ITunes 8 for Windows and my iPods. FAIL

Hi everyone, I recently upgraded my girlfriend's PC to iTunes 8 and then problems began.
Everything was ok yesterday but today when I tried to connect her iPod Nano second gen to iTunes 8, I got a message from Windows saying that the "USB Device cannot be recognized". I thought it was normal once the iPod was with low battery etc. Then I tried to connect her iPod Touch (fw 2.0.2), SAME PROBLEM. I went to Apple's support pages, tried the troubleshooting stuff, tried everything that was on support pages, then I went to the forum and tried some suggestions on other topics, still not recognized.
Do you guys have any clues? I thing this is a problem with iTunes 8 and Windows (everything working fine on my MacBook)
I'll try some stuff now, what you thing?
-Use ccleaner to clean temp folders and registry.
-Connect to my Mac, restore the Nano or Touch, then connect to PC and restore again.
PS: She uses Windows XP SP3 fully updated and secure.

I had a similar problem. My iPod 5G was simply unmounted before iTunes could even start syncing. What worked for me (this is of course only a temporary solution until Apple gets this fixed) was to kill the "iPodService" task and only after that plug in my iPod. Then it started syncing flawlessly. I suppose that the way the iPod Service handles the USB-Driver and communicates with iTunes causes this variety of iPod problems with iTunes 8.0 under Windows XP and Vista.

I have upgraded my iTunes for Windows and I have lost all my apps and music.
Although i signed in with my iTunes account, i can see only 5 apps (that i downloaded in the last 2-3 days), although on my iPad and iPhone i have more than 100 apps.
If i connect my devices to iTunes, the syncronisation will be made the other way, from iTunes to iPhone/iPad, so i will lose everything.
1. How can i restore these apps from the iCloud back-ups from my devices to my iTunes? Or any other method possible?
2. If you can also give me a suggestion about how to find my music playlists, that would save me from a lot of useless work on creating them again.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
In the unlikely event that all the media has been inexplicably and permanently removed from your computer, see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
When you get it all working make a backup!

I just downloaded the latest version of itunes for Windows and now itunes crashes every time i launch it

I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes for Windows and now iTunes crashes everytime I launch it. I have tried re-downloading and selecting Repair with no luck. Any suggestions?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the revo uninstaller http://http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.
next download itunes. it worked for me hope this is helpful!!
oonce you get into the revo uninstallergo thru to delete itunes hit uninstall on the itunes icon then you will go thru to it will tell u the same nmessage about the feature and network hit cancell then go thru and hit scan (make sure bthe advance scan button is pushed) this will take awhile but go thru the list and hit everything associated with itunes. hit delete then install itunes again. it worked for me hope it works for you!

TS3642 It is really unacceptable that I cannot transfer my garageband format songs from iPad to iTunes for windows and then add them to my new iPad. Any ideas?

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3642 tells me that this is not possible because garageband format songs are saved as folders.
I just want to transfer songs from one iPad to another. Why does Apple make things so hard?

But if you want to transfer between two iPads, you could use iCloud to transfer directly between the devices, if the iPads support iCloud and you are using the same Apple ID on both iPads.
If you save the project (or better a duplicate of the project) to iCloud, you will be able to import it on the second iPad from the cloud.

Yes, I'm having this problem also and mistakenly uninstalled iCloud 3.1 thinking that this would resolve the problem....which it didn't. Now I'm without iCloud period and have been searching for the old version of 3.1 to reinstall to no avail, and it seems that many people are having the same problem. Actually, Chris, I found that page yesterday on my own doing a search, before I wrote my post. After your instructions didn't work, I found that page and tried deleting the iAdcore.dll and that did not work. When I tried to open it said it didn't have the iAdcore and could not be opened. There was no QTMovieWin there to delete. I again uninstalled everything in the order listed on this new page, because there were 7 things to uninstall (not 5 as your last page suggested). I found that I had iCloud so that was deleted in the proper order. Did not have MobileMe on the computer. Also deleted Apple Application support, which wasn't on your list either. I restarted the computer. I looked for any files on drive C program files as indicated, and did not find any of those files. I went to the iTunes page and downloaded the latest version yet again (maybe the 5th time?). And I got the same notice:
"The iTunes Library.itl cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the iTunes folder in the music folder."
I went to that iTunes folder in the music folder there are a number of iTunes library folders and none of the open except one. The ones that don't open give me the same dialogue box as above. The last folder opens to a page of codes, I guess that's what it is. Gobbeldy gook to me. But that folder is listed at the top in the URL as itTunes Library.xml. I don't see any .itl. Is that the folder I need? And how do I get that??
I don't know if that last paragraph is significant, but I thought I'd include just in case it is.
BTW, can I just download an older version of iTunes? And how can I find it? I still have the old version on my old computer which is at home. Not sure how to get it from that to this one.

Idownloaded the latest itunes for windows and it just does not sync and every time I connect the iPhone 5 the agreement comes up first. Help please.

I have had nothing but trouble with syncing my iPhone 5 with iTunes. I have installed the latest version of each and worked with support but no solution. Currently when I connect the iPhone the Terms and conditions appear every time, I agree and sometimes there is a sync and sometimes not. It also tells me I have 5 conflicts but looking at Outlook and the phone there is no conflict. If you tell the system to correct the conflicts it gives a message it cannot access the conflict server. I am running Windows 7.

Make sure you have your data backed up, then reset sync services per the instructions below.

I had purcahsed Xcom game on iTunes store and its a 13GB download.
When it starts it always fail half way through and report a error and I had to press install again which will result to redownload the whole item againf rom Zero percent.

Ok, I had a glitch, forced to restart, and lost my train of thought.
Reinstalling iTunes should fix the major issue that might have gone wrong, perhaps your explaination points will disappear and everything will be peachy again.
But if they don't, you can open the XML file in iTunes Folder using a Text edit program to see what the common pathname is to the iTunes Music folder or where your content is located.
If you moved the itunes folder, it needs to go back.
I can't download iTunes to my Vista virtual machine to test it out right now because iTunes is down, so I can't verify the pathname, perhaps your issue and the iTunes being down are related somehow?
You don't want to import all your music again, but it's a option, but you lose all your playlists, that's what I'm trying to recover.
If oyu don't have a whole lot of playlists, then simply select all the explaimation point music and delete, select File from the menu and import your itunes folder again.

the best thing i think you could do is go to an apple store or uninstall itunes and reinstall it one more time and see what happens

Family Sharing and iTunes for Windows

My wife and I have family sharing set up and working fine across iOS devices and my macs. She uses iTunes for windows and we can't find how to access my purchases on her machine. We looked in the same place it is in iTunes for Mac and there is no place to drop down and look at the other users stuff.

@TigerFrank, not sure whether you got your answer but for any reason if you haven't then here are the steps to see the purchases from all the family shared accounts in your iTunes for Windows...
Once you're in iTunes, you see your account name on the top, on the right side of the Apple logo. There is a little pointing down arrow, click on it
on the opened up menu, click on Family Purchases
on the Family Purchases window, on the top left you see your Name with the little pointing down arrow, click on it again
on the opened up menu, select the account you want to download the music from.
That is how you do it, because I just learned about it and thought I would share the information so that others also get benefited from it. Hope, this helps...
