ITunes 8.2 for Mac: cannot access iTune

Hi
I need help. I am using a Mac OS X 10.5.7 with iTunes 8.2.
I connect to the internet using a wireless connection and i can connect to the internet using internet browser etc but when i try and connect to the iTunes store i cannot.
I have tried to fix this problem by:
a.) allowing all connections through the firewall
b.) allowing application access through keychain
nothing works.
Can someone help me?

I have had the same problem since June 8t/09, after I downloaded iTunes 8.2 onto my MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.7.
I immediately posted my situation and titled it "*_iTunes 8(x) + OS 10.5.7 NOT Compatible??_*"...

It seems there are +a lot+ of unhappy peeps who downloaded iTunes 8.2 on their OS 10.5.7 Macs and are having all sorts of probs.
*I STRONGLY SUGGEST that we DIRECTLY LET APPLE KNOW by going to their iTUNES FEEDBACK PAGE and EMAILING THEM DIRECTLY -- and then RE-EMAILING them until they get the message, or um, messages.*

I'm having a related, but slightly different problem: Just switched from a PC with Outlook to new iMac with core i5 and OS X (10.6.5) and Outlook 2010 for Mac to access my Verizon email. Incoming mail is 100% successful, but have been unable to send a single message. The Outlook error message says it cannot connect to Verizon's outgoing sever (outgoing.email.net), because it requires server authentication. All account setting are identical to instructions.
I have researched the Microsoft Outlook forums for server authentication issues and found primarily resolutions and recommendations to switch to various different port numbers. Tried all of these suggestions with no success. So am still looking for an assist. Is this the right thread to make that query? If not, can any of you direct me to the appropriate discussion group? Elements 10 for MAC cannot print 8x10 photos on a Canon MP970 printer . I get a box that says can only print at 220 resolution. What should I do?

That's not quite what it's saying. It's tell you that at the physical size you chose (presumably 8 x10) your photo has fewer than 220 pixels per inch. So you can print 8 x 10 but the quality may not be first rate, since the original image just doesn't have enough pixels in it to print at that size with more pixel density.

Adobe reader for mac cannot read pdf

I have the latest version of Adobe Reader, the latest OS for Mac, and the latest Safari browser update. but after installing Reader, the ability to access a PDF has become mostly restricted. the full gray screen comes up and a document cannot be accessed. what should I do?

There should be an icon that instructs you to trust the Adobe Reader application for this website. Click on it to approve the action. This is part of a new security practice.

RDC for MAC cannot connect to TS server with error message "You were disconnected from the Windows-based computer because of problems during the licensing protocol".

the mac clients are running RDC for mac version 2.1 and they cannot connect to Windows 2008 R2 TS server. They get the error "You were disconnected from the Windows-based computer because of problems during the licensing protocol".

and I've got same results as dle2k
1. TS lic mode is set to per user confirmed it works for windows clients.
2. the TS server's system log logged error "The Terminal Server security layer detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client".
3. the reports shows per user cal has been issued to users. no temp per device cal has been issued.
4. yes, CoRD works .
5. we tried version 2.1.1 of the Mac RD Client but it also does not work.

Quicktime version 7.1.3 for Mac cannot play AVI file

The AVI file actually "plays" as in, the bar moves, but there is just a white screen, and no sound. I have checked the movie info and it shows that the format is ", 640 x 360, Thousands MPEG Layer 3, Stereo, 44.100 kHz". I have totally no idea what that means, and why the file cannot play. It plays perfectly well on a Windows computer which shows that the file is not corrupted.
I have also followed the suggestion made in one of the earlier discussions and downloaded Perian. However, when I clicked on the "AppleIntermediateCodec.component" file, I only got a message that says "Error Opening Movie: The movie cannot be opened." So, Perian seems to be another dead-end for me.
Incidentally, I have also tried playing the AVI file with Windows Media Player for Mac. The message is that the file format is invalid.
Any suggestions as to how I can coax my Mac to play the AVI file?

The codec info should have been listed before the comma that precedes 640x360. Seems to be a bug in the recent versions of QT 7. If you have QT Pro you can still find the codec name by opening Movie Properties and checking the video format that way. Anyway, since Perian cant play it I suspect you are out of luck in MacOS x. Not all avi decompressors have been ported to OS X. It may be that the compressor is one of the old Indeo codecs and those definitely will not work in X. They will work in the Classic environment but a lot of you folks have given up on Classic. Just in case here is a link to the Indeo codecs for Classic: Indeo codecs for Classic
Have you tried playing it in VLC. If it is not an Indeo file VLC may play it.
The Mac version of WMP doesn't play avi or mpeg files -- mostly it plays wmv or asf files and not even the most recent versions of those formats.

SpeedGrade CC 7.1 for Mac cannot be updated to 7.2. help please

I have SpeedGrade CC 7.1.0 on my MacBook Pro retina 15 inches running OSX 10.9. I learned that 7.2 has been released but it won't show up in AAM Updater. so I proceed to download the Updater and run it manually. The result: Update failed. the update is not for product I have on my system! and ask me to contact support.
I tried to remove, reinstall, and update. It get me to 7.1.0 and it work fine. but 7.2 won't show up in AAM, and manual install also not successful. 7.1.0 work fine on my Mac.
Help please, what go wrong, and how can I solve this annoying problem.
This kind of annoying problems occur with Adobe CC product from time to time, iit is buggy software, especially for updating.

