ITunes 8 on XP - Library Backup keeps asking for blank disc

Question

With iTunes 8 on XP we do a library backup and step through the
dialogs it'll spin up the CD/DVD drive like it's starting to do
a backup but then immediately stops and prompts to insert a blank
disc (the discs are blank).
This is a Sony drive and we have no problem burning audio CDs using
Nero. We tried both CDs and DVDs of different makes.

There's nothing to prevent you from using the BDs for backing up your iTunes Library. You just won't be able to do it from within iTunes. You'll need to use some other back up software to back up your iTunes folder. In fact, my experience is that using iTunes to handle the back up can be problematic and your better off just doing standard back ups. I like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper. I don't know if either or both support Blu-Ray but it's worth checking out.
