ITunes 8 freezes iMac during downloads
iTunes 8 repeatedly causes my iMac to freeze while downloading songs. This has happened 5 or 6 times since I purchased my iMac a few months ago. This never seems to happen while downloading a TV show or Podcast -- only when I purchase an album of music. The only recourse is to shut off my computer and re-start, but the interrupted songs are not available for download after re-start. Any ideas what is causing this? iTunes customer service re-posts the missing songs, but they offer no clue on how to solve the underlying problem.
Download iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) and install it over your current installation. This will not affect any of your music or videos and may solve your problem.

Photo Downloader freezes randomly during download
Hi all,
I've used Bridge without trouble since CS5 was first released, but this week, it froze during a routine download of about 30 Gb from my Canon 7D. [I do lots of time-lapse photography.] When I retried the operation, it failed again, but at a different file. I launched Task Manager and noted almost no CPU usage, either from PhotoDownloader or any other programs. I retried again, downloading just one day at a time. That worked fine (though not fun selecting the files and prone to human error). Then, I connected my GoPro Hero 4 - also no history of probems - and after a few files downloaded successfully, it failed too, but this time with an error message about failing to communicate with the device. And this time, I also noticed that all of my external hard disks spun up just prior to failure. [This might've happened during the prior failures too but I didn't notice.] Again, I downloaded in batches, day-by-day, and it worked fine.
As such, it appears that Photo Downloader is freezing or failing randomly - the fewer files I download at once, the less likely I am to have a problem. I have a hunch that another program might be accessing all of the disks on my system and, consequently, temporarily blocking communications between Photo Downloader and the USB-attached camera, but haven't seen any processes spike in Task Manager. [It may be a hidden Windows thing.] I wonder if there's a time-out value in Bridge I can increase?
I'm using Adobe Bridge CS5 (4.0.5.11) on Windows.

Are you using any 3rd party firewall software on your Mac? If so, try to disable it.
Do you see the same issue when launching iTunes in another user account? Create another User account in System Preferences> Accounts, click the lock to make changes, then click the plus to create another account.
If you see the issue in another user account, completely remove iTunes and then reinstall it as described here:

If it does not have the same issue in another user account; does it have the same issue in an alternate library, or after pulling the iTune .plist files?

You can pull the iTunes plist(preferences) files from ~/Library/Preferences. Just quit iTunes> launch Finder> click Go in the top menu bar> Home> Library> Preferences, drag the com.apple.iTunes* plist files to the trash, then relaunch iTunes.

ITunes Match freezes PC during Step 1!?!?!
I am running Windows Vista on my PC and purchased iTunes Match to put my music collection in the cloud. 3/4 of the way through Step 1, iTunes freezes and so does my computer. I have to unplug my computer (which is definitely not healthy for it) and reboot. I thought it might be my computer going to sleep, but I shut all of the power saving stuff off and it still happens. Any suggestions?

In iTunes on my iPad I'm downloading a tv show, it's been processing for days, I can't delete or stop it. Which is blocking anything else from downloading. I've turn shutting off but that doesn't work. It wouldn't let me tap it to stop it,
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

Itunes keeps freezing when trying to download podcasts
Ok before when i had 6.0 or something like that i was able to download 80 podcasts no problem now i ever since i updated to 7.0 my itunes would freeze everytime i download a podcast and since im subscribe to my podcasts itunes downloads them automatically. I have xp btw. Everytime i download a new software its the same problem, i tried to repair it reinstall it uninstalled it then installed it again, and i get the same thing. The only way itunes will work is if i turn off the internet which i prefer not to do because it might not turn off again. I tried to minimize the amount of podcasts that i download but it freezes anytime it wants. What is going on and how do i fix it?!
I'm having a similar problem. I purchased a brand new HP Pavilion Media Center last week and installed the latest iTunes (7.3.2.6). Basic functionality was fine until I started setting up all my podcasts. If I subscribe to them too fast (ie - click subscribe on 6-10 of them within 10-15 seconds), the whole UI completely locks up and I have to hard boot the computer. Last night I was just updating/downloading a couple subscriptions while reading email and the whole computer locked up again. Very frustrating when it's a new computer!

Purchases freeze during download
For some reason, my purchases freeze during download. No matter how many times I restart, quit iTunes, etc., the downloads won't restart. The status bar indicates that the purchases are downloading, and the arrow-circle thing is spinning, but no progress is made.
Weirdly, if I go to another computer that is authorized, and sign into iTunes, check for purchases, the purchases download with no problem.I've had the same problem about 10 different times over the past two months, mainly while downloading TV shows. I contacted Apple the first three or four times, and always got the same response - check for purchases and it should resume downloading. Clearly, this is NOT a fix for this problem and it would be nice if someone would acknowledge the problem and post a solution.
FYI, the movies do get "unstuck" one to three days later, but clearly this is beyond frustrating, especially when you want to watch the next episode of your favorite show.

I purchased the X-Men Bundle of 5 movies. I downloaded the first 3 onto my iPhone. Only 1 of the 3 (the first film) shows up as an option to sync to iTunes on my iMac. I do it this way because I have access to free hi-speed wifi at work but not at home.
I have verified that the other 2 films are actually on the phone and will play on the phone.
I have tried various settings and restarted both devices but to no avail.Thanks Alex! That did the trick! I just saw your reply. I thought no one had replied because I did not get an email alert. I think I had turned that feature off and forgot I had done so. Now it seems so obvious but for some reason I didn't look there. This is a big help. I can download stuff at work but at home I have only cellular data using a mobile wi-fi device and downloading movies, especially HD movies is just not an affordable option. Taking my iMac to the office would be crazy. I downloaded only my MacBook Air and copied the files onto a thumb drive but those were not recognized. I was at my wit's end. Thanks again!

I had to replace my harddrive on my IMAC and downloads from ITUNES do not show up. How do I restore my previous library?
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.

Repair youe Apple Software Update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install.
If you don't find ASU in All Programs, go to Control Panel, Add & Remove Programs. -

Otherwise, try to fix and update windows system filesas follows:
Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
type in
sfc /scannow
let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
Restart the computer if it did actually repair any files.
Then do the download again. -
I have given my 4th generation ipod touch to my husband and he wants to download some in app purchases, so I am trying to reset it via itunes. I dont remember setting parental controls but I must have at some point, maybe when I lent it to the kids. But I cannot remember the password and nothing I have tried works. So I have backed the ipod up and am trying to reset it but after speding 10 minutes doing a download I get a message that says:
"The softwaar for the iPod was corrupted during download. Disconnect and reconnect, then try again. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later"
I have tried many times. All the settings are correct, and the network seems to be working fine in all respects.
Any advice very much appreciated.

UPDATE - decided to try one more time after trying for hours and it has worked! I now suspect it may have been because my son was playing an online game. Though we have plenty of bandwidth. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake
and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake

charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then

Adobe BRIDGE CS 5 PHOTO DOWNLOADER freezes and/or stops working during download after 2 years of use. I have uninstalled/re installed twice, cleaned system, adjusted Bridge settings with no change. And I have found no helpful troublshooting tips in forum or on web.
Does it freeze with other type of cards. Have seem some post that suggest an imbedded CODEC on the flash card can cause file corruption in Bridge and Mac Finder.
