ITunes 8 does't see my iPhone 3G (16MB)

My iPhone 3G just will not show up in iTunes. I have tried many things, including uninstalling iTunes completely and reinstalling the latest version (8.0.2.20). What makes this particularly odd though is the following:
(A) I have two PCs (WinXP), iTunes 8 is freshly installed and updated on both.
(B) I have two devices, an iPhone 3G and an iPod Nano, firmware up to date on both.
(C) The *iPod Nano* shows up in iTunes on both PCs just fine.
(D) The *iPhone 3G* shows up in iTunes on one PC, but not the other.
I think (A) and (B) rules out the possibility that I'm just using an old version of iTunes or device firmware. I think (C) would suggest that my iPhone 3G is not the problem. And finally (D) makes me beleive that the PC on which the iPhone 3G does not show up is actually fine, since the iPod shows up okay there.
So... is there anything in the iTunes configuration that would make it refuse to recognize a specific device, but handle all others just fine?
I have two PC's, a WinXP Home Ed, and a WinXP Pro 2002 (SP2), with iTunes 8.0.2.20 installed on both. I also have

I have this same problem since loading a new computer from my time capsule.... did you ever get an answer?

  • Update to 10.0 failed.  iTunes does not see my iPhone.

I removed iTunes from my computer and downloaded the update, but my phone is showing that I need to connect to iTunes. Does anyone know what may have gone wrong?  Thank you!

Your profile says you are using OS X 10.6.3, which is a version of Snow Leopard.  Snow Leopard was first released nearly six years ago.
The current version of iTunes, 12.0.1, is needed to interface to an iPhone 6.  OS X 10.6.3 is too old to run this version.
So you must update/upgrade your operating system to obtain the latest version of iTunes.  The current version of OS X is 10.10.1 (Yosemite).

  • New Iphone 3G - Army Laptop - USB Disabled- ITunes does not see Iphone

I have a new Iphone 3G and am trying to sync up my Outlook Address Book, however my computer is a US Army Laptop that has the USB disabled. The XP operating system recognizes the device as a camera but ITunes does not see the Iphone. Any suggestions or am I out of luck?

You will have to use a different computer that isn't from DoD. As you know they have disabled USB ports except for mice/keyboards because of various world wide issues, they are being very strict about this and I don't see them enabling it for an iPhone when they wouldn't let me use them for 5 minutes to get some data from an old dying machine.

  • ITunes doesn't see my iPhone but my computer does.

iTunes doesn't see my iPhone when I plug it in my computer but, my Computer does.  What do I do?

    Mac: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591
    Windows: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Your computer should recognize the Camera Roll only, as a digital camera. iTunes must recognize it for syncing and backup.

  • ITunes does not 'see' iPhone in new iMac

I am not sure if I should post this in the iPhone Forum or here ... but I just bought a new 21" iMac and used the Migration utility to copy all my data over from my MacBook. It seems to be fine and everything is working correctly BUT ... when I plug in my iPhone it does not show up in iTunes. I did go into iTunes and "authorize" my new computer ... buy it still does not see my iPhone.
I am sure there is a simple answer to this but I can't figure out what it is.
    Thanks for your help!!

Check your System Profiler and see if the computer is recognizing the phone in there (if it's not, try a new cord). If it is, login to another User account and see if the iTunes in there sees the phone. If it isn't,you might try reinstalling iTunes.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITunes doesn't see my iPhone anymore after upgrading

After upgrading to 10.3.1.55, when I plug my iPhone into the PC, iTunes hangs up for a while and then fails with an error E8000065. After it iTunes doesn't see my iPhone. Previously all worked flawlessly. What am I doing wrong?

Yes, Allan, that's what I meant I've read almost all FAQs about that problem and executed all instructions step by step. No luck... All drivers & services are running Ok, the System log is free of errors, everything is looking fine... but doesn't work

    Hello Brian,
Here is an article that should point you in the direction of a resolution. It has a section about the OXE errors.

Unknown Error containing "0xE" when restoring
To resolve this issue, follow the steps in iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Unknown error containing '0xE' when connecting. If you have a Windows computer with an Intel® 5 series/3400 series chipset, you may need updates for your chipset drivers. • ITunes does not recognize my iPhone when I am connected to the internet!

Okay, I am back with an old problem that I had with iTunes 9.0. iTunes will not see my iPhone if I am connected to the internet. If I turn off the WiFi, I am fine. Is there a fix for this? I found the following (see below) on 1 website and did all of them already. I don't have # 3, so I did not have to try that one thing.
Run through this series of potential fixes, which will solve sync issues for most users:
    1. Reinstall iTunes. In some cases this issue can be resolved by completely removing then reinstalling iTunes as described in this Apple Knowledge Base article.
    2. Remove third-party backup software. If you’ve installed software for an external hard drive or another device, it may include an automatic backup utility that recognizes the iPad as a storage device, interfering with the normal sync process. Try uninstalling any such software then re-syncing your iPad.
    3. Remove iToner. It appears that the presence of Ambrosia Software’ iToner software may cause problems with syncing the iPad. Navigate to ~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins and/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins (the Library folders inside your user folder and at the root level of your startup drive) and look for a file called iTonerSupport.bundle. Remove it, then restart, and check to see if iPad syncing occurs more quickly.
    4. Delete iTunes .plist. Delete the following file
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist then restart

    try deleting these preference files

Any ideas on why I can't use iTunes with my touchi?  Has anyone hadluck with non apple softyware, seems apple has made a mess of itunes on this version.  I've been throught multiple threads on reinstalling and with tweaks.  I've read the apple device is faulty in this latest version, any news on when this fault will be fixed?  Love to hear from an Apple person on this.  Samsung is looking more and more attractive.
