot get it to open. I have a Windows 7 machine.  My iPhone 5 and iPad work fine and have not asked me to update. I've never had a problem with iTunes before.  I hate to delete it entirely from my computer and start over.  I'm afraid I'll lose all the music I have downloaded there. What do I do?

  • Since itunes 2.0.4 has been downloaded. My ipod doesn't synchronize properly/ at all.The LED screen shows  "copy 1 or 2 from 101" and it will remain like that. It looks like sync but there's nothing to happen. It doesn't stop by it self. How to solve?

Since itunes 2.0.4 has been downloaded my ipod doesn't synchronize properly/ at all. The LED screen shows çopying 1 or 2 from 101' and itt will remain like that.
It looks like sync but nothing is happening. The sync doesn't stop by itself. Is there anybody to solve this problem? In previous versions never a problem.

I have exactly the same issues with my new 80G iPOD. I have found that when connecting to my PC, the iPOD does not start iTUNES 7. This can be resolved by stopping the iPOD Service in Computer Management, connecting the iPOD and then starting it again. Then when you start iTUNES it finds the iPOD. - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
Seems like a stupid long-winded way to do things, but at least you can get some stuff on to your iPOD.
As far as using Restore goes - I just get the restoring iPOD message you described, which it blatantly isn't :((

  • I just changed my residence to the US and now I cant register my new US credit card on itunes cause the state list doesnt match to the US states, what should I do?

I just changed my residence to the US and now I cant register my new US credit card on itunes cause the state list doesnt match to the US states, what should I do?

Your credit card info, billing address must be the same country as the iTunes store country you registering.
For example, you can’t have a credit card from a U.S. bank with  a U.S. billing address registered in the iTunes store for China.
I tried to change my payment information too, but it happened the same, I can change the information but when I get to the state part, it only shows the other country states
Remove all payment info and save it.
Then change the iTunes store country to U.S., add a U.S. credit card with a U.S. billing address.
As previously suggested, if this does not work, contact iTunes store support.
