ITunes 8 installs but will not work

Well I searched but my problem seems to be a bit different. I click the link to download iTunes 8, the download starts, everything seems to work like normal. I get the window saying the install has finished. I restart my computer, fire up iTunes and it is still running iTunes 7. So it seems like the update is working but it really is not.
I am running windows vista on an hp lappy. Up till now iTunes has been flawless. How can I update to iTunes 8????

I don't think your OS is on the list of supported operating systems, but still.
Does your Quicktime work? iTunes can't work without it and the fault seemed to relate to a Quicktime file.
Sometimes installing the stand alone QUicktime works.
First completely remove Quicktime using the method here: it is not for your OS but I expect you can adjust.

When you come to the system32 folder you can remove any file with Quicktime in the name.
There can also be problems with incompatible codec packs. If you have any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar, (possibly starcodec pack, 3ivx)
Uninstall them before installing the stand alone QUicktime.
Download the version of Quicktime that does not include iTunes from here:

Note that it is not the default option.

Hi, my Creative Cloud Photoshop latest version installs but will not launch. When I try it opens a page with a long error code report. I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop several times with the same result. I downloaded and tried the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, as I found as a solution in the help forum, but since I uninstalled Photoshop before I ran the Cleaner Tool there are installed applications, and AdobeCreativeCloudDriver. Should I hit the clean all CS6 button at the bottom of the window. There is nothing including Photoshop in this list.

Install and use the new serial number provided at the link above. Your existing serial number will no longer work.

There's two different versions of Flash. The ActiveX version for IE, and the Plugin version for other browsers. Did you install the correct version? This forum's software doesn't thing that Flash is installed for Firefox or the Plugin is disabled.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here:

Save it to your Desktop. 
2. Close Firefox using File > Exit 
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed,

3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.

After a while it tells then me that it cannot verify my email address because of a network connection ("Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again. ")
Does anyone have any ideas?

Who replaced the battery? If it wasn't Apple the replacement is probably bad also. Either that, or the logic board is bad.

ITunes 7.6 installs but will not open

I successfully installed iTunes 7.6 and when i go and double click on the iTunes icon on my desktop, the program will show up in Task Manager but will not show up on my desktop. I am running Media Center on this computer and wanted to know if any other computers running Media Center have encountered this problem? Any help would be nice =)

One of the key steps is to determine if the problem is account specific or system wide, that takes you down two different paths.
The other thing you can do is to check that QUicktime works as iTunes will not work with out it and also if iTunes.exe persists on the processes tab of the task manager when you try to start iTunes, even though iTunes does not actually start.

My Ipod shuffle was washed in a washing machine but dried completely. Now it will connect to my itunes on my computer but will not completely charge or play songs. Can anyone tell me if this is a lost cause and I should buy a new one or is there hope that I can fix this.

Moisture will cause short circuits, so the battery is being affected. The audio output is also affected. You really can't tell if it is completely dry, on the inside. So, it's possible the current condition will improve if it is left alone to dry out for while longer. It is also possible that moisture (and short circuits) caused permanent damage.
Since it is recognized in iTunes, you can try doing a Restore (from the shuffle's Summary or Settings tab).
There is nothing else you can do (actively) to fix it, so if you want to have a usable shuffle now, you'll need to get a new one. You can leave this one alone for a month or so (in a dry well-ventilated location), and try it again. If it works, you'll have a new shuffle and a backup.

I just purchased a new sony vaio laptop computer with Window's 8 and I have uninstalled and installed itunes over 5 times and it will not work. When attempting to open it, a box pops up that says "ITunes has stopped working: A problems caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.". I have motified the compatibility under each selection, I have changed my securing options and nothing works. My MacBook Pro will connect to WiFi but will not work in one location but will at others. I have the same issue with my IPhone 4S at the same location.

My MacBook Pro will connect to Wifi at one location (this is a secure location) but will not allow access to the internet. I will put in the password but will not display page. Other wifi capable devises do not have this issue but my Mac and my Iphone 4S will not work. I have tried restarting the router. All other wifi locations I have been to have not had this issue. Any suggestions? I am realtively new to Apple products (less than a year) so any advise is greatly appreciated.

The other devices that are working got on with the same password. It says it is connected. Just nothing works on the internet.
