ITunes 8 is messing up my computer
Hey!
I installed iTunes 8 about two weeks ago, I've had problems ever since then. I've been trying to fix it on my own and i'm finally giving up and asking for help.
iTunes 8 is making my computer slow. It's saying it's incompatible with my other music players which have music in it that I want to be in iTunes (Windows Media Player, ect.)
How I can save my music into my Windows Media Player before I uninstall iTunes 8 so that I can reinstall an older version of iTunes?
I've tried several different ways, and nothing has worked.
I have over 2,000 songs so i don't want to just delete iTunes until I'm sure that my music and videos will be safe.

Quicktime has fragmented and wont work you'll have to delete it in safe mode
Here are the steps to fixing your Quicktime..
1) restart your computer
2) when the computer boots press the f12 key
3) there will be a few options choose "safe mode" and press enter
4) now it'll go on to your desktop SAFE MODE IS VERY RISKY it may look like your cpu's graphics have changed but it's not
5)go to "my computer" and go to "program files"
6)scroll down to the quicktime folder and delete from your computer that way. (dont forget to empty your recycle bin before you restart)
7)restart the computer and reinstall Quicktime
There you have it you fixed quicktime!

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now. -
Help! I just moved my itunes library from a Win 7 computer to a new Win 8.1 computer following the instructions on the itunes website. Everything is good except I'm getting an error message on the Win 8 computer if I try to play a CD or get an audio file off of the internet. I get an error message that says "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly. I don't know where to look for or fix the audio configuration on the win 8 computer. As far as I can tell the iTunes configuration looks the same as on the other computers in the house. At this point I don't dare plug my ipod touch into the Win 8 computer for fear it will get messed up.
I have the same problem and I know that it is due to my PCI Audio driver not being compatible with WIndows 8.1.
iTunes isn't the only program that can't direct sound to the built-in speakers anymore. The obvious solution would be to update the drivers, but unfortunately Dell does not provide an updated driver for my model, so I am stuck with that.
However, saying that, only my laptop speakers are affected by this. I can use sound fine on applications where I can choose the output device and direct sound to the head phones, but for some reason iTunes does not let you choose the audio device manually.
To listen to music I imported the iTunes Library in Windows Media Player and changed the audio output using the following instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/c00d11ba
However, I would also like to rent movie's from iTunes,

I want to clean all of the cookies and bugs that are in my computer causing it to be slow. What program should I use that is safe and won't mess up my computer?

OS X 10.4.6 Messes up my computer
I've been having lots of problems with my computer recently. I've been fiddling around with it for the past few hours, and I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is.

I've reformatted twice, and after every time I've installed OS X 10.4.6, the computer has crashed. The 1st time it removed a bunch of stuff from my menu bar and would not allow me to open most of my programs.
The 1st reformat I installed all of the available updates at the same time, and the computer refused to even get to the screen where the spinning circle-thing ( best way I can describe it) would show up.
The 2nd reformat I installed all of the updates EXCEPT 10.4.6, and it restarted twice fine, I could get on the internet and use iTunes Radio, etc.... After I installed 10.4.6, it refuses to boot completely again.
I'm all but sure that it's OS X 10.4.6 that's messing up my computer. I have no idea what to do now. If anyone has any recommendations, I would love to hear them. I really don't want to have to buy a new laptop.