Outlook for Mac : Cannot sync calendars or contacts with ipad/iphone

I have looked at all the forums, product literature, etc and it seems that there is no way I can sync my calendars and contacts with Iphone/Ipad.. I know this is possible with Exchange or Microsoft Office 365 but I don't want to change my current sw. I am really frustrated.. Any clues?

No, the only online solution supported with Office for Mac is Microsoft Exchange.

CAC for MAC, webmail access

Similar to many folks, I'm having lot's of trouble getting my CAC to work on MAC and to get NMCI working. Support from anyone would be appreciated.
Summary of my situation:
1) OS X 10.4.11
2) Card reader CSR3310 (_I can see the certificates in keychain_)
3) I did not not update firmware for CAC reader, since CSR3310 has it already
4) I ran the pcsctest. The results were:

5) Trying to a create ID preferences for each certificate. When I enter the url (https://webmail.east.nmci.navy.mil/), name, and a password --- and then hit add -- I get the following error: "An error has occurred to add an item to the current keychain. The specific item does not appear to be a valid keychain item."

Now when I try to go into my account from my personal computer, it states that "this is the first time using this computer, please enter answers for security questions," I never answered any security questions and cannot change or edit that because it tells me I'm entering the wrong info. ITunes for Mac - Cannot Open Program

When I click on the iTunes icon on the dashboard, it bounces once and then does not open. I removed the plug-ins but that doesn't help. Can anyone recommend a solution?

I am having the same problem. I ran the disk utilities, then I downloaded disk warrior and ran that, and finally I used appzapper to remove the application and all associated files (including prefs) then downloaded and installed iTunes 8 from Apple. What else can I try? The only change I have made recently is to upgrade VMware Fusion to version 2.
Please help. I tried tech support but the guy just started blathering about support contracts. I would have bought one to begin with if someone would have told me that applications would suddenly stop working for no reason and even re-installing wouldn't fix them.

2 macs running ML and iphoto 11 - one mac cannot access photos

We have 2 macs (I also have an iphone). They are both running ML and I bought Iphoto 11 for both of us. I can log on to my computer and get into icloud and see all of my pictures. My computer has no issues and works well....I have enabled both checkmarks for sharing in photostream. I log on with MY apple ID and password and see all additions to my pictures taken with the iphone.
When I try to get my husband's machine to work, I log onto HIS account and I can see typical Icloud stuff...so he can access Icloud. My problem is that I have enabled Photo Stream on his computer; have checked the boxes for share with others and share. I have enabled everything I can. I have gone to System Preferances in Cloud to make sure all settings are correct.
Every time I want to enable photostream/iphoto to cloud - I get an message saying he has to log into his Cloud account - but he IS logged in. I can see it. Also it says that Iphoto cannot get into his Cloud account - check System Preferances. but everything there is OK.
It does say I can 'reset' Icloud but then it says "are you sure? you'll lose everything"....so I haven't pushed that last button. Do I just reset? It should pick up all of his information again right? The problem is I have to airdrop any pictures to him and he does it for me - and we shouldn't have to do that with cloud. We both have our own apple id accounts - which I verified.
Also, I don't want to share ALL of our information - just the pictures and I want him to be able to get MY Iphone pictures and well as my getting his. (He doesn't have an iphone yet but he'll be getting one soon.) Right now he depends on MY Iphone pictures - goes to my icloud which I have shared with him. He should be getting these with no problem - except his account seems to be corrupted.
Seems there is a glitch with his icloud iphoto connection. What is procedure to fix this?

To share pictures, you can always set up a "Shard Photo Stream" by using the tips below:
Set up on Mac:
1) Open iPhoto
2) On the left toolbar, select "Photos"
3) Select all the photos you want to share
4) Select "Share" at the bottom left of the window
5) Click Photo Stream
6) Here you can add them to an existing Photo Stream or create a new one
For a new one, just finish following the on screen instructions
Set up on iOS device (requires 6.0 or later):
1) Go to the Photos app
2) Select "Photos" from the toolbar at the top
3) Click "Edit" at the top right
4) Select the photos you wish to share
5) Click "Share"
6) Click "Photo Stream"
7) Here you can add the selected photos to an existing Photo Stream or create a new one.
For a new one, follow the rest of the on screen instructions
For the log in problem:
Make sure all software is up to date on his Mac by going to Apple logo>Software Update. If you are running 10.7 (Lion) or earlier, it will open a separate window to check for software. If you are running 10.8 (Mountain Lion) or later it will open the Mac App Store to check for updates.
Once it is all updated, if you have the same problems, make sure all of his info is in iCloud by going to iCloud.com and confirming it is there. If it is, go to System Preferences>iCloud and log out. When it asks you if you would like to keep the data on your Mac select no. It will bring up about 5 dialogs wanting to know the same thing for different applications. Once he is all logged out, restart the computer.
When it turns back on, go to System Preferences>iCloud and turn it back on. This should fix the problem.
