Itunes 8 cd burning issue...

so i put in a blank cd to burn. it tells me it takes 18 minutes to burn which is way to long as it is. after it is done burning i play it in a cd player. the first few songs are crisp and clear. about halfway through the cd, the audio is very fuzzy and you can hear a skipping in the background. i have gone through 5 or 6 cds while trying a bunch of different things (getting rid of text option, different burning speeds etc...). does anyone know how to get itunes 8 to properly burn a cd?

My cousin told me about 6 weeks ago that her friends were having a lot of trouble after they downloaded the latest version of itunes. So I avoided doing so. However, my computer was getting real slow. I suspected the operation system had become corrupted, so I did a destructive revovery of my operating system. My computer ran much faster after that. Itunes would not let me restore my library until I downloaded the latest version. (at tha time it was 8.0.1.11). There was a problem when I burnt my first cd. The cd would skip on the 13th track, or sometimes it would start to skip on the 12th track. I did not know whether this was a hardware problem or a software problem. Last night I googled my problem and found others with the same problem after downloading a new version of itunes. I have not downloaded any more songs from itunes since I started having this problem. When I log on to the itunes web site they tell me a new version is available for download. Maybe the new version fixes this problem. Have you downloaded the latest version yet? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Lots of iTunes CD burning issues

I have a two-year-old Dell 8400 PC running Windows XP Home. I downloaded and installed the latest version of iTunes for Windows yesterday, bought some songs and burned them to a CD ... sort of!
The biggest issue after I got past the mysterious error 4550 problem is that of the 15 songs that I burned to the Memorex CDR, only half of them play correctly and those aren't in order. As an example, Tracks 1&2 will play fine, Track 3 will skip and not play, etc. throughout the list of 15 songs. Also when being replayed sometimes the CD will stick on one track and will just continue to play it over and over.
Does anybody else experience this problem?
I know it's not by CD burner, because I just replaced both optical drives a month ago, and my CD/DVD burners/players work great.
I'm really upset and don't even know where else to go to buy music or how to find a safe place.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Upgraded to the new iTunes and everythinig is working perfectly again.

  • ITunes DVD Burn Issue

I receive the following: The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to responde properly, unable to recover or retry.
I have downloaded all of the upgrades; I have checked that the device is supported in the system profiler; but I am unable to burn anything (photos, itunes etc).
    How do I fix this?

Is there an additional driver that came with your LaCie? You might try to remove it, as OS X 10.4.2 should not need such a driver.
You might try to install Patchburn from http://www.patchburn.de instead.
Also worth a try: Delete in .User/yourusername/Library/Preferences
    com.apple.digihub.playlist
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
After that switch off and on again your Mac

  • Windows 8 and itunes 11 burning cd issues

i installed windows 8 and ever since itunes wont burn or recognize cds. My diagnostics say that the cd driver is not available. I've tried working with upper and lowerfilters. if i add both then my computer doesn't even recognize i have a cd drive at all. i've uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled. i'm at my wits end. anyone got any ideas?

Im not sure that will solve the issue I have with itunes. I have a lenovo laptop and I think it's just an issue with Apple who has to modify the program for users of Windows 8 so that itunes can be used and to find purchased music. I found the music I purchased through itunes but it's not the full tracks. It said it allows me to download it fully so I can hear the whole track, but needs some kind of capatibility? I have no idea what the problem is. If someone has the answer knowing my computer brand and having windows 8 compatibility issues, please let me know what you suggest.

  • OSS 3D caused iTunes burning issues

A bit of information for those that have iTunes burning issues.
I installed OSS 3D v 1.62, a sound enhancer programme for iTunes on 14/08/06 and started having CD burning issues... iTunes wouldn't burn beyond 2 tracks and then froze before "finishing".
On uninstalling OSS 3D today 19/08/06, the iTunes problem I encountered were fixed.
If you have issues re burning check recently installed software.

update ... ran sfc /scannow as admin.  windows reports 100% integrity.