I have spent more time trouble shooting in 10.4.x than any OS. I spend 85% of my time now trying to figure things out or trying to fix missing menubar items whose settings reset or change themselves; resetting Sys Prefs that aren't sticking; networking problems; living through spinning beachballs of death when just trying to opening a new window; and much more, than using my machines for what I bought them for.
As part of trouble shooting I have spoken to almost every developer for every application that I use and/or beta test, doing due diligence, and in our conversations a general theme is surfacing with several devs saying that it is the new and growing topic at the developer conferences. And that is "OS10.4.x on anything less than a G5 is not working well". From the increased traffic on the boards from people that are in G4 and lower gear, I would believe this.
In past months I have spent a ton of time moving people back to 10.3.9 because when they upgraded to 10.4.x they started having nothing but problems including loss in speed and responsiveness. But not experiencing this in 10.3.x. For the weekend I'm on a 17" Powerbook to try anything and everything I can. I just did a clean install of 10.4 hopefully making it to 10.4.3 and with 10.3.6 on another partition I noticed a dynamic difference in speed and responsiveness switching between the two. This was the same on my G4 FW800 with further reductions at each next level up to 10.4.6. All installation practices and protocols have ALWAYS been meticulously observed. All installs were clean and up to as far as we were going checking progressive performance prior to the installation of ANY third party applications. The clean OS installs were backed up to revert to for the individual install and testing of third party apps. Then a complete evalution at install. Personally another blow was the latest Office 11.2.3 update that really trashed Office 2004.
So basically what I am hearing from those that are making software for this OS is that there are problems and more so for those of us that are "not G5 and up". When I go through the many forums that I track, I make note of the gear that people are using and G5's are having similar problems also, but not as much as G4's and lesser.
It'll only be a matter of time before more of this surfaces. What with this as a growing topic at the developer conferences.
Those sceptics say what you will, but we'll just have to see. There's too many developers that are tired of having their software unduly blamed, and they are starting to speak out. -
i bought itunes match but after change my computer ( account is the same)..why i need to buy itunes match again?
When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.

My kids messed with my computer
My kids messed with my computer and somehow deleted my profile I took it in and had a service develop another profile and back up all the documents in my original profile. Now ITunes does not recognize my IPOD and it will not sync my music however it will synce my movies that I had on my IPOD. Can anyone help?

I have 3 iTunes libraries on my one one computer and since I updated to the new version I can no longer see who's library I am in. It used to show at the top of iTunes the name of the library I was in. Is there a way I can tell which library I am in without closing and reopening?
No. Frequently the apps take up more storage space on the iPod that the file download size.

why are not all my songs I have purchased in the itunes store and are on my computer not on my phone? Very frustrating I purchaed almosta $100 worth of songs for a trip and they are not on my phone after continuious syncs. Do I have to pay for itunes match for this?

Hi, I have an iphone 4 with my itunes library on a Windows XP computer. My spouse (who has now passed away) had an itouch with an itunes library on an IMac. here is the problem, I bought an new iphone 6 and wanted to sync with my windows xp library and of course my itunes version is out of date and I need to update it...well I try and update the version and it will not update the Itunes library and when I researched it I would have to upgrade from XP to Windows 7...r they kidding me...first of all my computer is old and a pain in the *** but I have my itunes library on it. Sp to get my phone working I sync'd it on the IMac and my spouses Itunes library has been sync'd to my iphone and I don't know how to get my library on it...After thinking about it I want to combine the libraries after all there are some purchases on each one.
I have done some research and you have to buy a 3rd party piece of software...this is not the way I want to go...I do not think i should have to buy one and also when I do a goole search there are a ton of them out there and I am sorry i do not trust the comments as some of them do identify that they will get a kick back.

My iTunes won't update on my computer. I have windows vista. I can open up itunes and when I click on "check for updates" it asks if I want to download iTunes version 11.1.5 and I click "Download iTunes" but then nothing happens. Sometimes uptop the loading bar will appear but for only a split second. I have tried restarting, shutting down, I cannot figure out why it won't download. What's happening and how do I fix it?

You haven't said if there was any error message when you tried to start iTunes. If there was one please give it in full.
Also check to see if QuickTime works, iTunes can not work without it. If QuickTime doesn't work, it has to be fixed before worrying about iTunes.
Then restart your PC and open your Task manger and select the Processes tab.
Try to start iTunes, does iTunes.exe appear on the processes tab? If so does it disappear again or remain although the programs does not open? -

Sounds like you live in Canada and are buying apps. Gift card in Canada can only be used for music and movies, not apps. The apps will use the credit card instead. -

Very frustrated now that I have recently installed itunes and outlook on this new computer. Everything worked perfectly ok on my laptop which was also 64-bit Windows 7 and running 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Pro. I have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, when I sync the calendar and contacts are empty. Not sure if there is any way to point itunes to particular address books and calendars.

thanks in anticipationI had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result).