  • Itunes 8.01 cd burning issues. Please Help

wondering if anyone else has been experiencing the same issue i have in itunes 8.01. When i burn a disc now i have an array of issues. 1st, with the same media i used successfully before, sometimes when i attempt to burn a audio cd i get a dialog box that reads burn disc fail, unable to calibrate the laser for this media. It happens at various write speeds, so not sure what wrong. Also the few disc i was successful in burning skip during playback and will-not play in certain cd players. The bottom of the disc is scratch-less and everything appears normal. Lost at the moment. Anyone have a solution or suggestions please help. Or is their a certain type of cd that works best.
    thank you

Just got it back from the shop? Did you mention the CD burning issues when you took it in? It really sounds to me like you have drive problems more than iTunes problems. The difference is indicated by whether or not Finder recognizes any given disk or not.
If Finder does not recognize that the drive has a disk in it or can't read the disk, that is most likely a drive problem and is best resolved by Apple service.
A possible long term, spend money option is to purchase a good external optical drive. If you burn lots of disks, this option makes more sense. I have a LaCie drive that burns all the current formats plus has Light Scribe capability. I don't recall getting a coaster out of it. Plus I can move it from computer to computer.
"1 coaster in 5 with 7" means that he got 1 bad disk out of 5 burns with iTunes version 7. If you have been using Time Machine than you can restore the application from the applications folder some time back, when you had a previous version of iTunes. If not, restoring an older version becomes more tricky and I have to rely on the advice of others to tell us how to do that.
If you are not backing up your system with Time Machine or something else (Time Machine is really the best, I think), back up a couple files from your iTunes folder. Copy and save somewhere the 'iTunes Library' file as well as the 'iTunes Music Library.xml' file. If something happens and all your library info (a list of all the music you've added plus playlists, etc) can be restored by simply replacing those files in your iTunes folder with the ones you saved somewhere else. You need to update the saved files periodically as you add music or otherwise change things in your iTunes, but that is no big deal. Just periodically re-copy the files to the place where they are saved and click 'Replace' in the pop-up when prompted.
Hope this helps. Please let me know.

Do you already have installed Windows 8 Media Center? The Media Center contains missing features which are needed by iTunes 11. Details could be found on my blog.

  • Itunes not burning a CD

Ok My Itunes will no longer burn a CD. I put a blank CD in...it checks the playlist, starts to intialize...says the title of the first song, like its getting ready to start burning. Then it says "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred(4280).
I have searched the web and this site looking for the answers. But none of them seem to be working. I have an HP pavillon laptop with vista. Recently I upgraded my Itunes to 7.5.0.20....i think thats the version at least. All the drive problems I see are about a sony drive...but I did that diagnostics testing and this is what came up...

Yellow Dot-Date or MP3 CD Found.
    Green Dot- Driver correctly Installed

If anyone knows how to fix this it'd be great.

  • Help please - iTunes disc burner or software not found... with full troubleshooting details

In iTunes 11.1.3.8 on my Windows 8 HP Laptop, when trying to "Burn Playlist to Disc", I get the Burn Settings window "E: hp DVD A DS8A9SH", then I select MP3 CD and click "Burn", I unfortunately get the dreaded iTunes "disc burner or software not found...". I think this is the second time this has happened (first time I think a simple reboot fixed it), and I assume because iTunes was updated this issue came back again and I cannot burn MP3 cds anymore because of it!
I've followed all steps outlined in this support article "iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install" (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308)
Solution 1, no updated firmware was available for dvd drive.
Solution 2, not relevant because those files were not present when I looked for them.
Solution 3, I'm familiar with regedit and did exactly what the step by step instructions told me including rebooting multiple times to completely remove Gear drivers/keys, installing the new Gear driver files with their official setup file "For 32-bit and 64-bit systems:" from http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php (and gave another reboot just in case) and opened iTunes at the very end of the entire process.
Still getting the dreaded "disc burner or software not found..." error when trying to burn a playlist to a CD. The weird thing is when I click Burn playlist to a CD, I see the DVD drive "E:  in the next prompt which asks for Data CD/MP3 CD, Audio CD.
So I clicked on Help > Run Diagnostics, selected "CD/DVD Drive tests" only and clicked "Next".
Window says "To begin the test, please insert a prerecorded audio cd..." so I did that and clicked "Next".
Under "Choose an optical drive to test:", the drop-down menu only shows "[Choose a Drive]", no other options. Under "Optical drive:" it says "No drive chosen for testing.", and I click the "Next" button.
Here are the diagnostics output I got:

I'm extremely confused as to what to do next. I was thinking I should try reinstalling iTunes but I'm not sure that would even work and I'm so paranoid about installing it correctly and referencing the right existing library files that I'd like to see other suggestions first.
Any help from the community or Apple would be tremendously appreciated and I would be glad to do more testing and provide more details. Thanks!

  • ITunes only burns the first two discs of audible book over and over

I have purchased, downloaded, and burned many Audible books in iTunes successfully . . . until now.
NOW I cannot get my current purchased book to burn correctly.
    What I do...
I create a playlist for the audiobook.
I drag the audiobook into the playlist.
I right click on the playlist and ask it to burn to disc.
I am told the book will have to be spread across multiple discs.
    I click "ok".
The playlist begins to burn to disc.
I am prompted to insert another disc.
    I do so.
This goes on and on for what seems like too many discs (normally, an unabridged audio takes about 8-12 discs depending on the length.)
I check the discs in a portable player and discover that the first two discs are fine, but that the third and fourth discs are just repeats of the first two discs.
I check the rest of the discs I have burned (18 at this point) and find that the first two discs are repeated over and over and over again!
What I did to try and resolve the issue:
I checked to see if I had the latest iTunes downloaded.  I do.
I emailed Audible and they had me delete all occurences of the audiobook from my system and then re-download a fresh copy.  I did.
Tried to reburn the new playlist with the new downloaded audio book.
The same issue occurrs and I waste another 18 discs.
It should be noted that the only reason I only wasted these 18 discs each time and not more is because I finally cancelled the burn.
iTunes was still asking for more discs on disc 18 (and the audio book was only about 10 hours long).
Any help resolving this would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

THIS... is precisely why I use Toast.
I know that doesn't help a lot, but I have NEVER been fond of iTunes for burning.

  • Itunes only burns 40 minutes on an 80min cd?

I'm having trouble getting Itunes to burn a full cd. I make a playlist that is 50-79 minutes long and the cd appears to burn correctly, i.e. no error messages, etc. cd says it's complete. I put it in my cd player and at the 40 minute mark, it just ends and goes back to track 1. I have never had this problems with any other cd in any player, only the ones burned using itunes with songs only purchased through the itunes store. anyone else having this problem? is there something i need to change the settings on? PLEASE REPLY! I've wasted far too many cd's to continue on like this. the interactive faq and troubleshooting has nothing on this.

iTunes tends to be more picky on windows than other programs that burn CDs on a PC. The 3 main fixes for any iTunes burning issues/problems are
    1) Updating the CD burners firmware and the PCs chipsets, BIOS ect ect, basicly any updates/patches offered on the PC makers web site for your model.
    2) Slowing the burn speed in iTunes by going to edit>preferences>advanced tab>burning sub tab. Usually slowing it from "Max" to a speed like 8x or 4x does the trick
    3) Using a different brand of blank CDs. Not all blank CD's are make from the same material, and not all burners read them the same.
Another thing you can do is goto Help>run CD Diagnostic and copy/paste the whole resulting report here so we can see what error if any your getting and overlook your setup for anything wrong

  • ITunes 11 - Burning Playlist to Audio CD fails when including CD Text

I just started running into an issue where I am unable to burn an Audio CD and include CD text.
I tried everything including different burn speeds and cannot get it to work.  I get the error:
The attempt to burn a disc failed.  An unknown error occured (4000).
Luckily nothing is ever written to the CD, so I am not making coasters.
For kicks to make sure iTunes CD burning was working for anything, I selected Data CD instead of an Audio CD, and the Data CD succesfully burned.
Then I attempted to burn the Playlist and unchecked "Include CD Text", and the CD was successfully created.
It has been a while and that means it was with a prior version of iTunes, but I have successfully burned playlists with CD Text.  How come this is not working in iTunes 11.0.0.163?
Anyone have any recommendations how to fix the CD Text Issue?

I have the same problem...I used to purchase music and burn it to a CD for my car and when I updated my itunes, (which I wish I hadn't and doing a system restore failed) I can not figure out how to burn any music off my itunes...I need to burn a CDS for church this Sunday so please help...

  • ITunes wont burn anything

I am running iTunes 6.0.2 and can not burn anything. I have had this problem since version 5 though. I can put a blank disc in and it goes thru the motions that it is going to burn but never gets past the preparing the disc. Any help at this point would be great.

Well, the latest version of iTunes requires a minimum G3 500 mhz processor. Your system is 400 mhz. So that could be the problem. Quicktime requires a minimum G3 400 mhz, which could explain the sluggishness, as you're right at the line. Newer apps require higher processing power, otherwise, they could present operation problems.
Also running Tiger on your system with 512 RAM can slow everything else down.
Other than that, to perhaps resolve the iTunes burn issue you can try a fresh copy of iTunes and see if that makes a difference. To do so: Remove the existing iTunes application from your system, including the preference files com.apple.iTunes.plist and com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist found in your User Library/Preference folder, and iTunes.pkg and iTunesX.pkg files found in your Main Library/Receipts folder.
Next, download a fresh copy of iTunes from the Apple site. Not sure if that version if 6.0.2. If not, go to software update to upgrade to the latest version. Repair permissions via Disk Utility after you're finished.
Next, you'll have to setup your preferences again. This includes making sure iTunes is pointed to your Music Library (preferences - advance tab>general).
    Post back with results.

  • Yet another CD burning issue--won't finish "finishing"

The subject pretty much says it all. When I try burning a CD, the computer seems to go through the process just fine until the status becomes "Burning disc.....finishing," at which time, it stops. iTunes still works and is responsive, but the CD won't finish.
I've also tried burning discs with Windows Media Player, but it doesn't seem to work either.
Immediate responses would be greatly appreciated--I need to burn a disc as a gift ASAP!
    Thanks in advance.
(Please note that at the time I ran the diagnostics, it still said it was "Burning disc.....finishing." Not sure if that's relevant or not, but figured it was worth noting anyway.)

    hmmmmm.
i think i found your drivers and downloads page at Emachines:
    Emachines T-series T1150
but there's not a lot of items of interest available there.
on the other hand, according to Samsung's support site, there's a newer version of the firmware available for your SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-224B. you've got R201, and they have R205 available for download:
    Samsung SW-224B
so it might be prudent to contact your Emachines technical support, tell them you're troubleshooting a burning issue, and asking them if the newer R205 firmware is compatible with the particular Emachines system that you have.

  • Can't burn issues error code 4250-4280

After several failed attempts at solving my burning issues with Apple support (who had no idea what to do) I have found something out. The new "Protected AAC" formatted songs will cause a "failed burn" error message. I own 2 different computers and have tried 2 different types of CD-Rs. I have found that Windows Media Player will burn just fine, and that in iTunes I can burn all my old music (under "kind" look for "AAC audio file") just fine also. So I seem to have norrowed it down to Apple's new protected formats called "Protected AAC audio file"
So far this is all I've got. Anyone else have any ideas?
